Ender's Game Re-watch

In a continuing effort to keep the Forum alive, here is another installment,
a re-watch of Ender’s Game.

Ender’s Game

2013

2 hrs

Asa Butterfield - Ender Wiggin
Harrison Ford - Colonel Graff
Abigail Breslin - Valentine Wiggin
Ben Kingsley - Mazer Rackham

Young Ender Wiggin is recruited by Earth’s International Fleet to lead the fight against the Formics, (the Buggers ) a genocidal alien race which nearly annihilated the human race in a previous invasion.

I love this novel. I have read it many, many times.

The movie was a really good effort, not perfect, but good.

I think the Battle Room scenes are outstanding. Very much as I imagined them from the novel.

Ok, now to begin.

“When I understand my enemy well enough to defeat him, then in that moment, I also love him.”
A.E. Wiggin

And this really is the main truth in the novel.
And to Ender’s life.

Great battle scene - the first encounter/war with the Buggers.
Mazar Rackham gives his life to stop the great ship.

“…smartest kids.”
They’re geniuses.

I love Ender.

And the ever-present Col. Graff and Maj. Anderson.
Always watching, always evaluating.

Out comes the monitor.

Payback time from the jealous bullies.

Ender & Valentine.

Peter was way more dangerous and scary in the novel.

Knocking him down was the first fight.
I wanted to win all the other afterwards.

Ender and Col. Graff
A complex relationship.

All the Wiggin children are geniuses.
Peter, the oldest, was too twisted.
Valentine, too compassionate.
Ender has qualities of both.

The shuttle scene is pretty much as the novel.

Bean! I love Bean.

Wiggin always insightful.
Graff trying to isolate Ender from the other “launchies”

Battle School as in the novel.

Ender always shows his superior quality.

Sgt Dap, as in the novel.
