Fringe

I just had a thought…

Fringe is in a position to do something that almost no show has been able to pull off successfully.

Suppose, at the end of the season, Olivia is killed. For real. No fakeouts, no “just kidding”, no saved by some improbable fringe science at the last minute. She’s dead.

It isn’t like Anna Torv would be off the show or that Olivia would really be gone. After all, she’s still alive in the other universe (and may get a bit pissed when she realizes that Walternate was behind what happened to her).

Consider, they’ve already been slowly killing off the other “duplicates”. Charlie only exists on the other side now. Broyles on the other side was killed and only exists on this side. And there has only been one Peter all along.

The only “duplicates” (among the major characters anyway) at this point are Olivia, Astrid and Walter. Why not get rid of one of them?

It would seriously be one of those WTF? moments that Fringe has pulled off several times so far. I could see them doing it.

So, I’m calling it now… Olivia dies in the Season 3 final.

intriguing theory…and it is a possibility…

My gut tells me that they won’t…only becuase they may have something more frakked up in mind
the machine doesn’t “destroy” a universe, per se…it merges the two universes…and creates a third - some of the interviews that have online with the creators of the show hint at it. Although…granted that could be a way of killing off our Olivia and bringing her back again…as a third-livia (prime-livia?)
Again, you could totally be right, and it would be an intersting and cool move for the show…just throwing out another theory

Interesting possibility. io9 actually posted in a morning spoiler about 2 weeks ago with possible proof of this ending, so the rumor is out there already. You still get credit for calling it.

I hadn’t really thought too much about the fact that there are fewer and fewer duplicates. One problem with this is that there are several minor characters who are still in both verses - Lincoln and the Massive Dynamic scientist dude , for example - and several other characters where we haven’t seen a duplicate in one verse or the other, which may mean they don’t exist or may be just because we haven’t seen them - Fauxlivia’s ex boyfriend, the alt-verse cabby, Sam Weiss, Nina.

Now this is complete specualtion on my part - not based on anything, but one thing I find intriguing is the idea that
the machine may actually end up merging the two verses together instead of destroying one or both of them. If there is a merging, is there room for only one version of every person? every structure?
EDIT, Whoops! Sorry davidj0207, just saw your post which I am kind of duplicating here. Added spoiler cover for my speculation.

OK, I’ve barely looked at io9 since they did their site redesign a while back (mainly since it simply doesn’t load for me the majority of the time) so I didn’t know I was repeating a known rumor. I’m still calling it.

Sam Weiss is way more involved than he wants to let on; all those “first people” books, remember? He’s probably from wherever the Observers are from (and they’re probably the one’s behind all this anyway).

we are sooo frakked

Great. Now I have a REM song stuck in my head.

((I’ll leave which song as an exercise for the viewer))

It’s the End of the World as we know it…

…and we are fraaaaakkkkeeedddd (isn’t that how it goes?)

It occurs to me that part of Altlivia’s anger at Walternate is probably the other unspoken half of her sentence “Your son is over there.”. As in “Your son, the father of my child and the man I love, is over there.”

Oopsie…

Welll, Walternate will use the knockout argument if she wants to risk her Lovers or her kids life. One will has to go.

I have a big smile on my face after watching this!!

Haha, you’re on to something!!

Awesomeballs!!

I don’t follow enough fringe fandom, so I bet this theory is nothing new and way obvious, but after this week’s episode, I’m starting to get a lot of “Sam Weiss is Henry” vibes. (Or maybe in a more twisty sort of way, in that Sam Weiss isn’t Henry, but is supposed to be Peter/Olivia’s child instead of Peter/Fauxlivia’s child, or something)

 • His concern was that Peter and Olivia get together, and all would be all right. For him, if he’s their kid, then that makes sense why he’s adamant that that needs to happen.
 • Walternate turned the machine on over there using Henry’s blood. Now the machine is rejecting Peter. But Sam wants to see the machine.

It seems rather cliche but then again, I thought Fauxlivia getting pregnant and having Peter’s child was a bit of a cliche and obvious- and it happened (just a lot quicker than I expected. :D)

Sam Weiss is Henry from the future. He was sent back in time to protect his parents from the terminators sent by SkyNet to… wait, wrong series.

I certainly got a vibe like this off this week’s episode too. Partly I think it was the hair actually that accentuated it, but also Sam’s expression when concentrating really reminded me of Peter & Olivia’s “determined” faces.

A nice video how they accomplished the animation part in L.S.D.

Had already suspected that they used some CGI-assisted acting for the character models.
