My mum did that when she had been driving in Europe and got back into her car here. It would be very hard to adjust. How did you manage the different wheel position and the left side of the road?
Yea! Glad it’s not just me. It wasn’t too hard to adjust. You just have to concentrate more on where you are road wise. Here we gauge where the right side of the car is on the rode but there it’s the left. Tight alleyways at the hotel caused me a problem at first. But after a couple of times out you’ll do alright.
Oh and when on foot and crossing streets, you need to look your RIGHT before you step off the curb. I kept forgetting to look LEFT down there. So I defaulted to what I was taught in childhood…LOOK BOTH WAYS before crossing the street. And I decided it was prolly best to cross at intersections with a signal light so that helped.
I haven’t been to Australia, but when I was in London in April, they actually “Look left” stenciled on many of the intersections, which I found amusing and helpful. I didn’t drive while there, and when we did have a car the girl who grew up in England drove, but it was pretty freaky for the first few minutes, even being the passenger.
I am still up in the air on whether I will be coming (I am waiting for the Bunnies to make a decision on what they are doing)
Had this problem in Ireland, myself. It’s actually easy to get used to being on the wrong side of the road, but what really screws you up is making turns at intersections. You always want to go to the right side. Which is the wrong side.
And how did England et al get it backwards? Was the queen a lefty or something?
Not sure how them being on other side of the road happened. But yeah we were pulling out into traffic and I saw a bus coming and got a little freaked out until my friends were like - they are on the other side of the road silly…
I can’t imagine making turns, and we went through lots of roundabouts (or circles for those of us in the US), which are backwards too. I don’t like them to begin with, I can’t imagine having to go around them essentially backwards (at least in my mind)
General intersections didn’t bother me much. Now them roundabouts were a trip! We don’t have those in IL…or at least none where I live and drive.
What was funny is I told my friends there (Adelaide) that I felt that other drivers would think I was some “blue hair” driving slow and turning on the wipers before turns. One of them actually got it and told the other “older lady with blue rinse hair.” Should have taken one of those window flags with me to warn other drivers: “Yank driver…back off!”
That stenciling would have been helpful for me! My friends drove when we went around the area and I agree it was freaky at first.
Hope you can make it Raemani! (Had to get this back on topic somehow)
After I had been travelling around Europe for months I found those stencils very helpful when I got back to London. Made crossing the road at home a lot easier
It’d be great to meet the man who called me a girl.
Man, I . . . so . . . want to go to this meetup. March 22 is even my birthday.
I won’t be able to though because my school has me doing a residency at the same time.
I hope that everyone that does get to go has a great time!

That’s OK – I figure Pike is planning to wait 'till the last minute then just show up with GF in tow. He knows it won’t be a party without him, but he just has to be fashionably late.
Yeah, “no pressure.” Heard it before…
Just for the record, I didn’t exactly call you a girl. It was something I infurred from the question topic you had placed on the forum, and for Kobol’s sake that was over year ago !! I was new at this internet stuff then ! I’m sorry !!
Furry! Topgun’s a Furry!

Well it looks like the gathering of the bunnies is not going to be until a couple weeks later, so I am now on the look out for a cheap flight, a roommate or two, and would even be willing to share rides/pick people up. at the airport.
Glad to hear.
Check out the Social Group feature. You might be able to hook up with some roomies. Keep us posted on when you purchase tickets and stuff.
No, no I would not.
