I don’t mean who was technicaly the best leader… who do you like the most?
KIRK - of the star trek capains. Picard was to ‘by the book’, Sisco, was a mall manager, Janeway, was little to wishy-washy, and Archer was, well Archer…
But my Favorite Captain of all time is …Captain Solo…
Had to go with Picard since he was Captain on TNG, which is the ST that was on when I was growing up. Though - James T Kirk might win after the new movie coming out.
Hush yo mouth, girl!! There is only one Captain James T Kirk and his name is William frakkin Shatner.
goes back to corner sucking thumb
i love the evolution of Sisko and how he is flawed, even similar to Dukat in my point of view. So I can’t say that I love the character himself as much…
I would say I loved Captain Yates but since she ain’t one of the choises, I voted for Picard.
Hey! Get your own corner!!
I grew up with James T., and he has always been the embodiment of a Starfleet Captain…everyone else is a wannabe. Although I like them all…
Considering that the new ST cologne Tiberium just came out it feels wrong to vote against JTK but if we’re taking favorites I have to go with Picard.
Have to go with Sisco. He’s the embodiment of the warrior/diplomat that is the epitome of a Starfleet captain. He can successfully deal with all the trials of managing a diverse space station, but can also raise a little hell with the Defiant when necessary. Also a loving father and great cook. Most importantly, he’s not above giving Q the occasional sock in the jaw that he so richly deserves…
Picard has twice as many votes as Kirk?
Shuffles off muttering something about handbaskets.
I like Kirk in that he’s a go-with-your-gut, tough leader that is never afraid to make the call that needs to be made. That being said, I have a man-crush on Jean-Luc Picard, even if he is the only person who ever grew up in France with a proper English accent.
He’s a brilliant and inspiring leader, but more than that, he knows when to use his people and what they’re best at. More than that, he’s great at pushing his people when it needs to be done.
Going to have to go with my childhood favorite: Captain Crunch
The Phone Phreak? Yeah, that should have been an option.
Captain Christopher Pike - the bravest of them all.
So say we all.
Say it!
Hippies!!!
gets off your lawn
I gotta go with Jean Luc.
Loved James T. Kirk, but Jean Luc Picard is in a class all his own, for all the reasons that Jarathen stated above.
Capt Janeway gets no love. She’s on her way toward your home to find you and kick your asses.
(Unfortunately she got lost on the way to your place, and it’ll take her years to find her way again.)
Something about janeway never set right with me as I watched Voyager. I actually imagined Kirk as a stud. He always seemed like a kick ass captain. I always felt that Picard was wise. I felt his warmth. I would kind of forget that these guys were actors on a set. They were larger than life. These were the captains of the Enterprise. ( I also think Archer had this as much as Bakula could… but I always thought of him as Sam on a starship)
Janeway always felt like they were handing an actor some James T kirk dialog and she was acting it. I almost felt like "check out this actor up there pretending to be a starfleet captain. She just never felt right. I don’t know why. She said the right things, and did the right things… but she never conveyed the feeling. I grew to like her charcter over the years. But, I felt more like she was a starfleet officer that happend to be in charge of the ship, NOT a Captain as we had known them. Was always disapointing.
Now Sisko, I felt, was what he was. It fit him. A senior officer … but not a captain. As the show progressed… he became an epic captain in the shoes of Kirk and Picard and he grew into the rank as well. That’s ok with me. After all, he wasn’t a captain and was supposed to be a little flawed when he came on board.
Janeway was never the captain I wanted to look up too. I can’t put my finger on it. I know a lot of it is her voice. that almost growl she does when she is acting like she’s mad or about to do something kickass. It always seemed kinda comical.
Chakotay always seemed odd to me, because he seemed to have the personality of a classic Captain… but not the opprotunity. I felt that he would have been a beievable captain.
- trivia* Ron Moore was speaking about Voyager at a con I attended in the early 2000’s. He said that the first concept for Voyager was to have Captain Jericho be the Capatain, Janeway be the first officer… and Chacotay be a former Captain that had been Jericho’s first officer.
Jericho was going to die in the pilot leaving Janeway in command. Chacotay being the new first officer… but haveing more rank and expierience and a more maquis crew. This was the case up thru casting and initial press release. The idea was scrapped RDM’s oppinion was that the Star Trek people felt that Janeway would never be the REAL captain, hence they wouldn’t have “promoted” a female to Captain in the eyes of those concerneed about those things. She would only be a captain due to circumstance, and that wasn’t good enough.
As an aside to that subject. Trek is a fictional story. I don’t see why people get so caught up in Star Trek, like it’s an election. Like Trek creators have obligations to do anything except make a good show or movie. I wished they had spent as much time writeing good episodes as they they had maakeing sure we knew that the Captain was a woman. Strek helped beat racism by makeing a good show that happened to star 2 jews, a third jew pretending to be russian, a sotherner, a handicaped canadian pretending to be scotish, a black, a japanese and somtimes the boss’s wife. They didn’t talk about it in press releases when they had a black admiral in court martial… they just did it, as if it was normal. We liked the show. It happened to cross boundries. I don’t know anyione who ever said I love The Wrath of Khan because they had a diverse cast! the great thing about progressiveness… is you don’t notice it till after the fact.
Kinda weird about about some trek fans. My brother is a GayTrek member and avid Star Trek fan. He is ALWAYS gripieng about how there hasn’t been any gayness in star trek. Not to bust his bubble… but what about Jadzia and her wife,Mirror Kira and herself? or mirror Ezri? or Geordi and Data?
