I’m in. This is so exciting, I think it’s more exciting that the finale even. Can’t wait to see everyone. I suggest name tags with our avatars on them, that’s how we all know each other. Can we do a live cast- so the folks who can’t come can feel like part of the fun too?
Since i live in minnesota, i would just like to say that the airport here is pretty nice. Unfortunatly i obviously can’t go. well, have without me everyone!
I would be interested in going with money being the issue. Looks like driving would be cheaper than flying for me (anyone else going in the same general direction-carpool?). I’d also need a roomie.
Like smarx, I too am more of a lurker and podcast listener than an active poster, but I’d love to come watch the finale (knock on wood) with people who are as obsessed with BSG as I am. The really ironic thing is that I’ve been to Dallas twice this year for work but never thought I’d have a reason to fly to Texas on my own! Yeehaw!
The next time you’re in town, let us know and we’ll catch up with you for dinner one evening – aside from the meetup.
Wow! CHuck do you think it WOULD be possible to do a live-cast during the meet-up? Then even people who can’t come will be able to feel a little liek they’re there. I know live set-ups are a real PITA, but I think it would be fun.
A quick note based on some PM discussions with attendees:
Don’t worry about hotel yet. There’s LOTS of space available, and there are a couple of hotels opening in the next month or two here that’ll have killer deals. I recommend NOT booking hotels yet. I’ll have information for you (i.e. an “official” hotel) down the road, but I’ve already looked and hotels are not going to be expensive or difficult – an advantage of meeting in Frisco, TX in March (when no one gives a damn about being here).
If you’re tempted to book a “hotel/car” deal, I recommend first doing your own research on car cost. These “deals” often aren’t deals and you can usually find a better deal looking on your own. Still, it never hurts to check.
I’m normally a Thrifty fan (because they’re often half the price of other renters and run regular sales), but a quick check this morning shows them pretty far out of the running at DFW on our dates. Kayak returned a dozen offerings at around $35/day, though. I saw some super-cheap Hotwire rates, but that whole “learn who you’re renting from after you book” turns me off. YMMV.
I just created a Social Group where we can post our status and get a head count of who will be making the trip and attending.

I can’t firm things up until my flight attendant sister-in-law is still employed in February. This will be quite the trip for me if everything goes right, since I have an intense fear of flight. (It is an entirely reasonable fear, involving military aircraft and novice pilots setting autopilot 2k feet below our actual altitude and C130 doors cracking a bit and cargo moving QUITE a bit.)
I have voiced to my husband that I wish to make this my Christmas present, and we will make it happen to the best of our ability. I will post to Talos’ group when we make things solid.
Living in Grapevine, TX I will most definitely be there. can’t wait.
I want to be there…how incredibly fun it would be to hang out with everyone. Cost and visiting family may get in my way. We’ll see. I’m definitely putting this on the calendar. I gotta keep my eye on the prize, right?
If gas prices stay low, I’ll just frakkin drive myself down there. Otherwise, I’ll have to thumb it if my job situation hasn’t changed (I’ll probably be one step ahead of the bill collector police the whole way, too).

Since I will soon be gainfully employed, I am still considering coming to the meetup. This will mainly depend on flight costs, as currently they are running at about $2300. If any sales come up this is a definite possibility. Imagine the prospect of me behind the wheel on the wrong side of the road though!
Gook luck to you on the employment. That is a high price for airfare but hopefully it will come down soon for you. And if I can manage to drive on the wrong side of the rode from the wrong side of the car in your country…you can manage it here. 
One small tip…the turn signal and the wiper levers are switched too. I kept trying to signal with my wipers cruising around North Adelaide. It was kinda hard to concentrate and drive while LMAO at myself.
