"Fitness Club" Thread

I vote R2D2 bathing suit but I always vote for R2

Nike!! that’s awesome!! can’t wait to see you in March!! (those R2 swimsuits are cool, aren’t they? I wants one!! )

awesome Nike! I’ve personally found exercising isn’t the hard part, the hard part (at least for me) is eating healthy to go with it

I’m not really huge on sweets, however my big problem is I LOVE bread and salty thing like cashews…which in small doses can be healthy but I don’t eat those in small doses…

I won’t be at this meet up but I’m thinking I can do 2012! would be nice to meet everyone! especially the fitness club folks who all support each other in here!

I’m still sick, I think I might finally starting to get better. I feel like a living person and less like death.

Awesome about the 10 miles! Are you training for a specific run/race?

ran 10.5 today

and no I just figure the more I can do the faster I’ll lose the weight atm

I am however considering entering a half marathon that runs this summer! then maybe if I can stick with the fitness…a full marathon in 2012!

hope you feel better MeMyself but good to hear the recovery has started!

all right. gonna bite the bullet and commit myself, here.

Signed up for the 21 day bootcamp with the hub’s & my trainer, complete with calorie plan, etc.

I’ve been doing bootcamp twice a week for some time, now, and feel stronger and more active.

Let’s see what 21 days straight can do!

Go kitty Go!!!

I totally agree and it has certainly been a shift in thought and action for me.

Starbuccaneer, safariBob and Nike - congrats on your weight loss and good luck with your goals. Lets keep motivating each other onward.

Bkitty – awesome about the bootcamp!

I am hoping to get back to the gym on Monday. My new strength routine is rough and I am sure missing a week is going to make it tougher. I have lost 25lbs since July, taking it slow and steady. I agree that exercise is (almost) easy compared to the nutrition. I have a hard time getting it for some reason. My goals are to keep training, build a solid running base, run some local 5k’s, the Ohio warrior dash and work toward running a 10k and improve my nutrition.

Here is to a 2011 full of health and fitness goals met!

oooh I saw a tv special on those once, should be interesting! be sure to tell us how it goes!

Thanks so much Lady D, Default Prophet, Darth_Raven and Memyself your support means a lot.

Darth_Revan_Rules

That would be fantastic! If you come I promise to show you my before and after pictures.

bkitty

That is so great bkitty! I’m waving my pom-poms in the air for you.

Heya Gang,

Well holidays are over and I’m back at a computer! I’ve missed a whack of action on the Fitness Club thread:eek:

BKitty - awsome with the BootCamp!!! Has it started yet?

Nike - I’m hoping to be at the meetup and can’t wait to meet the rest of the Fitness Club Folks. I lost around 90 lbs in 2010, so I’ll flash my dirvers license for a before and after photo.

Memyself - I hope you’re feeling better!!! Awesome on the 25lbs in 2010! If you’re interested, there was a good study out of the University of Florida I found a while ago on the degredation of muscle and fitness with ‘abstention’ from excercise. A lot of it over a week is mental, as measurable muscle loss won’t really happen until 14 - 18 days! You’re still strong, just keep believing in yourself!

and Darth - congrats on 10.5 miles dude! Having both the fitness to do endurance running, and the intensity for PX90 is OSSIM!! I did diamond pushups in your honor this morning as part of my shoulder day.

It’s going to be a great year everyone, and I’m pumped to meet whoever can make it to the meetup!

On the personal fitness front, being away from my routine sucked. Too much baking and food lying around. Felt really bad about not having the willpower, but after two good days back in the gym I know I can crush the ten pounds I put on over the holidays!!!

PS: I originally posted this in the EVE thread a while ago, but I figured the Fitness Club might get a kick out of it. I took one of my workouts and wrote some fan fiction around it as my EVE character Garlon Das… Sci Fi + Fitness: “you got your fat-free peanut butter in my calorie reduced chocolate…” http://rocwieler.com/2010/11/08/understanding-by-garlon-das/

Welcome back Amberite, don’t worry we’ll whip ya back into shape!

I still haven’t been that good about consistantly sticking with strength training, it continues to be an issue with me for some reason

the good news is however I got to 11 miles tonight!

though I must admit being fit isn’t my sole motivation in my sudden explosion in distance being added each go, I met an awesome girl who has been giving me tons of motivation to keep pushing ahead! (oh and get this she likes Trek MORE than me :open_mouth: )

Of that I have no doubt sir! I actually put in an extra 30 minutes at the gym this morning fully expecting some self-loathing

That is more OSSIM than you realize… long story, but I did the same thing once before I went to college, and it ended up with me competing at the provincial level in triathlon… Guys are so predictable

=O

for example of the OSSIM I got a message last Monday on facebook before I left for work, it contained a quick 3 minute video of her talking to me aaaaand at the end of it she does the Vulcan sign and says ‘Live Long and Prosper’:cool:

pretty sure at this rate I’ll be at Marathon status soon enough…or end up destroying my body in the process

going to attempt doing a full P90X tomorrow, gotta ride the good progress into jump starting my sagging strength routine!

Started walking again a few days before New Years, and hitting the gym. Climbed a mountain on Jan 2 with GWCers bkitty and the Hub (and still feeling it) That’s San Diego and the Pacific Ocean waaaay out there.

Looking forward to finding some mountain trails nearby to hike.

Trying to do at least 30-40 min of speed walking a day minimum, and increasing day by day, as well as weights at the gym. Legs are sore, but in a good way.

Nike: Awesome!!

wow thats a really nice view!

I want to get into doing some hiking/biking this summer

That’s OSSIM Topgun! /jealous!!! The rain has set in in the pacific northwest, so I can vaguely make out mountains in the background. Everything is wet… :frowning:

Sweet workout this AM btw. Standard hardcore cardio, followed by a bit of a toned-down core routine (might have overdone it on the obliques earlier this week), but BOOM on the chest workout. Personal bests in both the pec-deck and bench press (both weight and reps). I feelz me some pokey-chest coming! I just switched my pre-workout drink from “NO-Shotgun” to “SuperPump-250”, so I’m wondering if it made a difference, or if the placebo effect is in full force. Gotta love the macho names they give these things…

BTW, good little article on Lifehacker today about curbing appetite after binging over the holidays (yeah, I know that feeling). The article gives some of the reasons why these tips work too. http://lifehacker.com/5724520/how-can-i-get-my-appetite-under-control-after-eating-twice-as-much-as-normal

TL;DR version:

  1. Slow down when eating
  2. Pay attention (studies show multi-taskers eat more/are less full)
  3. Drink one or two glasses of water before a meal
  4. Eat several smaller meals
  5. Exercise

No rocket science here, but good common sense.

That’s so awesome! I thot you were on the East coast, Topgun…?

Well, I officially gained no weight over the holidays (didn’t lose any but that is a-ok given the tasty pie I ate and my grandparents’ constant wine pouring). Sadly, I think all the progress I made with physical therapy for my foot in December was erased during my doc’s 2 week vacation. I am in paaaaiiiin and can’t exercise right now. Meh.

Awesome news on holiday restraint in the face of pie and wine!!! Crappy about the foot though. Have you tried water running? Waaaay back when, I tried it once when I was injured. I felt like a bit of a freak, but a lot of people swear by it. Sending tonnes of “get-well-soon” vibes your way!

How’s everyone else doing with their 2011 goals? Great leg day in the gym today after cardio and calisthenics. Lunges and side lunges always make me walk funny the next day. I guess I should consider stretching
