Oh Sue would have been fired a long time ago for a plethora offenses including blackmail and being an all around terrible teacher who berates and humiliates her students.
Also by now Schue would have been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with his students - why is he always called in to the office when one of his Glee kids gets in trouble? even when the offense had nothing to do with Glee? Where are their parents?

The way my twisted mind has worked out the Brittany situation:
We start out with an exterior shot of the Brittany house, high voltage towers looming in the backyard. Cut to close up on a peeling wall, where a cute little baby Brittany is pulling leaded paint chips from the wall and eating them. Later. Brittany takes the blunt of the abuse from a drunken father to protect her little sister. Dad works on cars in garage with door close, fumes wander the house. Brittany always looks out for her sister & protects her from stuff cos she is the brains of the family, etc…
I don’t know, just thoughts that float in my head.
oh my, that is twisted. it would be a bit difficult for Brittany to be the comic relief if they showed that tho. besides, sadly i know people who turned out like Brittany with no help from lead or abusive fathers.

Yeah, but look how they humanized Sue, with her sister, and then the voting. I want to have the same for Brittany. It would be cool if their house was on a toxic dump or something, and they move and she gets better. I love my Brittany almost as much as Summer.

Yeah, Brittany is pretty awesome. I can’t wait to see what they will do with her episode. Though I really hope in reason 2 they return to the story oriented format in season 1.0. The themed episodes just aren’t the same…
For the record, at KidsAZ’s high school where choir is KING, there is no way in hell the kids could sing the real lyrics to most of those songs. The school district forces edits of anything remotely suggestive. They even edit the broadway material. It really sucks. No artistic freedom in a public school. The one exception that I’m aware of is the senior concert night, where each senior gets to sing the song of his or her choice. Not sure how fees/permission work there, but I’ve heard some real lyrics.

Rachael being diva is good, nice Rachael is weird. I like Finn telling her that she is wrong and now they still love each other even if they have flaws.
Not sure about Mrs Beist. And poor Finn, what will he do without football. I thought it was his the ticket out of there.
This was a pretty frantic episode. A lot of disperse action, all around the theme of protecting what is yours, how far you can go to do so.
Also, am I the only one who thinks Rachael honestly believes she was acting in everyone else’s best interest, acting out of love, but apologize because she’s just self-aware to know how it looks? Whether or not she was in fact motivated by jealousy being a separate question.

I suspect these two things are related. As in, Mike would be gone too if they hadn’t given him lines and a plot arc. Not that Tina was a heavily utilized character either.
I was tempted to think that way, especially after she sang the final song. That was a beautiful emotional song about doing something out of love. though, the only people that had solos in competition is Rachael. so the whole other people getting less part stuff is kind of pointless.
still, it’s either she is very selfish, or she has a very warped sense of love, or maybe both.
in the end though, the whole club is thinking about beating VA together, but Rachael is worried about she doesn’t want the dynamic to change. It’s still more about her, because she likes it just as it is.
people love Mike Chang. i acutally liked the Mike Chang and Matt bro stuff.
I’m inclined toward her rationalizing her selfishness. This being just the beginning of the season, I’m sure we’re seeing things that’ll be woven into story lines for some time.
I was just saying they seemed to always be in the background. But good background is not something you can do without.
So, is the new blonde kid gonna be Kirks BF? Cause I think that’s where we are gonna see that character go based on rumors from the interwbs. Kinda exciting…

I was thrilled with the season opener, but not so much with the Britney Spears one. I remain entrenched in my position- I want character arcs, not musical artists of the week. I feel very nervous.
Here’s a couple other things- first of all, I feel pretty with it in terms of today’s teens, since I live with two. I was shocked at the Britney show. She is out, completely. Taylor Swift is in. Also, I read they’re doing Rocky Horror for the Halloween show. Hey, I saw RH at midnight in Berkeley, CA back in the day (best place ever to see it BTW) but today’s kids have no idea about RH. Maybe they will now, but I feel like some of the musical references are more for us adults than the kids. That being said, BrettAZ likes watching Glee with me. Though we did FF through all the Britney numbers except Arnie’s.
Enough bitching. I love John Stamos as Emma’s love interest. He fit in perfectly. Hope we get to hear him sing.
Generally I agree. But I liked the loopyness of this one. And I’m no fan of Britney (Spears, I mean. S. Pierce is a trip). In fact, this 'sode is the most Britney I’ve seen in my life.
