Glee

Yes! Vork! The cherry on top of a great episode!

I wished he’da sung, though. We know he can Tank & Spank.

The best bit was that she had to be prompted to put it down again.

Britt’s my favorite B-teamer.

(if i had seen the show…)

I’m so freaking gay for glee.

Oh wait. I was already gay!

Tl;dr – it’s got showtunes and snark, of course I love it.

(also, hot guys are hot)

this week’s episode is my first glee experience…

i was bawling like a baby… father son stories just gets to me everytime…

and there was Vork…

A-greed. It will be robbery if they don’t give it to her…and I don’t want a namby-pamby “Best Comedy Female” award neither. Best actor. period.

You missed a quick interchange between Quinn and Terri. Basically Quinn asks Terri for some money to help pay for vitamins and the like and Terri responds, “Look, I will be paying for that baby for the rest of its life, you can handle nine months.”[/quote]

You and I need to suspend our disbelief, because I thot the same thing. Doesn’t make for great TV tho to show them rehearsing the same few numbers every week. The occasionally make reference to songs they have done in past episodes, but if I only have one tiny irrelevant criticism is that they don’t self-reference enough to past songs and events.

Damn straight. I wish I didn’t know about that before the episode, but Vork is Vork none-the-less. Huzzah!

no glee talks today? i think they should have called this episode “truth day”

I dunno, I was kinda’ shell-shocked after last night. Pepper’s smackdown to Rachel hit a little close to home for me. Although Terri taking advantage of Rachel’s crush to get her to clean the house was quite amusing. As was the “if I don’t enough sleep, my antidepressants won’t work properly and I will go crazy and come kill you” proclamation.

Gregg Henry will always be one of my favorite guest stars, even when he’s cruel and uncaring. Poor Quinn, though. And how great was Finn’s mother? Much as I adore Puck and his wish to financially support the baby, I kind of don’t want the truth to come out now. Finn’s a dolt, and should leave the singing to Chrissie Hynde, but staying with him and his mother is probably the best place for Quinn and little Drizzle to be right now.

Happy things: Jayma Mays’ chair-dancing during Will’s Police mashup. And Brittany through the whole episode, from waving her phone like a lighter during “Endless Love” to hugging and picking up Quinn during “Lean On Me.” I think she’s now my favorite B-teamer as well.

I think now the true will come out inevitable… because Puck just wants Quinn too much. I don’t think Mercedes’s talk about “if you love her” got through his mohawk.

i just can’t Will’s mashup of “Don’t Stand So Close to Me / Young Girl”… that ws hilarious…

I didn’t think this was their strongest episode. I mean, we know Rachel’s crazy, but she was cah-RAAAYY-zee in this episode, and it was really disturbing. I got really annoyed with how long Schue took to put the kabosh (sp?) on that. “Oh, no, too many girls like me…!” Please, dude. You’re the teacher. Stand up and take charge. And stop being duped by your nutball wife.

And Quinn’s parents were so stereotyped that it wasn’t really surprising what happened there. Not that that sort of thing doesn’t happen–I’ve been through those conversations for much lesser “crimes”–but making them Glenn Beck fans was a little on the nose.

Pepper was hilarious though, and Terri was finally entertaining without being grating. I did miss Sue, but I’m glad they took a step back to keep from overusing her. Looks like it’s game on next week.

Mr. Schue does seem to attrack crazy… It’s sad that Emma is the most normal out of the girls Mr. Schue attracts…

just something weird that came across my head…

does anyone else feel that Glee writes female characters in a more negative light? And the male characters tends to be more stable?

We have Sue who is borderline psychopathic. We have Mrs. Schue who is faking a pregnancy and is manipulative and … also almost psychopathic… Quinn is manipulating Finn and blames everything on others, lying about the baby and cheated on her boyfriend. And Quinn’s sidekick girls are playing mean girls most of the time.

The less questionable ones are Tina, who fakes her stutter but not really a bad person. Mercedes who is a diva. Rachel who is also a diva, but also thrown in a bit of a obsessive personality, and mostly only cares about her career more than others.

Emma with the obsessive-compulsive disorder is perhaps the most normal of all the female characters. But she is in love with a co-worker who is married and “expecting a baby”, while engaged to someone else.

