GWC Podcast #107

In my mind, they have a bad wrap because they’re mostly useless in the OT. Yeah, the clones are awesome fighters and I loved playing as one in Battlefront II, but then you get to the whole, the finest troops are beaten by the Ewoks. That said, I was rooting for the Ewoks, but still. Those are the best troops?

I have the remastered scores for all 3 OT movies on CD, plus the original ROTJ CD soundtrack (yub nub! lapti nek!), the soundtrack releases for Ep. 1-3, and the score for Ep. 1. Oddly enough the scores for Ep. 2 and 3 have never been released on CD.

I usually do like the end credits - I’m a fan of concert suite type things just as much as I’m a fan of smart usage of the music with a visual image - my only issue with the Star Wars end credits is the use of the Throne Room march from ROTS. But each to their own, it makes me happy I’m not the only one to listen to all the music…

Guys your stormtrooper observations are awesome!

Some further explanation about how the stormies “degraded” over time to be the bad shot, head bonking bumblers we know from the original trilogy.

It’s been explained in the EU books that over time the cloning process became less precise. Kamino came under a lot of fire by both the Sepratists and the Republic and many battles were fought there which damaged the cloning facilites and corrupted the process. Palpatine needed to find a new way to clone them since he needed the army to enforce his regime and there just weren’t enough willing volunteers to spread throughout the entire galaxy. So he started his own cloning process. Unfortunately he no longer had Jango Fett as a “master copy”. So he looked elsewhere and found several volunteers. Unfortunately his process wasn’t as good as the Kaminoans was so glitches happened and the clones got worse. Kinda like burning a cd copy, the original is as is should be but each program you use to copy it is going to do something a little bit different and it’s going to drop a little each time. Eventually you end up with a garbled mess that is just unusable. So by the time RotJ rolled around the clones were just a joke and the “Grand Army of the Republic” was a laughing stock. Now Palpatine could have used some of the more viscious species to fight for him but remember, he didn’t like anyone but humans so that was not an option to him and he had to use hastily trained and conscripted humans that didn’t want to be there in the first place.

So there’s my long winded explanation as to why the stormies suck like the end credit music.

Agreed - Solai is one eloquent sumbitch:D

Greatest podcast ever! I had sworn to myself to not waste one more second of my life on the SW universe [mind you, I’m not a hater, just felt I had gotten all I could out of it, and there was enough other good stuff, like BSG, to obsess about] here I am back watching them due to the fabulous discussions on GWC!!!

Funniest point in ATC: Obi, Ani, Pad are picking locks, baring midriffs, and fighting crazy animals to save their lives in the ring of death. Pad is stuck up a pole [and NOT in the IYKWIM sense] and Ani cruises by on an animal and tells her to jump - which she does, and then smooches him. I had to replay that one to make sure that it was actually what it was. Big, loud, smooches.

Funniest point in GWC #107: Audra singing the 1-12 number song - stuck in my head for the rest of the day, sung at inappropriate moments - almost crashed the car I was laughing so loud. I also love that Chuck and Sean are so accustomed to her doing these hysterical throw backs that they don’t even miss a beat.

I have never read any of the books, and had no idea about what was really going on. Wow - I’m starting on the suggested reading list today!

One last thing: Sand people, and Tori, suck.

All 3 of the most recent movies are great to watch…if for nothing else than just for the effects and backdrops.
As others have said, there are lots of problems with the movies, especially with the acting and the dialogue. It is such a problem that I find it distracting.
Mace Windu had the worst lines I have heard outside a porno. Why did they hire Samuel L Jackson and then just waste him?
Amidala and Anakin were horribly mis-cast, such bad acting. Though at least Hayden Christiensen could do a good sinister look, but that was his only contribution.

It was still an interesting story, and it took a few times of watching the movies to really understand what was going on. And I’m still not sure I get it all!

Not only is the kiss ridiculous, but really? Jumping from that height, and landing like that? Um, that would hurt, like a lot.

ha!! yes. it’s a shame we didn’t get to see their bruised lips the day after.

Thanks to all your lovely suggestions, and your understanding (on my dislike of the movies)! It’s weird to think that listening to the podcasts and reading everyone’s opinions and comments here in the forums has sparked up an interest to learn more about a trilogy (hm, a hexlogy?) I didn’t even enjoy watching. Will be hitting up on the documentary and other readings to brush up on my knowledge of the star wars world, while being able to (mostly) ignore George Lucas.

i think ani used the force to break her fall lol

So would that make him a levator Ani?

I’m a verb! I’m a verb!

What’s next Barb? Adverb? Adjective?

waits to see

Aren’t more more like a gerund acting as an adjective?

I can’t stop laughing at that.

My thought back in the AOTC frak party was that Padme must have had a bionic crotch implant. :stuck_out_tongue:

if we’re voting? interjection gets mine!!

Ooo! Ooo! I want a bionic crotch implant.

Have I just said that?

Wow…Quoting for record keeping sake.

actually, Cookie Monster appeared on Colbert Report few weeks ago to explain that he still loves cookies. It’s just fruits are anytime snack and cookies are sometimes snack. He even ate Colbert’s Peabody award because it looked like a cookie.

You know how you shouldn’t walk into a conversation mid-stream because you will hear a statement totally out of context?

…Guess which was the first post I read this morning…

Are you saying I’m old?

Oh, wait- that’s gerontology…?

lol!

Gasp! I love that one, too!!!

bkitty puts another notch in her grammatical scratching post

Man, I could have used one of those in an unfortunate monkey bars incident in my childhood…
