The crew enters Pod 4. They are bathed in a golden light.
Beta is singing. Sounds like whale-song.
In Pod 4
The crew sees Beta.
And they are awed.
“Oh my God”
“What is it?”
“This is what’s been causing our hallucinations”
“It’s so beautiful”
“That’s singing. How is it singing?”
“It’s organic”
“It looks like molten lava”
“Maybe alive”

Meanwhile back at Mission Control, the floor is seeing what the crew is seeing.
Goss:
Welcome to Beta.
Wass on Antares:
Look at the way it’s moving. That’s a self-similar fractal structure.
It’s a fractal.
And that is why Wass is on the Antares mission.
Donner looking around the Pod.
“There’s more of them. There’s 7 of these containers. Only one of them is full. Ted?”

They hear another “voice”.
“Where is that coming from”
“It’s not in here”
The crew leave Pod 4 to follow the second “voice”.
Jen stays behind. She see only the glowing container, but not Beta.
Why not? What does that mean? Why only her?
The crew follow the singing to the main community room.

We’re going to be collecting these things, aren’t we”

15 yrs ago…
Radio signal from Mars to plains of Nazca in Peru.
Followed by answering signal from Peru to Mars.
Eve’s story:
(Ted is in shock, he knows nothing of this part of his wife’s life)
At 22, Eve encounters Beta.
Eve in Peru hears violin music, that won’t let her sleep. Night after night.
Eve follows the music to the plateau. She was compelled.
She starts to dig. She is picked up by security and questioned why she was on the plateau.
Eve tries to tell them about the music coming from under the earth.
They dig and dig. Then the music stopped. A beam of light shoots out.
Beta glowing, floats out of the ground. Eve is released.
Beta was taken to Nevada for analysis.

Donner asks Goss about the empty containers in Pod 4.
Beta was discovered in Peru. The sender of the original signal, the Alpha object is on Mars.
Donner: “That’s two out of seven.”
Goss:
Five other focused signals have communicated with the Beta object over the years.
Gamma -on Venus
Delta -on Mercury
Epsilon -on Europa
Zeta -on the rings of Saturn
Eta -on the surface of Pluto
The real goal of the Antares mission is to pick up all these objects.

Zoe:
“What do we do with ojects after we collect them?”
Eve:
“Well that’s the leap of faith here. Either the objects are going to tell us, or we’ll have to figure it out.”
Hate to be the doubter, but why are we thinking these objects are benign? What is their plan?
Ted and Jen are both pretty pissed that their spouses did not tell them the truth.
