Eve Online

OK, I have downloadedthe free trial. My name is Meilien & I’m only partly through the tutorial thingie. How do I join the channel? It doesn’t appear to be slash commands like I’m used to.

Click on the Channels and Mailing Lists button then go to…Create? I want to say and type in GWC and it should pop up on your little tray of chats

Yes… yes it was.

Have you met the man? :stuck_out_tongue:

(Ba dum bump. Splash!)

Actually, after donning the sunglasses, I was waiting for the CSI: Miami theme to break out.

“YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

Commander Declan has…

Drones V
Scout Drone Ops V
Engeneering V
Gunnery V
Mechanic V
Gallente Frigate V

4.6 Million SP total. Going for Sentry Drone Interfacing V right now…

He may have been warping out when you uncloaked. It takes time for a BS to align to its destination and get up to speed.

Also, a bunch of Frigates could take down a BS, depending on a lot of different factors. 5 Imicus frigs with 3 Tech II light drones each = 15 drones, plus a little DPS from your ships. Could have been interesting if he had a bad fit… Or, even better, if you had 5 Vexors with Tech II medium drones. As long as you were fast enough to keep away from his guns (stay close and orbit him at top speed), well, he would have a bad day…

Or he may have thought you were going to tackle him so bigger ships could finish him off.

And if he didn’t have any drones, you were most likely safe. It is very hard for a BS to track frigs close in.

All of this is in 0.0 sec. If you were in Low Sec, and there are gate guns, and you attack a ship in your frigs, you will go down VERY fast from the gate guns.

To echo some of this, I recently got a Rokh battleship up and running with pretty much just large guns on it and I found that major disadvantage when I tried a level 2 mission with a bunch of frigate rats and maybe a few cruisers. They never really threatened my tank, but I couldn’t hit them when they got in under 10km. At 60km the large guns can shred a frigate, but under 10km the tables turn. My webifier helped get a few hits on them but it was slow going. I definitely need to get some short range weapons on that frame; missiles or smaller guns, I don’t know.

Has anyone spent much time in Wormhole space?

No, and unless you have a well-organized fleet of ample firepower and tanking abilities, you don’t want to go anywhere near wormhole space.

Yes, this is true. However class 1 or 2 wormhole space can be solo’d if needed. The sleeper’s there can’t warp disrupt you and there is no more than 1 sleeper BS in an individual spawn.

So I decided to hop back in, I’m Leoben Thrace and Judge Mentok.

See you out there.

I am starting to think that once i get a new computer since i am on this old one since my good one died a frankenstonian death. every see a computer burst into flames in your kitchen? is BAD VERY BAD.

i should pull my old CEO outta retirement, get caught up on whats changed and see if i still have my BS and raptor i used to use in the races.

but i digress when i get a new comp i will pop in here and see if i can meet up with some of you. maybe i will resurect the LOLA mineing corp.

Hey o/

I just joined. My main eve toon is Sakai Nariyama and my alt is Khatera

Welcome aboard, Sakai!

I’ve been putzing around the intro. Took me a while to get the Mac equivalents to the mouse commands (developers: “right click” should equal “control click” kthnx)

I had to quit after the initial ‘training drone’ mission, and I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do now.

A couple of thots, Pike:

First, the Mac version of the software is running in an emulation, so you have to remember to use control instead of command. Using a two-button mouse will save you a lot of hassle. (I’m playing primarily on a Mac, too, so I feel your pain.)

Second, if you’re planning on doing any shooting on a Mac you’ll want to set up different hotkeys for activating high-slot ship equipment. The game defaults to F1 for slot 1, F2 for slot 2, and so on. Unless you’re running with function keys enabled in OS X you’ll have to add the fn key to get those – which sucks. I setup ctrl-1, ctrl-2, and so on instead to give me an easier keystroke for opening fire.

Third, you can start out by following the in-game tutorials to a station and an agent there will give you more training missions which should get you through the basics of simple navigation, shooting, mining, and such. If you get confused as to how to get an agent or what your agent wants you to do, post here – or feel free to hit me up with questions. It’s pretty confusing at the start, but once you get though this stuff it gets a lot easier.

At that point you get to make some decisions about what you’d like to do. Wanna trade? Wanna mine? Wanna shoot things for the forces of good? Wanna be a pirate? All options are open, my friend.

Welcome! I saw you in the GWC Chat a couple of times. Don’t be shy – we’re pretty friendly in there.

I truly am not shy. I must have been afk or deep in pew pew. Sakai lives in 0.0 in Scalding Pass for the time being. Khatera is care bearing and not doing anything to speak of.

I let my subscription lapse (again). Will probably renew after finals which take place over the next couple of weeks. Wish I had remembered to do one of those 23d training dealies before it lapsed. :frowning:

Sonovabitch. I meant to undock and instead ‘left ship.’ So now I’m in a capsule, and I can’t find my frakin’ ship.

I don’t think I’m long for this world.
