I am 95% certain that Thot’s siggy quote is supposed to be the one from Serenity movie. Besides the fact I can practically recite the episodes and therefore am fairly confident, Mal would never leave Jayne in charge and rely on Jayne to come for him.

I don’t know why I thought it was Jayne who he gave command too. Maybe because 99% of the time Mal takes Zoe with him on Away Missions. (I can picture Mal’s reaction if I calll them “Away Missions” to his face). “Quit with the fanciful words, Thot. Away Mission? What the Gom Dao Jum is that?”
