As someone who’s been through one tornado – over a mile wide, blew the house off the top of my mother and I in '79 – I do pay attention to the warnings. But consider this: the once-a-century huge tornado that I survived destroyed a good 25% of the 100,000 population town in which I lived. But it killed only 45 people.
My point: Tornadoes aren’t extremely common, and even then if one follows a good plan and keeps one’s cool, it’s even more extremely rare to be heavily injured by one.

I was going to say that we would be there until at least 2 am (assuming the only tape a 2 hour podcast), but with all of us there I think it is going to be a VERY late night.

Glad you survived that otherwise…no GWC (see how selfish I am!). I just know that this time of the year in the mid-west you keep one eye on the sky. The weather can change rapidly…like today here it’s 54 with thunderstorms with temp due to drop and chance of snow overnight.

It might depend on how long the trio have booked the room. BSG is on from 8:00-10:00 p.m. and BSG: Last Frakkin’ Special shows at 6:00 p.m. and again on 3/21 at 1:00 a.m.

Just booked my room and thanks for setting up the hotel deal. Normaly I book rooms using my military status to get a discount but the deal you folks set up is even better. I owe the three of you a round of drinks for all you put into setting this event up.

Hey all.
There have been some musings about spare/empty/extra beds in the hotel information thread, but I figured this might get peoples attention a little better.
I am staying in the Holiday Inn right next door since my parents let me use their points, but I just discovered they booked me a room with two beds. Since I am only really in need of one bed, I’d like to offer the other one to anyone who might need it.
I know it’s a little late in the game, but I thought someone might want it. If anyone had to make the decision not to go and the difference between paying for a room and not paying for a room was the problem, well here you are.
I also thought this might be a good opportunity for anyone else who might have a spare bed, and is willing to room with a fellow nerd, to bring it up : )

I just booked my car using the above special (promo code: WKE10). I got a mid-size car for $10/day +fees, so the total was about $45 for two days. Not too shabby.
This is good on economy, compact, or mid-size cars.

IF you 4 people each way, it’s still $20 each. So if you rent and only have two people each way, it’s probably cheaper.
