Eve Online

Should be ok in Incursions.

Yeah, but I try to theme ship names based on what they’re used for, and what better name to use for a logistics ship than a famous engineer?

Yeah, that’s what I’m planning on using it for. And the name is per class, not per individual ship (for example, my new Raven is also Tony Stark).

Nikolas Tesla then. (: That fits because of its cap regen role.

Finally got around to finding my question in the Alliance Tournament broadcast. About 9:30 in

My bad!!! I totally forgot I was supposed to find that for you. I’m sorry.

Here’s my current hangar bay. I have a few shuttles/noob ships scattered around, but this is most of my regular ships.

Dirk Pitt… Interesting choice. From the books or from the movie?

Either. That’s my exploration ship, so it seemed like a good fit.

Eve Survival has a new link. The old one stopped working, but I dunno the story behind it.

So after a nearly year old absence, I re-upped my subscription. Holy crap things are shiny. I’m digging the look of the captain’s quarters, although part of me wishes they were on the ship. Unfortunately, a drawback of all the new shiny is that my powerful video card is having overheating issues once again. I may need to invest in a new, larger case, or more fans. Seeing your GPU top out at nearly 80 C is a little disconcerting.

Mine goes to 85 C. Other people have had their PCs die altogether.
So Incarna just blew my pc up . . .

Try not to run two PCs with CQ (Captain Quarters) running on both at the same time. Don’t (do not) run three or more clients with CQ at same time. Disable CQ by going to Escape > Display & Graphics > Graphic Content Settings > Uncheck Load Station Environment.

Welcome back! Hope to see you in the GWC channel in game.

I read it when it first came out. I don’t agree since it’s about PVP. d:

Here’s a follow up. Even though I don’t like to PVP, I must admit I think this is a good article.

EVE Evolved: Getting into your first PvP frigate

Seems like I’m posting daily.

Pick up the latest snapshot of EVEmon. It has nice new features from the API changes.

Active ships, standings, sec status, current corp and alliance now.

If you been thinking there are fewer players in game, you were right. Now, I’m not one to say, “EVE is dying.” But, “EVE is stagnant” may be apt. We’ve gone from 53,000 max players during AT9 to 34,000-40,000 currently.

Not all curves are pretty

"On Failheap yesterday, Trebor from the CSM asked if someone could put together 7-, 30-, 90-, and 180-day rolling averages of the number of EVE players logged into the game based on data that’s available on the EVE Offline website. That website’s primary purpose is to act as a check-point so you can see – if you can’t log into the game – whether that problem is just you or the server itself is down. But as a side effect, it tracks the availability of the EVE API by querying for the number of players logged in at any given time… and then as a second side effect, publishes daily averages and maximums.

Liang Nuren managed to download that data and put it into a CSV spreadsheet. On a whim, I took that spreadsheet, collated the data, and generated a graph of the rolling averages that Trebor asked for. Batolemaeus then took my graph and drew lines to indicate when various EVE expansions were released. Here’s the final product (click to embiggen):"

Continued at link.

It hasn’t really felt like fewer players, to be honest. Of course, Eve is so much bigger than when I started I don’t really think my frame of reference is reliable.

OK, this is just amazing on so many levels. Please, don’t fit Navy Ravens (or any Raven) like this.

Yeah… no. Not even frakking close.

Well, I did let my alt’s account slip (so, down to 1 sub), and I haven’t logged into my main (other than some skill-queue editting) since early July. So it seems I am a statistic too. So far I have no plans to cancel EVE, but I am “letting the batteries recharge”. We’ll see if I get bitten by the bug again.
