"Fitness Club" Thread

So I’m so not in the league of most of you amazing folks, but I have recently made strides at taking back control. On Jan 10, I started counting weight watchers points again, and as of last night, I’m down 12.6 lbs.

I’ve decided that accountability is the biggest part of it for me, so I finally decided to post here. I like the idea of community support, and with this group, I know support is what it will be.

Hopefully before too long I’ll be working toward a training goal, but for right now, I’m glad to be seeing the pounds drop.

Apollymy, that is so frackin OSSIMM!!! Congratulations on the 12.6 - that’s nothing to take lightly  I was just walking back to the office with a coworker when I read your post, and I got kinda misty-eyed. So damn proud of what all the alpacas are achieving together!!

We’ve all got your back! Welcome to the “Fitness Club” thread

Everyone is kicking ass, i myself maintained over xmas after losing 3 stone (45ish lbs) last year from august 2010 till xmas…Now I’m back in the gym, running, swimming. It’s going to be all good.

first of all, welcome Appollmy and BishopMontanha! I’m loving when I see more faces in here! trust me its nice having a group to come back to for support (see story I have from today towards the end of my post)

ok so today I made my friggin half marathon on the treadmill!!! it took me 1 hour 59 minutes and some extra change seconds and was the hardest physical thing I’ve ever done (probably wouldn’t have been so bad if I didn’t run out of water at the 11 mile mark!)

and now for the story I promised, yesterday my boss had brought donuts into work for everyone, I politely refused saying I was on a diet and trying to eat healthier

so today as I was eating lunch (he had eaten an hour before) what happens? my boss comes in with a donut and sits at the table next to mine and says to me ‘dang I love donuts, you sure you don’t want one?’ (there were leftovers from yesterday) as I was eating my carrot sticks

don’t worry folks I didn’t partake! and maybe I’m overreacting a bit but I just thought that was a real dick move to do, which brings me back to why I’m loving this thread for support!

Amberite - responding to your earlier post, I think I can see how you’re doing it early then, when I use to work out in the mornings I would go to the gym too, was always easier to get up and get to the car and wake up on the way but now I work out at home and its so much easier to just go back to bed

That is a dick move! People often try to push stuff like cookies on you when you have politely declined, and that is annoying but at least not purposefully mean. What your boss did is simply not nice! If (s)he does it again, you may want to say, “Boss, that is not helping me stick to my nutritional goals, and it’s unpleasant. Please stop doing that.”

I actually had a similar issue this weekend with the GF. She really wanted a donut from this amazing local bakery. She knows I’m trying to eat more healthfully and is generally supportive. But she bough a dozen donuts to share with our 3 friends on Saturday morning! I was like, “hi, this is why moderation is hard.” I said that while eating 1.5 donuts.

That, of course, wasn’t mean. Just not very thoughtful on her part. She shouldn’t have to think about my food issues all the time but it sure can be frustrating sometimes when she doesn’t.

Oooooh well. -2 lbs this week, so the donuts apparently came out in the wash.

well at least you came out positively in the end! I guess I’ll have to lay it out like that if he does it again, I just hope it doesn’t become common, I have another coworker that if he sees this happening will instantly jump on the bandwagon, the kind of person that you never want to let know you’re having a bad day because he’ll try and make it worse because he gets some kind of joy out of it

It’s Lastday!!

Yay! Tonight we go to the last of our 21 day Crush It campaign to get fit!

Next week we go back to 3 times a week till we make up the rain-out days from Nov/Dec, then twice a week after that.

Supplement will come from the gym and occasional hike!

Tonight’s workout is the most brutal, nonstop circuit. 3 rounds and done! I decreased my 2nd run time by nearly 4 minutes- I’m hoping to shave a couple more off for this one! Fingers crossed!

Can’t wait to sleep in, tomorrow!!

Go Kitteh Go Kitteh Go!! Seems like yesterday you were dreading the start, and now you guys have made it! Nice work.

way to kick butt BKitty!!!

ran another half marathon tonight and upped the speed from 6.6mph to 6.7mph on the treadmill tonight

I’m about ready to just fall over and die, ironically its not because I’m out of breath, in fact when I end its not because I’m out of breath its because my legs are so burned out :frowning:

Thanks for pulling for us during this exhausting time- pure ossim.

Thanks- so glad it’s over. Picked up pedometers for the hub and myself. Tomorrow we start walking so we don’t lose momentum.

And that’s crazysauce, man! I only run when chased. lol

fwump

I love how after a week of running two half marathons, doing two P90X routines, and actually not having a bad eating day at all I somehow manage to GAIN 1lb…

I was just sitting here feeling sorry for myself for the same thing. I know in my case there are other factors (initial big loss could have been water weight, stress from medical tests I had done this week, etc) But a gain still sucks.

I use that all the time.

Easy there… it may be muscle!

Weight fluctuates!

I was sure I had no weight loss- just tone, bit I’m down 8 lbs and the hub is down 14!

Today we are doing an hr walk to loosen up from last night’s brutal finish of the 21 day Crush. Finish Up Friday- 3 circuits as fast as you can: 1/4 mile run, 50 Star Jumps , 40 Push-ups, 30 Burpees, 20 Single Leg Squats (per leg), 10 Monicas (push-up position jumping feet up to side-home-side=1) named for classmate as a joke that stuck.

Previous times for me were 39 min, 35, 32, and this time: 26!!!

I was wrecked!

Did I mention this is all after a 15-20 min warm-up?! Ack!

You go girl! Keep it up!

Hiya, I just wanted to pop into this thread and say that you guys are very inspiring. Keep up the great work! I love the support that everyone is showing each other!

I was able to keep myself of playing DCUO and did a good hour of cardio. For me it’s quite a feat to do this during the week-end.
Not that much interesting but I wanted to share

Just knowing we’re in this together is worth it!

I know it’s very minor compared to the amount of work you folks are putting in but I managed to do the EA sports active on the wii.
My quads are Killing me and I cannot sit down or go downstairs without pain.

It’s not “aaargh aaargh I’ve pulled a muscle” pain more like “ohh i’ve not exercised in ages it huuuuurts” pain
I know it’s only a wii (pun intended) game but I feel proud of myself at kicking off this, it’s a thirty day exercise program, with rest days, differnet exercises which work different muscles and so on. I know it’s not the amount of effort that you lot put in but still, I’m proud of myself.
