It’s Yiddish so it’s related rather than corrupted.
You would be quite surprised how much Yiddish is used on a daily basis as English.
I don’t know if this is a good thing or not, but “veklempt” misspelled exactly like that, is probably best known to most people in America as used by Mike Myers in his SNL Coffee Talk skit.

Yiddish usually uses hebrew characters, so the romanized version has some flexibility.

For what it is worth, back in season one, SG-1 was made by HBO which put pressure on the producers to add nudity and swearing. It pretty much goes away after the first few episodes.
Actually, seasons 1-5 were done by Showtime. The rest were done by Sci-Fi.

Wow, You are good. I know Yiddish when I hear it but I do not know if I could ever be close to spelling it. It is often used by comedians because it is such colorful language and would get by the censors.
