Call me cold and heartless, but I remember hearing that line from SW ep 4 (or was it 6?) when they said “Many Bothan’s died to bring us this information” and remember thinking. “Ok. That’s nice. Dont’ care. Let’s move the plot ago please.”
Is there some SW novel, comic or something that explores the challenges of the Bothans …something that could me be give a craap about them?
Alas - it’s all true.
You can play as a Bothan spy in Battlefront II.
I always thought a LEGO Bothan would be fun, too.
I thought in the movie it was a nice acknowledgment that it wasn’t as easy (so to speak) to get the information as it seems.
Well it gets mentioned a lot in the Thrawn trilogy, and some of the Bothans are pretty pissed about not playing an important enough role in the New Republic.
What, a LEGO mini figure with actual fur? That’d be creepy.
Borsk Fey’lya - so bad a leader he makes Baltar look good. (EU reference- sorry)
You know what? I think I have faint memory of that. I read the Thrawn trilogy but it was so so long ago that I forget that part.

The Bothan everyone loves to hate.
new to the site ~ LOVED when you pointed out how plagis could influence the midi chlorians to create life possibly having something to do wtih him and shmee (aargghhh that’s the pirate from peter pan!) and anakin’s immaculate conception…that actually made that whole story line of interest to me!
I know, I know, I’m pretty late to the party and shame on me that I have to admit that I still have to work me way through the latest podcasts, but hey, at first I was like, hm, do I really want to listen to podcasts about the prequels and then I was really glad I did because what Chuck tells us about the EU makes the prequels make so much more sense and I’m starting to see them in a different light and maybe - just maybe - not hate them so much anymore. I’ll promise to quickly work my way through the other prequels podcasts.
I’m late to the party too, and not even through 106 yet. I’ve watched the movies, love the originals, and am somewhere between hate and dislike for prequels. Back in the day I did read and enjoy Splinter of the Mind’s Eye, and the early Han Solo novels that were out at the same time, but I moved on to Nivin, Clark, Asimov and others, and never got back into the SW stories.
This discussion of the background material that helps the movies make more sense is very interesting, and the expanded universe (EU) comics and books keep getting mentioned, but I’m wondering what specific ones or series someone should read if they want to have a better understanding of the prequels.
Welcome to the forum. You can find a list of novels and a recommendations from Tigh Figher here:
Enjoy…
I had no idea that the blue arrow was a link. :o
Hello there!
I know this is sorta late and all, but I wanted to thank Chuck, Audra, and Sean for talking (however briefly) about where Darth Maul came from. I had not heard that storyline before.
I was told once (I don’t remember where) that Maul was actually a Human who Palpatine recruited. Once named Darth Maul, he tatooed the red and black all over his face and had the horns surgically implanted for a scary effect (thus, “fear is my ally”). I was enlightened to hear about a humanoid that actually changed skin color . . .
