Does anyone like where this is going???

Now don’t get me wrong, I love the show, but I am becoming concerned, almost irritated at what I am seeing. I mean the writing and the story in my opinion is still great, but I no longer feel entertained. I feel that now I am watching it just to get through it to know the ending.

Second, why must the mighty Galactica be lost? Because that is the road we appear to be on. I wonder if RDM is thinking that Star Trek fans all seem to be love it when they destroy the Enterprise and now is transposing that on the fans of BSG.

I am just getting up, maybe I am just cranky.

Actually, I thought the two episodes after the mutiny arc were weak and I was concerned the series would end poorly, but this last episode renewed my trust.

I thought it was one of the best in the series, and it sets up some interesting things for the conclusion. If they can maintain that level of quality for the conclusion it will be one hell of a ride.

Oh, and I totally want the Galactica to go out guns blazing and not colapse on itself without one last fight. It would be even more dramatic to see the girl go out fighting knowing she is doing so on her last breath.

Yes the quality I think it there, but it seems like they will be left with nothing. I mean nothing.

Sure, but I think that’s the point… for the Cycle to end (or begin again, or whatever the hell it’s gonna do):

  1. They’ll have to find Earth, or what will become Earth, or whatever.
  2. Once they find it, the Fleet will have to be destroyed or dismantled, marooning them with no FTL, and no way to leave the planet.
  3. New Cycle begins again, new analogue society chugs along, for a couple thousand years…
  4. Until such time the society develops space travel and AI, and the Cycle begins again.

Yes, how do you break the cycle? I think the death of Galactica is crucial as a next step in a blended future for humans + cylons. But when/where will a home planet be found?

Heh, I think I both agree and have an opposite opinion. Because I haven’t considered the writing great for all of Season 4.5, but I was entertained as well as intrigued by “No Exit” and “Someone to Watch Over Me”. However, some of the episodes I’ve sort of logged through, enjoying moments and brief answers, but not really feeling like I’d want to go back and watch the whole episode again.

I’m losing the feeling for the show too. All in all, it just feels like RDM lost his pacing. They overstuffed “No Exit” with info and then fluffed up and dragged out the two (minor) stories that followed it.

I liked this episode much more than the two that preceeded it but also feel like it could have been handled more artfully. Still, the amount of high drama going on right now is better than the All My Cylons that came before.

Yeah losing feeling is a good way to put it. I find myself glad it is ending, and that is a shock to myself most of all. Perhaps it is because the show as great as it was has been taken down a different path than I would have taken it.

I would have twisted it something like, say our Earth would have ended up being Kobal or something like that. Oh well.

I guess I am still upset from them destroying the Pegasus. I keep thinking as the Galactica dies about Pegasus…too bad you crashed it!

I like where this is going

I’m really liking the ride to the end, but I’m surprised that I’m glad to see the end is in sight, which I didn’t think I would be. BSG is a weird show in that I don’t think the creators’ goal is to always leave us feeling the way TV shows normally do: either warm and fuzzy or on the edges of our seats. The tone and pacing is different than before, but I’m not sure that I’d say it’s wrong, because it seems to be mirroring what’s going on in terms of the plot.

I think the characters–and the viewers–were all expecting to go out with the bang of a Cylon attack instead of the whimper of everything just falling apart, but we’re all slowly discovering that the whimper is a lot more painful to watch. I think we still will get the bang before all is said and done–Cavil is still out there–but I think we’re all sort of sharing Starbuck’s feeling of disjointedness after having had a clear path for so long and now not knowing where we’re going.

But, just because we don’t know where we’re going doesn’t mean we’re not going anywhere. I get the feeling that these episodes are going to make more sense when seen in the context of the finale, and I’m not at all worried about how they’re going to fit all the “answers” in. They’ve been layering in hints and clues that don’t make any sense now but that when we see where it’s all headed, they’ll click into place. Anyway, I’m keeping the faith.

Season 4.5 has been awesome(possibly excluding Deadlock which was just pretty good). I think the writers will end it correctly. I am a little concerned on pacing becuase it still seems like we have so much to learn but still I think it will end awesomely without any plot holes or missing information.

What Kappa said.

I don’t like where it is going right now for some of the characters - I’m scared for Helo, Athena, Hera, and poor Chief.

As for the overall story - it’s getting really good.

I agree, I had been feeling a bit dissatisfied but last friday might be the best episode ever. If the remaining episodes are anything like last friday… I’m in BSG heaven. Lets get all the answers out of the way, then Daybreak all three parts can unfold at its own pace.

I’m with you.
I’ll speak just for myself, but I find I’m still in shock over the double wounds of,
1- finding “Earth” devastated, and
2- the mutiny and betrayal of some fond characters.

If I as the observer have this reaction, the characters in that world must feel it ten-fold. The inhabitants of the BSG universe, specifically the Fleet, are exhausted in body, mind and soul.

But I hold out hope for a positive outcome.

Deadlock was just dreadful, at least in the second half. (Tyrol decides to up and leave? WTF?) I’ve got to rewatch the last one before I decide.

Deep breaths, Pike. Deep breaths. A wise man once recommended the same to me after I watched Deadlock.

It’s all about setting the table for the final 3 hours. Even just filling time at times.

In the frak party for ‘Deadlock’, some people brought up this point. I could see why he’d want to leave plain as day. Chief has always tried to do what is right. He has been a trusted worker and soldier. And how does he get re-paid? During the tillium ship incident, when he wants something and goes through the channels his simple demands are refused by the president and his wife get threatened by Adama.

He has been part of the resistence and knows first hand the prejudice of humans against the Cylon. Amongst the humans he is just a grunt to be used whenever and however with no regard for his needs or desires. With the Cylon he would be treated with reverence as a Final Fiver. Why wouldn’t he leave? Loyalty? He has been loyal to the fleet and it cost him much.

Pike, since you haven’t seen the latest episode I won’t spoil it but there is another scene between Roslin and Chief that just put the nail in the coffin for why he would choose to be with the Cylon.

But what if Robert Goo-lay was right and Kara is leading humanity to it’s end. What if humanity doesn’t get to survive(or at least 99.99% of what’s left in fleet). It’s been on Adm Adama’s mind since the first speech of the show that we may not deserve to survive. What if FF/Hybrids/Hera/skinjobs/a handful of humans are what get to survive? Maybe all humanity is descended from ancient skin jobs and after a dozen eons or so they play god again and slightly improve the existing model. Obviously though, resurrection technology would have to die which means the Final Five can’t survive this series, or they’ll just build resurrection again and Cavil will win (sort of)… It must be through natural reproduction
