Dragon*Con 2008 - Aug 29-Sept 1

I will be there too, we should probably get a list together as we get closer so we can have a meet-up or something.

In addition a group of us may be hosting a party, but don’t have any of the details yet (VERY early stages).

That would be awesome!

Tossing around several costume ideas at the moment, narrowed it down to four so far. Jayne from the opening scenes of “Serenity”, BSG Colonial Marine, New Jersey (some other things have to happen for this to one to actually make an appearance), and John Casey from “Chuck”.

Wait, you folks are going in costume too, right? :stuck_out_tongue:

I will likely not be in costume, unless you count my Bamber Bunnies, Aaron’s Angels or my Apollo/Starbuck Shipper Shirts costumes. :stuck_out_tongue:

But you will see lots of Colonial Fleet uniforms, especially at the Colonial Fleet party should it happen. And there are LOTS of people in costume throughout the weekend, you won’t be out of place at all.

Didn’t figure I would be in the whole scheme of things. Was mostly referring to the royal “y’all”.

Yeah, lots of people wear costumes. I might need to shorten my list some since I don’t think the three of us that are going and our costumes and our cases of Dr. Pepper and other assorted items are going to leave much room for us considering that we are planning on driving. Just hope gas isn’t $4.00 a gallon by then.

They have added Morena Baccarin (Inara, in case you weren’t sure :))

I was thinking about doing Dragon-Con this year. However, since I am goign to Vegas for the season premiere, I won’t be going to Dragon Con. Probably next year. Instead I am planning on Gen-Con!

Dragon-Con was easily one of the cons I ahve had the most fun attending. It was several years ago and I was lucky enough to go to a panel that had Andreas Katsulas. Now that he is no longer with us, I am even more happy that I went.

The best thing I saw was the first day at the parade. They had a Storm Trooper drill team with Darth Vader leading them. That was the biggest hoot! We also attended a Klingon party n which Gau’ron attended. Lemme tell you, Klingons know how to party! So many fun memories.

Anyone else thinking about going?

I already have airline tickets, D*C tickets and a place to stay. So yup I’ll be there.

In fact I know of at least 25-30 people going from Skiffy.

Heh…er…people from Skiffy eh? Do they have threads in those forums anymore that aren’t “appreciation” threads?

BTW, knew you were going :p:cool:

Trying to keep this thread alive to maybe see if we can get enough folks for a meetup sometime.

I am. The guest list is pretty impressive.

actually i really wanna go…ill have to check my forensics(debate)scedule and ask my parents the…maby. Kinda dumb but- do you need the 65$ membership to get in?I would only go 1/2 days and dont have lots of money

They have single day passes. Only available at the door and the price has yet to be published.

As for Skiffy, the only threads I frequent are the appreciation threads (no trolls, and everyone gets along - and we do have some pretty interesting character discussions from time to time) :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, definatetly going to try and form some sort of meet-up one night, and I know the Skiffy group is going to try and do a meet-up.

As things get closer I will post some helpful hints. I also normally put together a spreadsheet of all of the “tracks” events that I feel is easier to read then the stuff D*C puts out. When I get it done I will post and then I can e-mail to those who might want.

Even though I just got back from 2 conventions in two countries, I am still really looking forward to D*C.

They do have day passes, but they are normally pretty pricey and standing in line is NOT fun - it could take hours, especially on Saturday.

I would suggest if you are going for more then one day pay for the weekend membership if possible - it will save you lots of time.

And for anyone thinking of going - PREORDER - the line tends to wrap around the building for those purchasing the day of. I only stood in line for 10 min - a friends husband had to buy his the day of, went before us and stood in line for over 2 hours.

Yup, lot’s of good info being posted at the Livejournal community linked from DC’s website.

No way I would wait until the day to buy my ticket, that’s for sure. Also, it appears that all the host hotels are booked up. Someone I know tried to book a room at a hotel nearby and I think they were having trouble there as well.

Raemani, are you doing anything with the Colonial Fleet?

Not sure yet if we are doing anything with the Colonial Fleet. One of our memebers is also a memeber there. There was talk of doing some sort of Skiffy party, but it is still in the early stages.

CF normally does a party - which last year was in a little tiny room and not everyone got in. I think they were working with D*C to get a bigger room for their party.

As for the hotels - I know there is something going on in town that weekend. There are 4 host hotels (I know 3 were full, when they added the 4th). They just recently added the overflow hotels - where the buses stop.

They should still have room in them, but you never know.

I think there are two major college football games that same weekend and those folks are using the DC codes to get cheaper rooms.

TCF is doing a Nugget party Thursday night and a regular party on Saturday night I think. Oooh…my Pizza Rolls are done… dang…false alarm

I’m going to be doing the parade with TCF this year…hope I don’t fall out dead from the heat.

I will totally be there. Already have the time off work and everything. Once I realized that all those people from BSG would be there - it was a done deal.

I am definitely going; it looks like theres going to be a lot of great people there. My friend and I just got our hotel room a few weeks ago; one of the overflow ones.

Which one?
