It just occurred to me that the Reavers bares an uncanny resemblance to reavers in Firefly/Serenity. I hope Bioware doesn’t get sued for that one.
I have to say, I’m a little annoyed at the ending choices for a female PC. Maybe it’s counting on the fact that I would have romanced someone other than Alistair?
Sorry, I just could not go for that Antonio Banderas-Puss in Boots-elf-man ho, Zevran and Leliana was nice but…meh.
Here were my sad, sad options:
I went with option three because it didn’t involve the death of Alistair or female PC for totally selfish reasons. I’m a terrible Grey Warden. Though, after thinking about it for awhile, it strikes me that it would be an interesting premise for a sequel.
lol - me either! It’s a pretty good specialization, this time around I want to make Shale Berserker/Reaver
I’ll prolly have 4 playthroughs (all male) to get each ending. I haven’t finished my Dawrf warrior one, but I’ve already started an elven mage (level 19 just before landsmeet vs. level 9 Broken Circle). My mage annoys me though. I’m not an artist, but I feel ashamed that I made him look like a caricature of a Black man (I’m Black myself).
I’d delete and restart him if someone could screenshot the proper appearance settings to make him look better. Plus, I’m not happy with the voice I chose, but that’s a more minor matter.
Anyway, back to the endings. My Dwarf will prolly sacrifice himself (I messed up a lot of things i my first play through and won’t use that save for when DA 2 inevitably comes out). My mage may either sacrifice Allistair or have a baby depending whether I decide I can truly live with his appearance. My human noble or Dalish/City Elf will choose the other ending of the Mage.
Then, I have to decide which class and origin to use to pursue the Loghain ending. I’m thinking Rogue, but I dunno which race. I might have to be tank or healer because I won’t get approvals from Alistair and Wynn in that playthrough. Nor, Shale since I might as well do all the “bad” stuff.
Edit: I’ll prolly be tank on the “evil” play through, but I can’t seem to fit in a Rogue in any of the endings without a 5th play through .
Ha! Similar situation, here. I started a new character, because on my other I wasted some talents on archery and such. But I’m starting to not like her name / styling as much as my first character, even though they are extremely similar. I also hate my dog’s name. And all of this I have come to realize after completing Broken Circle and the Arl of Redcliffe. I leveled high early on after discovering that the darkspawn vial XP glitch turned out to be legit (if you bring three vials of DSB to Duncan, but without the treaties, you get XP and you can keep repeating the conversation for XP. Obviously, a very tedious and boring method for any serious amount of leveling, but wasn’t a total waste of time to get a couple levels ahead of lockpicking / persuade, etc.
I also tried the Dalish elf origin, but just couldn’t get a feel for that character. I should have tried all of the origins out to begin with. I’ve grown too attached to female/human noble / rogue.
Oh, and that was another thing about the ending. I wish that Alistair wouldn’t have such a problem with making Loghain a Warden, because I’d have no problem sacrificing him to the Archdemon!
Didn’t hear about that. BG2 is full of those.
I might try that since I’m early in my mage play through. I just hope I’ll get back to finish my Dwarven warrior. I have a tendency of not finishing old games (or storylines) if I start a new one. I never finished BG2, but played (and thoroughly enjoyed) up to chapter 6(?) 3 times.
Another idea is to do each origin and their respective Blight quests counterparts. Like Brecillian forest for the elf origins.
Lol! Yeah, Loghain really only has one use. d: I cut Alistair some slack because Loghain got Duncan killed and tried to kill (or succeeded in your game) Eamon. Both father figures to him.
Oh I totally understand where he’s coming from (see: Decapitated Arl Howe), I just wish I could explain and have him see the big picture.
Or if Riordan could have mentioned the sacrifice bit earlier on…? *sigh
Or, now that I think of it, if I can feel okay about making Alistair sleep with Morrigan to save us with the demon baby, why not just make any other random soldier a Grey Warden?
Okay, I suppose that’s a little cold.
Fastcart disapproves -1. d:
Reload to a previous save and retry conversation to not incur penalty. ^^
Oh,-1 is practically nothing! I can gift my way out of that.
But, you lose the chance for romance. d: Just kidding…
Besides, you dunno which gift set I like. Definitely not alcohol like Oghren.
Haha! Fair enough. It’s almost impossible to not get at least a +1 for any gift, except that time I tried giving Alistair some jewelry.
I believe he says something to the effect of: “No. Don’t do that. Really.”
There are lists for proper gifts you know? (:
How long, or rather, how advanced should I be before attempting to take on Flemeth?
I was 16 on main, 15-16 on companions. After my third of four Blight quests. This is also after killing the High Dragon in Arl quest.
I got and tried killing Flemeth around level 10 and got my sorrybarb handed to me.
People on the web are bragging they won at level 12, but take that as you will. At level 16, it’s still a tough fight (retried twice, won without anyone dying on third attempt). So, I think it’s doable at level 14.
I strongly advise letting Shale tank as dragons never try to turn her into a chew toy.
on my second play through as a female elf mage and romancing leliana
I screwed up the Leliana romance my first go through as a good human noble warrior so I felt compelled to get it right with Leliana
next will probably be a rogue, haven’t decided if it’ll be dalish elf or another human noble, and go bad and do the Morrigan romance
then maybe a year down the line from now (come on now Mass Effect 2 is creeping up on us here…) I’ll do a dwarf female warrior or something and do the Allister romance
no intention of doing the Zevran romance, he annoyed me in my first play through then betrayed me at one point, so even though I was being good in this play through I didn’t even want him hitting on my elf mage so I killed him first chance I got =D
also what do you guys have to do to get the bioware site to link with your games? I have a Bioware social net account but I’m not entirely sure how to link the games up
Just make sure you’re logged in while you play. It’s how it works on the PC version. Dunno about consoles. You can’t force an update though. Sometimes the site lags behind a day or a weekend or so.
I laughed so hard at this. That town cryer must have been hanging around surfacers too long. d:
I’ve decided to just do partial play throughs to get Dual Wielding and Archery Achievements. And, a full play through to unlock all of the Rogue talents. I’m not sure how much fun I’ll have though.
By the way, I know these people don’t exist, but I get so much joy giving lip and/or telling off Isolde and Loghain. Approvals be darned. d: Am I alone in this?
so is it even possible if you’re a human noble male when you’re talking to the queen towards the end if its even possible to convince her of the ‘marry me’ persuade option?
my human noble was a warrior and I didn’t put any points into persuation so obviously I failed, and frankly I hated that woman but I thought it would have been interesting to place myself on the throne =P
end game spoilers
so far my elf mage is doing well, but I’m concerned about the ending, I don’t want her to die!!! I want her to live happily ever after with Leliana =P
but convincing Allister to do the nasty with Morrigan (or so I’m told is an option if you’re a female character) to spare yourself just seems like a bad way to end an entirely good person play through
