So it looks like I can fly for much cheaper and direct if I fly into Houston, which is a 4 hour drive or so from DFW area. Anyone coming from that direction? I also don’t mind driving, if someone wants to split the cost of the car once I get to Dallas I am cool with that too, since we will need one anyway.
So anyone game to fly into Houston?
Oh, this sounds so awesome! I’m seriously considering this crazy trip. I’ll have to do some significant mulling over.

Just catching up in forums. I met Sean and Chuck at the San Francisco meetup – awesome time! I definitely plan on coming to the “other Frisco” for the meetup in March. Will post my flight plans later. Willing to share car and room.

A number of GWCers have asked about the status of our hotel planning, so I thought I’d provide an update. We’re holding off on our final selection for a couple of weeks for a couple of reasons:

[li]It’s already clear to us that we’re not going to have any problem getting rooms. There are literally dozens of available hotels in the area, and we’re checking daily to make sure we don’t miss deals/etc.[/li][li]Availability on our specific dates is wide open as virtually nothing is happening that weekend (except of course the meetup).[/li][li]Two new hotels have opened since we first announced dates (and one more might in the next month).[/li][li]We’d like to match the hotel/amenities to the number of people coming as best we can, so we’re hoping to get as accurate a count as possible before we finalize the hotel.[/li][/ol]
One other note:
If you haven’t already, please let me know as soon as possible when you’ve obtained your tickets (or made firm plans if you’re local) so we can make plans for the Friday night viewing event and meals.
And above all, don’t worry. We’ve already found some great hotel options, and we’re confident that we’ll be able to line you all up in a decent hotel together for a decent price near all the action.

My airline and car are booked now. I’ll wait for hotel information from Chuck before booking a room. 
Hey Gryper - left a message in the social network thingy, but just wondering if you think you will be going through Houston on Friday. See it is $150 cheaper for me to fly to Houston (not to mention a direct flight), I was going to rent a car and drive up, but if you are going to be driving through i would gladly split the car for the weekend and the gas.
What i don’t understand - $178 to Houston non stop, $315 to Dallas with one stop - in Houston :rolleyes:
Heck it is still cheaper if I buy 1 way tickets - to Houston on Friday and then leaving Dallas on Sat, which if you were able to pick me up would be the way to go for me. ponders (it would be like 240 total this way)

I posted a reply in the social thingie too, but I don’t have set plans on when I’ll be leaving Houston yet. Waiting on replies from relatives right now.
I don’t blame you for wanting to fly in to Houston with that price difference and stupid stopover in Houston.
Once I get more information from relatives I’ll have a better idea of when I’ll be leaving Houston.
