Why does everyone have a bye in week 14?

Do the 1st and 2nd place teams really want a bye week first week of the playoffs? No fun =/
In leagues where I’ve been in 1st and 2nd (Not this year, it seems, after my loss tonight) I have really appreciated the bye week. It’s essentially a free win - a reward for not just getting in the top 6 but being one of the two elite teams.
Plus, after so many weeks of constant attention to my team, it’s nice to kick back and relax before the big push to the Superbowl.
Hervecian Horrors added two WR that I dropped previously and they both scored 2 points a piece. Feel my pain now right? (:
Your pain? No, I have plenty of my own 
They were “in case” pickups because half my team is either injured or suspended. All my starters played last week, so I didn’t need to play those two bums you dropped.
didn’t matter, though, as my 100+ score still wasn’t enough to win. :-/
Man…the bottom 3 playoff spots are completely up in the air.
This is how my season ends. Not with a bang, but with a string of devastating losses due to my players producing far worse than I thought they would, while my benched players had stellar weeks.
I think I may not have paraphrased that poem as well as I could.

Hey, lookie there. In spite of my best (worst?) efforts, I made the playoffs.

I missed the playoffs in my other league by 19 points. I feel your pain. 
Everything’s going normally for me so far. My first points are negative due to my QB’s first pass being intercepted.
Wth? I’m having the best “consolation” playoff in 3 years…
For the whole season my bench players have out-performed the active players. I have been a poor manager. I can’t complain, though.

But, for next year let’s split up the leagues. I’d much rather have two 8-team leagues than one 16-team league. And those of us who want can play in both leagues to make them 10 or 12-team leagues.
