I was hooked by the mini-series. It was like nothing I’d seen before. I felt it conveyed the experience of a cataclysmic attack perfectly. They Cylons were frightening in a completely real, non-campy way. And the characters seemed real and interesting. I was completely hooked.
Yes. I remember thinking to myself. What the hell was that and I want more!
I was hooked when Starbuck said, “It’s a gift shop.”
That did it for me too, although I think I’d already been seduced by Baltar’s apartment.
I’d already heard good things about BSG and thought I may as well give it a go for just over five of our British pounds on Amazon. No expectations, but then I watched it with my other half and we were blown away by the realism and the all round high quality of the writing, acting and production. We both thought that this was exactly what science fiction on TV should look like - it was completely new, refreshing, stunning and, well, pretty damn near perfect - a work of art. The world simply hasn’t been the same since…
I miss it… but there is weird sensation of joy. I mean, I finally got an ending after 30 years.
I ended buying 2 more speakers and began to re wire my surround sound. Got the ole man tools (small hand saw, wire pullers (glow in the dark) screw gun, tape measure, wire cutters, ect) out and started drilling holes in the floor from the basement and running wires to boxes I put into after making big holes in the drywall.
I added the song that plays over and over again in the series - I don’t know what it’s called but it’s the one that first played in season two I think when Adama gave the lighter to Lee right before a mission - to my most recent playlist - so yea I started crying in my car on the way to work this morning.
:o
My one sheer joy this past friday with no BSG was that I got to stick it to one of the other waitresses I work with. Every Friday when BSG is on we have to go and fight about who gets to leave first. She KNOWS that I’m not only on a double from my day job, but that I love BSG and that I have to get up at 6 am the following morning to do another funfilled double and if I didn’t see it on Friday night, it would be Sunday night before I got to see it and someone would have inadvertently spoiled it for me. BUT, on Friday’s that bitch had seniority over me so it was ALWAYS her choice. Last Friday she made her little, hmm, what should I do tonight to terrorize Angela, and I got the pleasure of informing her that BSG was over, and therefore so was any power she ever had over me.
Bitch.
