Doctor Who 6x05 The Rebel Flesh

Reposting for emphasis.

It’s Memorial Day, man! We’re supposed to set time aside and remember… something?

Wait! Did they just show the same “Insider” twice?

“Rory takes a shine to another woman!”

Didn’t we just see that?

back.
“Where’s Jen. What have you done with her?”

Well Memorial Day remembers those who died in war. Maybe the Brits are like “hey! Two of those wars are against us! No Who For YOU!!”

I know. I was kidding.

Maybe the Brits are like “hey! Two of those wars are against us! No Who For YOU!!”

I like to think that all of our wars are against the Brits, either directly or by proxy.

“A real human heart! And you stopped it!”

Commentary on abortion debate?

Heh. Not bad.

“Trust me. I’m a Doctor.”

I just said that first part so my joke made sense.

The Doctor certainly makes copies of himself a lot. lol

He has a Plan?

I’m putting this in spoilers.
We just got how to fix the opening this series.
Woo! Quite the cliffhanger.

“Trust me, I’m the Doctor…”

Two weeks to wait for the conclusion, if you’re here in the States.

Speculation Time:

On the human side, Cleaves is the one to declare war, but on the 'gangers side, Jennifer declares war. I wonder why the Flesh version of Jennifer ended up more warlike, but the Flesh version of Cleaves ended up less warlike? Is there some kind of personality seepage going on?

This, although it seems too easy, too convenient.

Two weeks. Ugggh…

Ooooh! I honestly hadn’t thought of that possibility! I almost wish I hadn’t read that now.
On the other hand, the 1100-year-old Doctor in The Impossible Astronaut had met Jim the Fish and been to Easter Island. That means he had numerous adventures that he shared with River Song. Adventures of our 900-year-old Doctor hasn’t had yet. If the Doctor who died was the duplicate, then that means the original Doctor will never meet Jim the Fish and the memories of those adventures will be lost forever. Also, a large chunk of River’s relationship with the Doctor was actually with duplicate rather than the original. I don’t think they would do that.

On the other, other hand, though, River did say that she dated a Nestene duplicate once. “He had a swappable head. It did keep things interesting.” Maybe this is the guy she was talking about.
It just occurred to me why Rory might be especially sympathetic to the plight of the Flesh 'ganger version of Jennifer. He has the memories from when he was a Roman centurion. He remembers what it felt like to be turned into a plastic duplicate of himself, while trying desperately to hold onto his human identity.

That… is kinda mindblowing. But still, that has the same problem as every other solution has,
that its hard to believe how they’ll have the a Doctor running around for 400 years (his time) when they will have to regenerate him long before that (unless Matt Smith has a much stronger work ethic than we thought). They’d obviously do a jump forward in time, but it still seems a bit off for him to be having adventures mostly alone for that long (since his human companions would all die over the course of it if they went with him)
Yeah, good point, i’m surprised how much i’m liking Rory this season, he makes a nice hyper compassionate balance to everything going on. It was cool how when House was messing with Amys mind, he made her think that she’d been forced to leave him alone for years again. Showed she still has a lot of guilt left over from that.

Ok here a few things more.
In the opening, we see the Doctor having great adventures. in 18th century Europe and WW2 Tunnel building. What do we not see? Any companions or the Tardis. Not only that but when we see him with the Stetson hat. He is on top of a cool American car. This is not the way the Doctor normally travels. We have here what looks like a Time Lord without his Tardis. Kinda like when Pertwee was restricted to earth with Jo. Had to have Bessie to get around. This may be a red herring from Moffat, but it might be that simple. If that’s the case we know who is in the Space Suit.

BTW your addition is off. He is 900+ currently. When we see him in the stetson he says he’s 1100+. A lil over 200+ years give or take. That would put him where we see him in the beginning.
Still enjoying the ride though.

All the possibilities discussed in the previous spoilers give me goosebumps. I can’t wait until the end! Oh to be Stephen Moffat or Alex Kingston right now watching everyone make all these ‘wild’ guesses (but who knows if one might be right?!)!

Such a great episode and I too am not happy with the two week gap, in this case, absence does not make the heart grow fonder, just more interested and restless to watch!
