Just gauging interest in watching/rewatching Excalibur. So far it’s just TighFighter and I.
I actually owned that poster when I was a kid. I wonder whatever happened to it…?

That is a wicked cool poster!
That’s the movie with P Stewart, isn’t it?
Did you leave Jersey for New England?
That’s the movie with P Stewart, isn’t it?
Well, he’s in it, but I’d hardly say he’s the star. Or even that major of a character.
I’m undercover at Bunktime’s place, investigating certain things, so I need to fit in, ya see.

I know, but that’s all I know about this movie, that PS is in it.
Make sure you try the chowdah.

So are you in for watching it on that basis alone?
It’s based fairly faithfully on Le Mort d’Arthur and is really the quintessential movie of Arthurian legend. Even the special effects held up fairly well for a movie older than you.
I saw this with my step-father when I was nine…it was a big step in our relationship. He bought me the required Twizzlers (a requirement to this day for all movies), a medium popcorn we split and sat down for the movie.
…things had been going pretty well through the movie until a sudden and very violent birth scene. He didn’t have the nerve to cover my eyes, somehow that would have broken the trust between us. Afterward I remember him looking at me and saying,
“You ok?”
“Yeah” I replied.
“Ok…well don’t tell your Mother about that scene.”
“No problem”
I will admit I have always had a curiosity about going back and watching this…especially to see how crazy (or tame) that birthing scene is.
Well, that explains a lot. I was out of the house at a neighbor’s Labor Day barbecue this afternoon, I when I came home I had a sense that someone had been sorting thru my DVD, VCR tape, books and games collectiions.
If you’re still in the attic Beave, knock three times on the floor and I will leave some pretzels and Sam Adams Summer Ale at the foot of the attic stairs for you
Excalibur was the movie I saw on my first car date when I was 17 years old. The girl (Stephanie) drove and they carded her at the movie theater because it was rated R and she didn’t look over 17. Ah…it gives me pangs of 'first love" teenage angst to think of her…ahhh youth.
I just couldn’t wrap my head around King Arthur. He’s a dead ringer for Rich Hall.
I first saw this on a lazy Saturday. My parents were out and I was alone in the house. I went looking through the VHS collection and saw the cover. It looked awesome and I wondered why my dad was holding out on me. The minute ‘O Fortuna’ burst out I was hooked. It was also my first boob scene and i soon realized why i wasn’t supposed to see it. Katrine Boorman is forever Igrayne’d in my memory.
This was also the first movie I bought on DVD, Amazon $5.99, a steal in my opinion.
I’m down for a frak party. When you planning, Poofy?
Count me in too. Night would work better for me—and a little bit of lead time so I can Netfiix it.
Sounds like a interesting movie, but I have never scene it. Is it important to have scene it before you frak it-IYKWIM? Will other fraks spoil the plot?
Well, it’s King Arthur, so the plot isn’t that mysterious.
Same here. Evenings work and I need to netflix.
They have a factory not far from my apartment. When I first moved here, I couldn’t figure out why the air outside sometimes smelled like cherry candy.

I don’t really remember it being all that outrageous (there are two birth scenes, IIRC). Maybe I just didn’t notice it among the rest of the brutal violence.
Very. Smart. Man.
Now that I think about it, this may well have been the first R-Rated movie I ever saw.
I never noticed that before, but yeah, I completely see it.
I still use sniglets on a fairly regular basis. No one ever has a clue what I’m talking about, but what else is new?
Actually, I’m a little startled to see as much interest as there has been. I was thinking the week after next, after the Animatrix (assuming there is a rewatch planned). Does the usual Sunday at 4 work in general? I know the turnout’s been low for the last few rewatches, but I figured that was more the subject matter than the schedule. I’m open to suggestions…
That depends on your ability to do two things at once. Even if you’re familiar with the story, the movie’s pretty engrossing (IMO), so it might be easier to have seen it beforehand. That’s your call, of course.
I’m definitely gonna watch it before the frak party, I’m no good at multitasking.
