GWC Podcast #102

I should probably tell you: I’m just a huge fan of Leah Cairns (Racetrack) and that’s why I was so damn excited.

Well if what I read is correct Jake the first was a Newfoundland. They are 130+ pound dogs. Jake 2 is probably a Border Collie or Australian Shepherd a 50 or 60 pound dog. Wow someone better feed him. Anyway it was a bit of a change.

I say dogs and cats make some of your best family members. Go to a shelter or rescue group and adopt one. There I go off topic again.

Hay I take all the “melting” I can. :o

Well we both had back surgery. I am not so cool as she is sorry.

Thanks Solai.

That’s funny, I’m gonna have some back surgery done pretty soon, too. And hey, nothing could beat flying a Raptor, so cheer up, it’s still a totally awesome name!

OK, Here is the best I could fine. I believe they are the same dog, and he is an Austrialian Sheppard, or a Border collie.

New Caprica:

SQN:

I am almost possibel they are the same dog, but it is kinda hard to tell from the pics I have (at least there faces look the same). I know the orignal was the same type of dog, not as far as I know a Newfoundland.

Here is a Newfounland:

Australian Sheppard

Border Collie:

There is an Australian Sheppard? I really thought the only sheppard was the German Sheppard. Apart from Mark Sheppard, of course.

Nope, there is an Australian Sheppard, that looks more related to the Border Collie then the German Sheppard. My aunt used to have an Australian Sheppard - very intellegent herding dogs, some times referred to as Australian Sheep Dogs, I believe.

Cottle will die soon.

I’m just listening to the cast and Chuck mentioned how Cottle was there for Natalie when she was about to die. Remember when Natalie did the same thing for that other Six on the Basestar? And Anders did it for that Eight?

Cottle and Anders will die soon. Isn’t it logical? ^^

When I heard Emily lamenting about Tigh in charge again, I said “No, this time its different!!!” Think about it… He hasn’t hit the bottle since he found out about his true identity. He is very dedicated to Adama and knows that to screw up again, there is no one to wake up and take over. Its just him. Going into this, he has had true self experience trying to command half (fully?) drunk, and not in control and making rational decisions.

He also knows that the final cylons will be revealed when D’Anna (sp?) comes out of the box. Its in his best interest to find or help find earth and say, “See look we are different. We took you home and didn’t deliver you to the murderous Cavil lead cylons”…

And maybe, the 6 in the brig (Brig 6) will become his angel and show him his true purpose and maybe even help him find earth. I mean, she is having the first true Cylon child. Don’t you think Brig 6 won’t figure somethin’s up ? She spent all that time with Baltar and no kids, then Tigh comes along (sorry) and wham! Instant family.

You haven’t seen Babe?

I am almost possibel they are the same dog, but it is kinda hard to tell from the pics I have (at least there faces look the same). I know the orignal was the same type of dog, not as far as I know a Newfoundland.[/QUOTE]

Newfoundlands come in all sorts of black and white. If you look at Jake 1 butt he is very wide. I will look to see if I can find a picture with a person next to him.

Australian Shepherds are really an American breed. It was mixed with everything that could move sheep (many shipped from Australia). So a bit of wolf, collie, and whatever else was around. I have two of them (look left) and if Jake is an Ausie or a Border Collie he will take control and show the way to earth.

Babe’s dog was a Border Collie. They look almost the same one with tale one without. If I can figure out how to put pictures in the message I could show you.

Totaly right we have never seen Tigh hit the bottle since he knew he was a cylon maybe he’s not adicted to alcohol anymore. Maybe thats part of cylon programing, we never see cylons drink alot (maybe starbuck?). One thing is for sure though, he replaced his addicition for alcohol with hot six-on-tigh action. Wonder if that sets off Audra’s skeeve-o-meter.

Also did they say Jake’s family could not take care of him? I thought they all were dead.

Just finished listening to the 'cast, and while I was impressed (as usual) with the new perspectives the GWCers brought to the show, I have to disagree with Audra on Lee not being able to pull off long hair. No, I guess that’s not quite accurate–I agree that Lee looks better with the short military cut than with the presidential hair, but Jamie Bamber can totally rock long hair. He was in A&E’s “Horatio Hornblower” TV-movies with Ioan Gruffudd.

Couldn’t find a good shot of the period ponytail, but it works.

Re the red shirt: To the BSG costume department: THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Between Lee in the red shirt and Husker in the flight suit, it was a dream come true. Now, if you could find an excuse for Helo to walk around the Cylon basestar shirtless next episode, that would be great. (My goodness, the red shirt! I once read that Jamie Bamber played Mephistopheles in a stage production, and I never could envision him in that role until now.)

Okay, now that I’ve got the shallowness out of my system… I’ve re-watched this episode a lot now, trying to better understand what’s going on with Romo, and I noticed something in the Starbuck-Adama scene that really is a plothole, though not one that really matters. When Starbuck questions Adama’s order, she says she has “two missing pilots.” Huh? She could say she has forty pilots missing, if she was talking about the pilots on the baseship, or she could say she has one missing pilot, Sandman, because Racetrack and Skulls found his empty Viper in the wreckage. She’s lost two pilots–Sandman and Pike–but Pike is not missing; he’s dead. I get the feeling there must’ve been a scene cut, and they didn’t catch that line or couldn’t figure out a way to cut around it. Perhaps in the original cut of the episode, a Raptor went missing while out on Adama’s wild goose chase, and that’s what Starbuck is referring to.

This is why I love this board. While I still wish that the Romo alone with the whiteboard scene had been replaced with something that got us more clearly from Romo being frustrated with the presidential search to pulling a gun on Lee, operating from the idea that Romo has always been going back and forth between the line between brilliant and crazy (maybe even a bit like Baltar) is consistent with what we’ve seen of him before and makes his actions in this episode make more sense. Thanks, Phil!

This is how I did it:

You’ll notice that you’ll see that your podcast eps are queued up like a playlist (“1 of xx”). If you leave it on, it’ll play the next episode on queue.

I hope it helps! Let me know, k?
