Speaking of IFC, did any of you happen to catch the “brit-com” David Cross made for them and the BBC, “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret”? Freakin’ hilarious!
And extremely short-lived (albeit by design) at only six episodes.

I have Todd Margaret on DVR, didn’t get to it yet.
Speaking of IFC and one-season wonders, Action is coming!
RT @sepinwall IFC adds a bunch of great '90s sitcom repeats - http://bit.ly/eDqQsZ E <-Action, Ben Stiller Show, Mr. Show, Larry Sanders…
i loved every episode of that show! at least they got a little warning so they could hurry and wrap up the main storylines though. More than most shows get
I get it! That’s funny cau…
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!!!
one season…launch a franchise.
Seriously. I loved it when it was. i still find it entertaining. YES it was campy.
YES, Starbuck was a dude…(eeehwww.)
But it was a fun show to watch…
/rant
Galactica 80!!!
It had flying motorcycles!!! That could turn invisible!!!
Just kidding…
But it did have ONE good episode, the one with Starbuck stranded on the asteroid; or was it a small moon? Anyways, that one was good.
Even that one (see my avatar) was mostly a recycled BSG episode.
I present to you:
The Tick (live action), one lone season. I lament Fox hating entertaining shows ::le sigh::
This version is arguably better than even the cartoon version. The characters are perfectly written and acted, the pacing was fast, the gags were on target…the whole thing was just magic
I don’t recall there being an episode that was slow or unfunny.
Christopher Lloyd in the pilot as Arthur’s boss was priceless:
“METCALF! Head of Shipping and Receiving, third floor. Metcalf! He lost all his game pieces just like you, cashed in his 401k, and bought a jetpack. Now the poor bastard needs a machine — to POOP!”
And my runner up:
‘The Oblongs’ it’s an animated show about… there’s… and his legs… just watch the intro:
Did anyone else watch Bochco’s Iraq war based “Over There”? I know certain groups had issues with it, but I thought it was incredibly moving with strong, engaging characters and some real nice direction. I would have loved to have seen where they would have taken that show given more time.
Just thought of another one of my all time favs ever: Clerks the Animated Series. Only 6 eps (2 actually aired and in the wrong order).
Great moments: The pilot ep begins. “Last time, on Clerks” ::test screen::
And of course the wonderfully overdone “Why are we walking like this?” gag
Oh and the fact that the second ep is a flashback montage mostly of the first ep.
Thought of another one! (slow day at work)
‘Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace’
oh yes. the quirkiest of quirky of british humor. I can hardly describe it well enough.
Garth Marenghi is a Stephen King parody who stared in a fictitious tv show in the 80’s and this is a documentary like reshowing of the episodes interlaced with interviews by the people involved.
Only 6 episodes, but I looooooved them.
I discovered this late night on some cable channel a few years ago and by the magic of YouTube, it’s here for your viewing pleasure:
I just rented Freaks and Geeks from Netflix on your recommendation. I am watching the third episode entitled ‘Trick or Treat’. The character Bill dressed up as Jaime Sommers, aka The Bionic Woman. I can not breathe. I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time. I am literally in pain.
OK. Now I’m going to rewind and watch that part again.
That was my favorite episode of F&Gs! So funny. Loved the Bill character in the show.
I am pretty bummed that Fx has cancelled Terriers.
Aaaaand another one!
NBC’s ‘Fear Itself’, it was an Outer Limits-ish anthology that was directed by a different person every week. Just one season, 13 episodes (hmm, I wonder if 13 eps was intentional).
I thoroughly enjoyed all the episodes and was sad when they didn’t renew it.
It is however on DVD, and available Streaming from Netflix
lolz. Agreed. I remember watching this show the first couple of seasons then I stopped for whatever reason.
Then a few years later I happened to flip onto a new episode and I was like “This show is still on? And who are all these people?” If I remember correctly they had replaced most-to-all of the original actors by the end of the run a-la-Sliders.
Anyone else watch Blade: The Series? I loved it.
It was ramping up at the end of the season…huge cliffhanger, then…canceled with no resolution.
grr. argh.
Just like they did with Terminator: SSC. (though that did get 2 seasons)
Kind of miss Journeyman and The Black Donnelys. Felt like they could have been good if given a full season
Journeyman reminds me of Tru Calling. It got murdered by the wrtier’s strike whereas TC jsut couldn’t get off the ground, but both shows had a limited mythos for quite a while before they really started to dig in.
And get canceled.
I liked Blade the series as well.
