Dollhouse

Once again, speaking as someone from a non North-American, non-English-speaking country: there are huge revenue opportunities out there for American TV networks!

Think about it. How do I get my Dollhouse? How did I get my Battlestar? Lost? Futurama? Right. Torrent. Why?

Because there’s no other way for people outside of North America to watch their favorite shows. I’d gladly pay one or two bucks to see my favorite shows every week online, when they come out. But the networks won’t let me. Their content is only available in North America. And that stinks. There’s millions to be made. It’s a global world. Get with it!

I finished up last night’s episode a bit ago. Wow! it keeps getting better and better. The Ms. Lonelyhearts reveal was shocking, and Echo is much, much more interesting now. I can’t believe there are only 3 episodes “left,” so to speak (or 4 at the most).

The problem is that the previous system is geared toward moving cans of film around, and the new system makes that a silly notion.

There are a ton of ways to monetize that, but the old entrenched industries are always resistant to change, because it may mean they make less money. Here in the real world, computers and networks mean that distribution isn’t a difficult thing, but the distribution companies are understandably upset about this fact. I’m not shedding any tears for them.

I’m behind a week. Just watched last week’s big escape episode last night. I haven’t had much good to sa about the show, but that was a good one. First time in weeks I haven’t been bored and skipped ahead, or got up to do something else. Still watching, looking forward to Friday’s episode.

Ditto.

what you said.

Getting over the translation hurdle may be a problem in some realms. In some places, you have to follow a certain timetable or hire that nation’s translators only. Some cultural affairs legislation would have to be cleared to solve some of these problems.

Just saw fridays episode- it was pretty good, but not great. I’m not too sad to see it go, and hope Joss has better (more firefly-esq) material after this.

Oh yeah, I loved that moment at the end when Echo and Mr. Dominic have that last little conversation. I think that was the first time I really felt excited for her.

I also noticed some quirky dialogue when they were all
high on the virus
. I hope we get to see more of that without needing to resort to
getting the characters drunk or stoned
or something.

Yeah, after the last episode, Dollhouse has stopped being just a vehicle to see scantily clad ladies on network TV, and it has instead a become a really interesting story. It has become a story with a destination in mind… I can see that this drama is headed somewhere, and Echo is destined to be involved in incredible things in the upcoming episode that will have my undivided attention. The Lonelyhearts reveal and the 30 conversation between Dominic and Echo in the van at the end have told me that Joss knows where this is going, and I cannot help but keep watching.

(Come to think of it, it is exactly how I was feeling about Firefly when Fox killed it… Aww, I just made myselft sad again.)

Maybe a twinkle of light at the end of the tunnel but according to the Watch With Kristen blog on E!..

Dollhouse Update: Contrary what you might have heard this week, Dollhouse has not already been canceled. Sources tell us that Fox is “100 percent in the decision phase” regarding a renewal.

If they do Cancell this to early and Joss has to do another Movie to finish the story what do you thing he will call it…

Echo?

What exactly does that mean, “100 percent in the decision phase”? Does that mean that FOX is “100% definitely in the process of trying to figure out maybe they would cancel it”?

I think it’s FOX-speak for, “We haven’t made up our minds one way or t’other.”

I think its fox speak for “its canceled, but we havent finished the paperwork with the advertisers yet.”

copudl very well be

Love Joss - but he has to come up with some Buffy/Angel/Firefly goodness if he wants ot avoid cancellation

In all fairness you gotta leave Firefly off that list…:(:frowning:

I don’t know that Dollhouse deserves salvation. It’s just not terribly good.

They can cancel it, but I get to keep Sierra.

I agree and disagree with you. The hidden potential in this show is when they aren’t doing “dude of the week” 'sodes. The man on the street episode really started to bring together what is cool about this show. As they continue to twist the plot and explore its mythos it is beginning to make me interested. To be honest I stopped watching it and came back in on the Man on the Street episode. Since then I have been working backwards and the older episodes which probably weren’t as strong gain strength from the later episodes.
