GWC Fantasy Football League

Keep us up to date as the season unfolds. I’ve never played FF, but I’m quite interested in following along.

Yea it took me awhile to see it to. I tired to drag and drop guys to my team. I tried to double click on them. Then finally i saw the big red button.

Here are the match ups for week 1:

Pylea Deathwoks vs Dramablight Pancakes
Galactica Vigilantes vs Boys from the Dwarf
Starbuck Storm vs New Caprica Resistance
Aerilon Bighorns vsTeam of Intent Calamitous
Boston Carts vs Caprica Buccaneers

They need to make the giant, red, draft button more obvious. It’s too subtle…

Sarcasm aside, I think the future, those of us who’ve drafted before should endeavor to point out how the UI works to others.

The UI is cramped with details and it’s not obvious to understand to newcomers. This was my first draft. Shawn had to point out I had first pick and it still took me 5-15 seconds to see the pick order.

I read the rules before draft, but there’s no documentation on the actual draft window which is silly. They should have a section and screenshot (with a legend) of the UI. Just my beef to an otherwise good experience.

This was actually my first experience with ESPN; I generally use Yahoo! for drafting. It’s easier to know how you’re drafting with Yahoo!, and you get to create a list of palyers you’re watching throughout the draft so you know who you want when your turn comes back around, but ESPN lists the Bye Week front and center, which is useful (for those who pay attention, unlike me).

Honestly, I make my decisions based more on information I’ve picked up from sports outlets and podcasts more than what’s on the interface, though ESPN does a good job of saying what they expect a player to do.

Not gonna lie, me too.

Could that be due to the number of FF n00bs, such as myself?

Now that the draft is over, I’ve gotta figure out when I can start trading some of these guys.

off to read teh roolbuuk

It’s Thursday night. Week 1. I’ve got one question for you…

//youtu.be/pXyzuVk7SoI

Are you ready for some FOOTBAAAAALLL??

Even though I’m not part of this… HELL YEAH!

Crap. Too bad the Steelers are playing the Titans tonight… I’d love to see the Steelers start the season 0-1.

AHHH YEA. First games start tonight and the first scores are gonna be up soon!!

I’m watching the Fantasycast (free live scoring), and it’s pretty cool. But, I’m torn between rooting for my favorite teams and my FF players. ):

I got schlacked on Sunday. Now, I need 50 points from Randy Moss & Jay Cutler to pull off a miracle come-from-behind win.

Yeah, I’ve been watching. I’m nervous that it is possible. I’m not familiar with Cutler, but I do know Moss.

Funny thing is the Projected Score had you beating my team too. Still possible, so don’t lose hope yet. I certainly am remaining concerned.

However, It would be disingenuous of me to wish you luck though. ^^

Looks like I’ll lose this time. Some pretty bad production at RB and should’ve played Jennings over Ochocinco (bit of overmanaging on my part).

Kim & I are pretty close at the moment, both of us have players still playing tonight. So we’ll see how it goes. Overall, I’m fairly happy with mine. It just kills me though to have an RB/WR on the bench with a ton of points & others in play with low points. Oh well! Such is the game.

Projections currently have me leading the league in points this week. Assuming I maintain it, are there any special advantages for that? Other than bragging rights which aren’t really in my nature to use…much. ^^

Edit:

I think we’re all feeling that in one way or another. Plus, I saw McNabb get hurt this weekend and I can only imagine how Seelixseesall (Kim) and other owners of injured players feel.

I can never tell wou is who from the forums… also this is my first time doing fantasy. Do the weekly games matter more than overll points?

Check the “Matching Teams to Usernames” thread on the league page. It’s at the bottom in the center.

Each week, it is your head to head points that match and decide your W-L record. Your overall points break ties for playoff seeding.

Is there anyway those of us not participating can see how you all are doing?
