That It’s My Life/Confession mashup was AWESOME. I need to acquire it
I completely agree, I also LOVED that they didn’t go the typical route with the father’s reaction. The “I’ve known since you were 4” was absolutely brilliantly done & played by the actor. I especially loved the “You’re sure?” at the end, it was great to see acceptance & love in the midst of disappointment.
Giving this thread a loving bump…it is still not too late to get in on the ground floor of Glee.
Here is my challenge and promise: Watch the first episode. It is free on Hulu (www.hulu.com/glee). One hour of your time for a piece of content that is being given a personal vouch by me.
You know those shows you hear about for years to come that everyone loves ala Arrested Development, Firefly or Freaks and Geeks? Glee is in that category.
Go. Watch. Now.
Hooray for Wednesday! I noticed this story on IMDb this morning, linked to a story about Jane Lynch campaigning for her chance to sing on the show…
Glee Tour: We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Macy’s Float
Good news for fans still reeling from NBC ousting Glee from the Thanksgiving Day Parade: Fox may be bringing Glee to you.
Sources confirm that although it’s in the very preliminary stages, Glee cocreator Ryan Murphy and his unhateable cast are setting their sights on a live tour sometime next year.
“The studio and Ryan have said all along that if the show takes off, there will be tours,” says one insider. And although the ratings are not necessarily blockbuster (yet holding strong, with about 7 million viewers), the show’s dominance on iTunes and the Billboard charts (filling up four slots this week) have not gone unnoticed by Fox head Kevin Reilly…
“We’ve had a tremendous amount of enthusiasm from our music partners,” Reilly told EW. “Certainly if these kids become stars in their own right, who knows? Live appearances. Albums. There’s lots of things that could happen.”
Ryan Murphy said that the tour would most likely be scheduled around spring 2010, after production has wrapped on the first season.
So although you won’t see the Glee cast on the telly on Thanksgiving Day (unless Fox counterprograms NBC’s Macy’s Parade with a Glee marathon, which would be delicious), you could very well see them live in your own town.
How’s that for a bedazzled silver lining?
Just a quick note: Hulu only keeps five episodes back, so the pilot is no longer available – lots more are, though!
That is exactly what happened with me and the US Life on Mars. FRAK. FRAK. FRAK. I wonder if Fox.com hosts them? Will go look.
EDIT: No go. Frak. This is really stupid on their part. Missed opportunity to allow word of mouth new viewers catch up and additional ad venue loss.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Frak.
There are otherrent means. And this type of stupidity just promotes it.
I think you’re overreacting, just a bit.
Good news! According to mo Ryan over at the Chicago Tribune, Glee has been greenlighted for a full season.
Yay, finally a show I like is not teetering precariously on the cancellation bubble. Phew. But please, please stop with the Terri’s fake pregnancy story. I can’t imagine how they’re going to write themselves out of it and at this point, it’s just being terribly cruel to Will.
Lots of character stuff going on tonight. I didn’t even notice Emma hadn’t appeared till the preview. All the Will vs. Sue scenes were awesome, especially the ones with the principal, so hats off to Matt Morrison. It must be daunting to go toe-to-toe with Jane Lynch. I didn’t think she could make Sue any more of a cold-hearted bitch but she totally went there. I feel so bad for Quinn (love the song at the end which was perfect for that moment). She did get the best musical number, though, with “Keep Me Hangin’ On” integrating the fantasy/real sequences seamlessly.
Poor Finn, he wants so badly to do the right thing. And there are far worse names than Drizzle. I wonder if Puck will figure into this at all. He’s not a bad guy, and he did tell Quinn that he’d step up unlike his own father. It was sweet that he was helping Wheels up the stairs during the Glee Club storm-out.
More jam sessions please and less of the overproduced numbers. “Must Be The Money” was just fun and spontaneous, and clearly all the actors were enjoying it.
“Those drinks are craaaap.” - Sue’s Tigh homage
This is quickly shaping up to be one of my favorite shows ever. Powerful drama. Biting comedy. Brilliant writing. Heartfelt exchanges…oh yeah, and kick-ass singing and clever song arrangements.
This show is not afraid to bring it. Punches aren’t pulled., they swing hard and see where they land. Brill-frakking-tastic.
Did Artie say, “Bye, white people”? I think he did. LMAO! And still giggling about Sue calling Spanish a dead language and saying you need to know how to do a round-off to be a banker, lawyer or captain of industry.
"OH MY GOD! TERRI IS THE MOST EVIL PERSON EVER ON TV!
I mean, jeez, at least Sylar just killed people, he wasn’t stomping on their hearts or anything."
That’s what I would say if I had seen the newest episode… and “Sue’s awesome!”
This series is getting so much play around here. Dang! Another show to watch. Me DVR is full already.
Darn. I’ve seen several episodes and was wanting to check out the pilot. Strangely I’ve not warmed up to it completely. The musical numbers are always impressive, but I’m a little turned off by some of the characters’ shallowness and mean-spirited attitudes (some of it is meant to be comedic, of course, but sometimes they grate on me even in dramatic scenes).
Except for Jane Lynch. I can’t get enough of the evil Sue Sylvester. The quote in Solai’s siggy is only the icing on the cake of the many incredible things that have come out of this woman’s mouth. I keep tuning in to see what she’ll come up with next.
Last night’s episode though, seemed to do a nice turn around with Quinn’s character–and even, if you believe it, a moment of sincerity from Sue at the end–so I’m interested to see where the show will go. And if other GWCers are watching it, that helps too.
Ha. It probably would have been cheaper for me to purchase that than the songs individually. Oh well. Supporting a good cause.
Now I have to go listen to their cover of “Don’t Stop Believin’” again.
Awesome things about tonight’s episode: Puck’s hawtness, Sue in a zoot suit, Emma’s wedding dress, and “Sweet Caroline”!
Also, Sue’s speech about what would happen to Will if he was a minute late in getting her the set list. Someone please transcribe it for those without TiVo/DVR.
Bump.
Just finished watching tonight’s episode, and it was impressively strong. They went light on the musical numbers, but the writing in the rest of the show made up for it. Each of the subplots tied to the others in some way or another–the thematic interplay of Artie and Kurt’s situations was especially nice. And when Sue sat down to read to her sister, I thought they were gonna make me cry (would have if the scene had gone on much longer).
I’m starting to sincerely like this show more and more.
Seriously, just give Jane Lynch an Emmy already. It’s amazing how she (and the writers) can shift the character from cruel to compassionate so seamlessly.
You’re right; it was light on the musical numbers plus no Terri or Emma, which was refreshing. Finally Puck gave Finn the pounding he so richly deserved. And I thought Will’s wife was supposed to be helping Quinn with all these baby expenses? Did I miss something?
Even though I did giggle at Brittany not knowing which hand was her right one, they’re going a little overboard with the “dumb blond cheerleader.” I’m pretty sure she’d have to know her right from her left in order to learn all that Cheerios choreography. And just how many songs do these Glee kids have to learn for their competitions? It’s getting ridiculous. We did like 5 or 6 for our Christmas concert in Madrigals and we practiced those songs for four months. They don’t need to put together a big production number once a week–that’s bananas!
Also, Vork!
