GWC Fantasy Football League

Just to let people know, don’t be surprise if your score right at this moment changes tomorrow. Once the official stats get in and rounding errors are adjusted, scores can change slightly, or drastically in the case of Defense/ST.

So, don’t freak out if that happens… Ok. If you wind up losing, I guess you can freak out. d:

Calvin Johnson Robbed by NFL’s Horrible Catch Rule

What do you all think? It looked like a TD to me. Should the rule be changed?

It is a bad rule, but at the same time, these players know the rules. I’m so tired of watching showboating wideouts screw up. Whether they’re pulling a DeSean or beginning to celebrate before the play is over, players need to focus on winning, not showing off.

There was a recent soccer game in which the goalie was so pumped at a blocked penalty shot that he turned away from the goal in his excitement and bravado while the ball backspun back into the goal. Dude cost his team the game.

And darn that Tony Romo/Miles Austin combo for trying to make Week 1 interesting.

Bleah. My bench almost did better than my starters…

Good to get a feel somewhat of my picks though.

Interesting game tonight. We didn’t have the breakout game from our quarterback that we needed, but since we also have the opposing QB at least we fielded the right one.

My team got a bit over half their projected score. I saw that a lot from other GWC players last year, but never really experienced it myself until now. Gonna be a hard season. d:

This isn’t like college, is it? 'Cause we just got the score run up on us…

Weird week for me. Many players grossly underperformed, including my first and fourth picks, but Arian Foster really bailed me out.

Time for another heads up to newcomers to this season’s fantasy league. Now, with the first week officially over, we have the choice/chance of adjusting our line ups with waivers. Some of you may have already discovered this. Waivers work by selecting players we want and exchanging players we want to drop. You’d want to do it simultaneously instead of dropping players first and hoping your waiver comes through to prevent having gaps in your lineup.

The site has an order to go through which favors owners with lower standings. This week standings seems a bit off since it’s our first. However, usually owners with higher standings have the worse chances of getting the best players because the lower standings owners get their picks first.

Then on early Thursday AM US time, the site goes through and adjusts our rosters. If a player was dropped by another owner, we’ll be able to pick that player up using the same process. The site goes through the process again early Sunday AM US time.

It is worth noting that after Thursday, the lock on Free Agents/Available Players is released and we can manually add/drop players at will unless a player was recently dropped. So, you can choose to ignore waivers, but you may miss out on that week’s or season’s top players.

Finally, try to get your waiver picks in by Thursday 12:01 AM ET/Wednesday 9 PM PT. The waiver process occurs later in the AM, but this deadline will guard against potential site lockouts or other mishaps/forgetfulness on our end.

If anyone have questions, disagree with, or find any or all of my explanations unclear, please speak up. I’m typing this info based off my experiences from last season, and I may not be apprised of changes or forgotten important info.

Would someone else care to explain trades?

Good luck to us all. ^^

Thanks for the explanation FC. That’s one of the things I’m still not sure about. I’ll noodle it through and see if you’ve answered it for me.

Np. Just doing my bit to level the playing field so to speak.

I didn’t go into the UI and other stuff. You can set up which order your waivers will (hopefully) execute without cancelling existing waivers for example.

Like FC said, if there are players that have piqued your interest, feel free to “add” as many as you like. Stack 'em. I’ve got two pending claims myself. Sometimes you’ll get what you want. Sometimes you’ll get the second one. Sometimes neither, if your priority is too low and others got there first. Think of it as a new draft every week where last place gets first dibs each week. For one pick. Then it goes through everyone else before coming back to you.

Paying attention to waivers is KEY to being successful all season. Some teams will get better because their owners are paying attention, and that can be the difference in the end.

Most importantly, if you’re putting out mutliple claims, PRIORITIZE THEM. Make sure the one you want most is #1.

Thanks for the clarification on the waiver thing. I have an injured player I’m hoping to unload and hopefully it’s set up right.

I made adjustments to my starting lineup because, like most of you, I had bench players out perform starters. I have to say, it is fun to check on the scoreboard all day OCD style.

I spent a good hour on Sunday keeping up on games via NFL.com and my leagues via other tabs. Everyone else at my house was asleep. I could’ve done ANYTHING. But for one hour, all I did was obsess.

Be careful when offloading injured players. Especially star players or players with injuries that will last only a week or two.

Only an hour? I pretty much OCD all Sunday until the late game. This is why I’m available on smack talk chats so much. d:

Ha. If only I could. Sunday is a big day for getting stuff done before the work week, because I don’t want to do stuff on Saturday.

Also, as bad as some of my teams have been over the years, I have to avoid investing too heavily into disappointment.

Good luck to us all on first waivers…

Read 'em and weep or cheer.

I have no clue what do do about my qb’s and the ones still available. I’m not that familiar with them. I’ll prolly be crying that I didn’t try to get Vick I think.

Curse, I mean grats to, ZZOE for getting Brandon Jackson.

No, I agree entirely. Curses!

My most-wanted waivers didn’t go through, but I was able to make the changes I most wanted, so I’m happy with that. If anyone would like to talk a trade involving a Chargers WR (or two) for an RB, let me know.

I accept your curse/grats but I doubt that he will help me much. The rest of my team sucks. Second stringers and back ups Oh! and Tom Brady