On the boys/men side. Mr. Schue can’t be more stable. He cares about his students. way good looking and talented. Schue like Emma, and perhaps enjoy her attention, but he isn’t obsessive about Emma, and is faithful to his wife and “kid”.

Ken perhaps isn’t stable, but he is very normal, and doesn’t have any major personality flaws. The Principle is a push over, but you can talk sense into him.

Kurt is gay and Artie is in wheel chairs, but they are the most normal out of the bunch. Finn is full of heart, just a little dumb, but not because he is not smart, more because he doesn’t apply himself in studying or being informed.

Puck is the only kid with major flaw. He is working to steal his best friend’s girlfriend. And Sandy, the former Glee club director maybe the most flawed male character.

But considering characters that has major screen time, the female characters of the show are made into more of the bad guys than the male characters. Especially with Sue, Mrs. Schue and Quinn.

I have thot a lot about your post. It definitely rings true and I absolutely see your point. I don’t agree tho. I don’t think the female characters are bad guys, I think everyone…guys, gals are either burdened with an issue or challenge. The guys are just as flawed as the girls with one exception: Mr. Schue. He is the straight man to everyone else’s comedy. I could break down each guy, but I think you see what I am getting at. The crazy coach, the guys in Glee, the worker from Linens and Things, they are all insecure in some way with a character fault. Sure Sue is a hard-ass, but we now see that is simply a veneer. Mrs. Schue is definitely crazy as is her sister, but that is critical to Mr. Schue’s motivations.

In the end I wouldn’t say the females are cast in a negative light, I think they are actually very strong characters. They aren’t lilting lilies in the corner, they are part of the action and incredibly strong.

I think you are right. Maybe it’s not just the girls that are dysfunctional, but everyone besides Mr. Schue, male or female, are dysfunctional, just in different degrees.

I just remembered another really dysfunctional female character though… April Rhodes (kristin chenoweth ), she is a bit like Terri with alcoholism.

Ugh, way too much Terri and her shrew of a sister in tonight’s episode. And if I’d taken a shot every time someone said “distraction,” I’d be passed out in the floor. Granted, a lot of the dialogue got drowned out by Mom’s prep work in the kitchen so I may have to watch it again.

Enjoyed Brittany’s lesson in hairography (“Like you’re being tasered…”). And Lisa finally got a share of the spotlight. Poor Rachel, the sad clown hooker.

there are still characters in the glee club that we barely know anything about. Some i don’t even think we know their names… like other asian and other afmerican. i am hoping that eventually they will be part of the ensemble. I know that it will be like wasting money to focus on characters not part of the regular cast, but BSG does it all the time…

(btw, i always wondered why it is ok to call someone asian, but not PC to call African Americans simply by African, anyway, i made up the word afmerican, cause i think it sounds cool and way shorter than African Americans…)

After the episode on Dec. 9th, there will be no more Glee untill April 13th…

I actually hope they never reveal the story behind “Other Asian” I laugh every time i see him because of his name. Everyone calls him Other Asian and i find that hilarious. Its part of the joy of Glee is that it is really not very PC. But i personally think the PC thing is stupid.

the problem is i am starting to get sick of the whole Finn Quinn, Kurt Finn, Rachel Finn stuff…

unless they make Puck spill it can reshuffle the board a little, the status quo isn’t fun anymore… it’s getting too scheming and snarky…

also, it is fun to call him other asian when he first joined glee club. if after weeks they still call him that not to be sarcastic when situation calls for it, it’s just not cool.

Wow, that was a rollercoaster ride of an episode. To go from the sheer exuberance of “Jump” in the mattress store commercial to the heartwrenching reveal of Terri’s fake pregnancy. I mean, I’m glad the secret’s out but that was tough to watch. Did you ever think you’d see Matt Morrison that angry? And yet I still find myself somehow feeling bad for Terri. Though I doubt I’d say that if it were anyone other than Jessalyn Gilsig in that role.

Rachel flirting with Finn to the tune of Lily Allen’s “Smile”? I like the song and all, but did they even listen to the lyrics?

Sue seemed even meaner than usual (No uglies and fatties allowed outside after Christmas?), so it was nice that Quinn was able to give it back to her a bit.

Rachel: “The Glee Club photo won’t get defaced.”
Brittany: “Yeah, it will because I’ll be the one doing it.” Hehe!
