First Friday without BSG (ever agaiin)

see…now…dagnabit…already had ot pull it together last Friday…already had to hold in the tears when I heard the last podcast from RDM saying “this is the end of Battlestar galactica”…now ya got me started again…:frowning:

it really is liek that relationship anaolgy that Audra said…you knew it was coming, the relationship was gonna end…you thought you mentally prepped yourself for no more BSG loving every friday…I miss the BSG lovin…

SO now you move on…find someone else cuz life goes on. But you know you’ll keep that pic of BSG somewhere where the new show won;t find it…hopefully…cuz that’s just a conversation you dont wanna have…

It just ain’t the same.

sniff

It’s dusty in here. There’s something in my eye.

I haven’t been forum’ing much this week. Is anyone talking about a week-by-week rewatch, starting with miniseries?

I decided to start with Firefly, Disc 1 and go from there.

You can’t go wrong there.

The wife and I are giving that a go. Only 2 episodes in so I don’t know what I think of it.

While there will never be another BSG:

Might I recommend KINGS on Sunday nights NBC 8:00PM. Only two episodes in and very strong show very rare haven’t seen this much potential since Jericho but it will not last due to poor ratings despite high critical acclaim.

I get the feeling that KINGS will be very similar in style and tone to Caprica.

Thanks for reading

Me too! I watched “Serenity” (pilot episode) tonight.

So now I’m feeling it. Since I don’t have cable, I usually get up early on Saturday morning, download BSG (or, during the first half of the season, watch it for free on Rewind, grumble, grumble), then head off to work. Half my day at the Omnimax is spent sitting around while the movie plays, so hopping on the forums to join the post-episode discussion is a great way to spend a working Saturday. Usually, halfway through my day, the podcast posts, and I’ll start listening to that too.

I’ve got a podcast, but no BSG. I rolled out of bed late this morning, grabbed leftovers from last night for my lunch today, and headed out the door. I’m still kind of groggy, whereas usually my brain would be spinning as it processed the latest episode. Saturdays are (mostly) boring again.

Las night was not the same with BSG. :frowning:

Once The Plan airs, I am going to rewatch BSG. In the meantime, I guess I better get caught up on Dollhouse and Terminator: SCC.

For the first time in a while I went out last night. Ya’know amongst other people.

So, all day yesterday I was thinking about where I was a week ago, and how cool BSG is. Sigh. What a ride. Still trying to adjust to not planning Fridays around BSG!

And hey, Pike - I agree - Keen Eddie was hysterical and fabulous. Especially Eddie’s dog.

Pete totally owned that show! And Pippin.

It should have been called “Pete and Pippin.”

I had a concert last night then went out afterwards (and stayed out way too late), so I didn’t have much of a chance to think about it. I and another group member who’s really into the show did sing its praises to someone who is curious about it but has never checked it out.

See, I don’t like the relationship analogy. Instead, I see BSG as one of those massive novels I like to read every now and then that take months to slog through but are so good that putting in the time pays off brilliantly. At the end you just want more, so you go back after you’ve let it sit and percolate for a while. So now we can go all go back and “re-read” BSG from the beginning with a whole new perspective, and perhaps discover new wonder in the details.

For now, though, seeing as how I may never get a chance to finish another book until Elena is in school, I’m doing a Firefly rewatch each night before bed. It’s frakking shiny!

It was the only show I actually made a point of watching…-_- I have no clue what to do now…there’s Smallville and Eureka and Wolverine and the X-men, and Man v.s Wild and Kings…>.>

I need a new show…OH WAIT THERE IS SANCTUARY

and is anyone excited about Caprica?

On another note yes it is like a novel you never want to end, you just want more of it and yet it is also like a relationship because you saw the end coming you both tried to deny it even as they striked(took down) the set, but you both wanted it to go. Sure there will be conventions and forum disscussion, novels and even roleplaying sessions but it’s just not the same:(

Dollhouse gets a LOT better with episode 6, so give it at least that long before you make up your mind.

ETA: Grrr! Argh!

ETA2: So yeah…I’ve been watching Dollhouse and Terminator: SCC. Those are both good…not as good as BSG but good enough to keep me tuning in each week. I watched the first 2 eps of Kings, also good. I’ll have to look into this Eureka thing–I haven’t heard of it before today. I was so desperate the other day (I’m on spring break right now–spring quarter starts Monday, so the free time thing will go away) that I watched the first couple of eps of Legend of the Seeker. No offense to anyone, but fantasy is not my usual thing, with a few exceptions (LOTR, and…uh…I have also read every single book in the Wheel of Time series, can’t believe I’m publicly owning that–LOL–and a few others); I generally don’t cotton to teh magicks unless Willow Rosenberg is involved. Anyway, Legend of the Seeker (I can’t call it “LOTS”) didn’t suck. I didn’t love it, but I might watch more of it in future moments of desperation.

ETA3: I miss BSG. I would have been sad last night if I hadn’t been out helping a good friend celebrate his newly minted divorce.

Just finished re-watching Daybreak 1 & 2, had a good cry and I feel strangely calm about it all. All the little nitpicks I had don’t matter to me right now. All I can think of is what a great ride this show has been and how lucky I was to watch it the way I did.

Hey Armando. What a wonderful marriage of words from two of our favourite universes. I’ll be using this phrase

I certainly am. The world of Caprica as portrayed in BSG and in the preview clips seems so seductive, visually and culturally. When I watch scenes set on Caprica I feel as if I’m in a place that’s something between an well-written alien planet in a great SF novel, and ancient Rome. Delicious. Maybe I just need to go and live in Vancouver…

I’m at peace with it. The finale wrapped things up and I’ve recently come to realize why RDM decided to end things now. The Season 4.5 is Very Disappointing… lead me to realize the degree to which the re-imagined series fed off the zeitgeist of the Bush years. And with the new administration, it was time for BSG to pass into history as well. For the record, I’m not disappointed. Seasons 4.0 & 4.5 were about bringing the story to a close and I feel they did a great job. So I was ready for it to end, both because it was time and because I was prepared, even if I will miss it.
