GWC Fantasy Football League

I wanted 4 players (not the kicker and I think it’s too soon to tell for Mike Tolbert), but yeah.

I’m think gonna pass on Flacco and Sanchez atm. Maybe next week though. I’ve just “acquired” 2 qbs I’m not familiar with off waivers. They’ll prolly only be in the game 1 or 2 weeks or only play for a half if my luck holds.

Why didn’t I get Vick! Ugh!

No takers eh?

I’ll try to make this short.

Trading Block
http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/tradingblock?leagueId=661299&teamId=6

Click “Edit Your Trading Block” and make your decisions. Make sure you click “Save Changes” at the bottom before leaving the page.

Back on “Trading Block”, select players you’re interested and not interested in. Again, click “Save Interests” after making changes and before leaving the page.

Now, you can make offers blindly, but I suggest communicating with the owner(s) first.

Finally, remember trades take 2 days to complete. So, try to complete the proposals before Friday 12:01 AM in order to make it in time for Sunday’s games.

If anyone wishes to correct or expand on what I’ve said, please do so.

I didn’t know a trade explanation call had gone out.

About hoarding, now. In a league of 14 teams, you have to be pretty careful to make sure your bases are covered. If everyone has a backup for their single-play positions, for example, you’ve only got a handful of options to choose from. Like four. Four of the worst. So witht his much depth, you’ve really got to cover your bases and make sure you’re not in a position to be stuck with some dregs, or if people carry three of something, even worse.

The bench depth in this league is also, in my opinion, a bit high. In my own league it’s five spots, which is pretty tight but also keeps the free agent pool a bit more interesting. With seven, you get people holding three QB’s, or maybe three defenses, or the like. It happens.

The upside is I’ve usually got one or two spots that I don’t feel too strongly about playing mix-and-match with. I’ve got John Kuhn on my roster, and I have no intention to play hima nytime soon, but he COULD have value if Brandon Jackson goes down.

I am disappointed I did not keep my Michael Turner handcuff, sinec I drafted the right guy and everything, IIRC. Now someone else has him and I’m kind of over a barrel if Turner is injured.

Boldin on my bench. That is all.

Dunce of the Week

Looks like you may win anyway. My team is very weak this week. I will need to get something going in waivers and trades

Yeah Vick is having an awesome game for Talos.

The most frustrating thing about Fantasy Football is when someone on your bench has a killer day. I don’t mind losing (my team in another league is about to be 0-3) as long as the active players score better than the bench. You can suffer from over thinking too much.

Heh. We benched Flacco after a horrible start. Every single active member of our team had a better game than he did last week. But he had a better game than every one of our active players this week.

Still won, though.

My bench has outscored my starting lineup. And I could still win, so that’s something, I guess. Benching Floyd and not bumpign Orton could cost me two games since I have both players in both of my leagues.

I hate underperforming stars. Colston is making me rage. I know if I take him out of the lineup he’ll have a huge game but he’s not doing crap thus far.

I can’t really complain this week, but the same for my #2 pick, Shonn Green. He and Ray Rice, my #1 pick, had a bad first 2 two weeks. I kept Ray Rice in and took out Shonn Green this week. I made a good decision. I can’t waiver him. All I can do is trade him.

I’m looking for an upgrade on D/ST and/or flex if anyone wants to talk about Orton or Schaub. I’ll block them once I get home.

I had Orton last year and he did well for me. But, I dunno if you’d be interested in my Chargers (Ranked 7th).

Watch your lineups. This is the first week of Byes.

Edit: My waivers are shaky this week thanks to my win.

If, like Karl, you are 0-3, all is not lost. I asked the great Mike Polikoff, who oversees our League Manager product, to look into the 2009 results. He looked at all our 10-team prize eligible leagues from last year (the idea being that with a prize on the line, it’s even more of a competitive league) and, get this, more than 9 percent of the teams that started 0-3 still made the playoffs.

In other words, it doesn’t look great, but it’s not impossible. Incidentally, 25 percent of teams that started 3-0 didn’t make the playoffs. So don’t get cocky. And if you are 0-3, you keep playing…

Interesting to keep in mind…

P.S. Why does it fee like I’m mostly talking by myself here (Besides Pike, DP, and Jarathen occasionally? d:

Because they’re looking at stats?

Alright waivers went through. I’m up for trade proposals. I went a top 15 ranked QB, and one or two top 15 ranked RB. I may be looking to upgrade my D/ST, but not a priority.

I have a ranked 6 TE Marcedes Lewis, and ranks 1, 5, and 19 WRs to work with. So, please email me via the ESPN site for chats. Fair warning, there’s prolly gonna be a lot of back and forth.

I’m still here, watching and learning…mainly watching

If you want to talk about one of my QBs, we may be able to talk, fast cart. i’ll be available early evening.

That’s how I feel about Steve Smith, I just can’t bench him when he could have a huge game. Maybe him and Claussen will get it together this week at New Orleans and have 100 yards receiving
