Excalibur Frak Party

Oh man, I totally would have participated in most if not all the Frak parties (Star Wars arc and Matrix Arc) if it weren’t for the 4 pm scheduling. I’m sure other married with children types can related to this: On 4 pm on any Sunday there’s inevitably a wife, a kid or a home/yard project that demands my attention–and rightfully so.

From memory:
“Annul nathrak, uthvas bethod, dochael niev’e.”
-Toaster’s Charm of Making (coffee)

I loved (and obviously, quoted) this movie when it came out. It was finally Arthur and co. done right.

Boorman’s magically over-saturated cinematography. Carmina Burana and Turandot on that evocative and memorable soundtrack. Merlin and Arthur’s relationship feeling like T.H. White’s version, but looking nothing like how I’d imagined previously. …the cherry blossoms.

Everything seemed universal and personal, beautiful and dirty, hand-made and magical, hopeful, ominous and tragically sad all at the same time.

I’m not very good at making live events (like frak parties) but I will try. Definitely will add my 2¢ afterward.

As an aside, anyone besides me surprised that director John Boorman was also the writer/director of scifi “classic” Zardoz?

Same here. I know this doesn’t work for everyone but when me got me jammies on is best (9pm EST). During the Star Wars frak parties my daughters were at their Grandmother’s and I was able to participate but the Matrix stuff I missed for the reasons Thot mentioned. We could do the same time BSG is usually on, (10pm EST Friday)?

What a twisted set of priorities! Family over sci-fi? Freak. :stuck_out_tongue:

I look forward to it. It’s great to see that others love this movie as much as I do. And I still mutter the Charm of Making to myself like it’s a prayer.

I’ve gone to great lengths to avoid that movie, based solely on that picture.

I didn’t know Boorman was involved, though. Neat.

That works for me as well. Opinions?

Did someone just say something about Married with Children Re-watch?

There’s an idea. It even had sock-stealing aliens in an episode, so it counts as sci-fi. :stuck_out_tongue:

I believe that Married with Children was on TV before I was married and before I had children. So for all intents and purposes, it was sci-fi to me back then.

I hope you aren’t saying that it is now Reality TV. If ThotFullLady heard you describe her as Peggy you may be done for.

ThotfullLady is probably about as far from opposite to Peggy as a person could be. As for Al Bundy? well, I suppose there’s a little bit of “Al Bundy” in each and every one of us.

Bad visual. Baaaad visual. Time to kill a pig in my mind.

Well I’m not married and don’t have Kids so the Sunday time has always worked for me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Friday at 9:00 or 10:00 works for me. Late Sunday or Sat. I’m either watching my shows or busy.

Well … I don’t want to be a spoilsport, but I really couldn’t start any later than 4 or possibly 5 p.m. Eastern.

I think 4pm Eastern is a good time. Couldn’t there be multiple frak parties since it is so hard to find one time that works for all?

Multiple frak party? Are you inviting me to an orgy? Time and place, then, please?

Lord of the Flies or Deliverance?

That could work. Frankly, I’m not so sure I can manage a late Friday night with a movie that’s over two hours. I have to work early on Saturday.

Being a grownup sucks. :frowning:

Haven’t you looked at who’s shown interest so far in this thread? Does “sausage party” mean the same thing in German? :stuck_out_tongue:

If I heard that, I’d be expecting a barbecue.

Ooooh- harsh!

You would be disappointed. Very, very disappointed.

Shhhh, careful RMHPH. Don’t you know that Germans are embarrassed by the sausage talk? I heard there was a sausage competition years back where all the nations came together and decided which country had the best sausage. Germany was voted the wurst.

That is just painfully awful. Funny, though.

This is awesome! Did you make it?
