Dragon Age II Spoilers Thread

That was just a swarm of noob Darkspawn, not one of the most powerful non-dragon demons in the game.

I actually just thought of a theory to explain several things about the franchise, including him.

What if the original Darkspawn were actually created by ancient Dwarf mages, not the Tevinter. Those dark Dwarf mages created some magical things like the idol we found to try to corrupt other dwarves and take over. Some other Dwarf mages fought back but were losing ground until they managed to cut dwarves off from the Fade (explaining why there aren’t any Dwarf mages now) and trap the Darkspawn deep underground.

Either their spell is weakening, or something weird happened to Sandal when he was a baby (I remember either a conversation with Bodan or a codex entry that said he found Sandal in the Deep Roads or adopted him).

Centuries later, a Tevinter was taken by a demon and released the Darkspawn, explaining the Chantry’s origin for them. The thaig Varric’s brother found out about was actually the shallowest of the cities taken over by those dark Dwarf mages, which is why it was so different from any of the other thaigs he knew of and had the idol.

I wouldn’t mind having my party in the next game to include Hawke, Isabela, Leliana and Cassandra (both in that awesome Seeker armor. I would really love to find out what is up with Sandal since he keeps turning up surrounded by bodies and now a frozen ogre.

I think the idol was simply something the dwarves made out of lyrium but had no special powers but was corrupted over the centuries by the presence of demons and the darkspawn.

I wanted to kill Anders when I saw the Chantry explode, thank theMaker the game let me. I have a fondness for the Chantry, thanks mostly to Leliana and the Chantry mother who helped rescue her from Marjolaine’s betrayal.

I love that the game makes it so hard to like mages despite my sympathies for them. By the end I was ready to kill all the mages and Templars except for Bethany, Merrill and possibly Cullen.

The thing that bugged me is that Oriso asks me to go out and see what the mages who are sneaking out at night are up to. I find a meeting between a group of mages and a group of Templars; presumably the more moderate members of both.

Both groups immediately yell “Look! It’s the Champion” and attack. I have to kill all of them.

Then I find another group. Same thing.

I kept wanting to go "Hey, you guys are talking! Great job! That’s exactly what I wanted you to do but the game wouldn’t let me. I was forced to take sides. That bugged me.

But yeah… Anders? Dead.

I thought that was rather odd as well, especially since I was almost completely pro-mage the whole game. The only thing I did that even came close to siding with the Templars was letting that one keep his spot after being tortured by the blood mage and doing that 1 mission for Meredith.

I actually wanted to be able to just take out Meredith from the beginning of Act 3 and let Cullen take over to prevent things from getting out of hand, and then once I found out Orsino’s secret I wished I had been able to take them both out at the beginning of Act 3. I don’t think it would stopped Anders but at least it might not have ended up in a holy war.

Does anybody else enjoy the party banter as you’re walking around Kirkwall? I think it may be my absolute favorite part of the game because it’s just so good in this game, way better than DA:O IMO. There are so many awesome conversations that I spend a good portion of my time just walking around listening to my companions talk and laughing my ass off.

Yeah, I love some of the comments the rest of my party makes. My favorite is either Varric (talking about his brother)

“That son-of-a-bitch! … Sorry mom”

Or Merrill to Avelene.

“Can I use your mirror? Mine has cracks in it.”

But now my latest annoyance. Finished the game with my LadyHawke rogue. Had briefly romanced Fenris then taken up with Merrill and moved her into Hawke Manor. Fenris turned against me when I sided with the mages and LadyHawke shared an “I love you” moment with Merrill just before the final battle. About halfway through that Fenris attacks me and falls.

Then, at the end, Varric says that Fenris went off with the Champion. Um… what? Earlier in the game he had even commented that “Daisy” and Hawke made a cute couple. Did I miss a memo somewhere?

Any banter between Aveline and Isabela is absolutely hilarious, especially because they have this whole frienemy thing going on. Actually, nearly any party banter involving Isabela is hilarious. Her “I like big boats, I cannot lie” line is probably my favorite in the game.

Apparently there is a bug in the epilogue where it uses the first character you romanced, even if you end up picking someone else. A lot of people are getting it because of Isabela, because doing the scene where she shows up at Hawke’s manor and then Hawke sleeps with her makes it easier to get her to come back at the end of Act 2.

Or if the first character is dead. It said my LadyHawk ran off with Anders even though she killed him.

That would be quite a feat for Hawke to accomplish.

I haven’t had the bug happen to me because I’m such a sucker for Isabela that I haven’t been able to make my Hawke’s romance anyone else (kinda like once I got the achievements in DA:O all my Warden’s hook up with Leliana). The romances seems to be the buggiest part of this game because there are even bugs on the import from DA:O with the Leliana and Zevran romances that become very obvious when you meet up with them in their cameos. And apparently there is supposed to be a conversation with Varric about your romance in the game that appears to be working consistentnly only for the Anders romance.

You can meet Leliana outside of the final cutscene?

And I never met Zervan in my game, probably because he’s dead in my DA:O import.

Yeah, I never really romanced Isabella but she did make some comment about “So, Fenris is it?”. Of course, later Varric commented on how I and Merrill made a cute couple so I’m not sure what the game thought was going on. I thought I had killed Fenris during the final battle too.

It’s part of The Exiled Prince DLC I believe.

indeed, you even get to ask her “…as in THE Leliana, the companion of the Hero of Ferelden?”

Seeing Leliana made my day the first time I played it because she was my favorite companion in DA:O but I was bummed that she didn’t say the correct thing about knowing my Warden. I think it’s awesome that The Revered Mother who helped Leliana escape during her DLC is now the Divine and that she’s made Leliana her left hand. It’s making me wonder if she might have been a Seeker all along since I just replayed DA:O and realized she joins the party wearing a necklace called the Seeker’s Circle or something similar.

Great. So now I have to buy the DLC. :frowning:

Think I’ll wait for a few more to come out and see if there’s a deal for a bundle.

Oh,ever wonder how Anders got those explosives into the Chantry in the first place?

Yeah. Suicide bomber kittens.

It’s actually one of the better integrated DLC characters Bioware has done yet, but the addition of Leliana makes it awesome in my book since I wasn’t expecting to see her at all.

I do wonder how he did it since he asked me to help him and I flat out refused.

i just finished my third gane as a mage…fantastic

so…

we should start a pool to see who will be the BIG BAD!!! in Dragon Age 3

Flemeth?

that baby in morrigan’s oven?

a new arch-demon? (the grey wardens seems to know something)

the mages?

the templars?

frankly…i think all we need now is Andraste herself to come back and burn all those sinners to ashes!!!

oh…and let us just add a pinch of tevinters and Quanari…just for shit and giggles.

I’m not sure but since there has been talk by the devs and writers over at Bioware of Cassandra playing an important part in DA3 I’d wager it will probably have something to do w/ the holy war Anders started and/or finding the Champion and/or the Warden.

I have seen a few interesting theories on what Flemeth is and what might be up w/ Sandal that I’d like to see addressed at some point.

Now that I think about it, it’s a little like KotOR. Revan/Warden disappears after the first game, then The Exile/Champion follows. Although we never did get the third part of that story. I know there’s an MMORPG that might cover it, but I want a proper KotOR3 damn it.

Another things, is it just me or did Sandal seem somewhat …um… ‘slower’ this time. Maybe it was the character model that was slightly changed.
