Dark Knight SPOILERS

Well i just got back and i have preface this with this movie was talked up to me , i mean i could barely cross the street without someone yelling watch TDK. I mean reviews were saying its the godfather part two of comic book movies. and most of my peers agreed. and for people who know me well, know not to evoke the Godfather part 2 lightly.

but hell what can i say they were right from the beginning to end the best batman movie ever made, the second best Superhero movie ever made

many deep themes, great use of the characters. the Joker of coarse was great creepy but still for me i liked him a little and it was the to point where i don’t even know why i like him. The closest i can come to words for it right now was he’s honest, but Aaron Eckhart was very strong in this film. in his own right. The best Movie experience for me of the year so far.

and the Watchmen trailer awesome!!! accept that thing when they say we have to wait until 2009.

just out of curiosity, what do you consider the best superhero flick ever?

V for Vendetta, by far the damn thing made me cry,

Really? As they say on the streets, I wasn’t feeling that one. For my money, prior to Dark Knight, the best superhero movie was Unbreakable.

I don’t want to speak too hastily, but Dark Knight may be #1 in my book now. Certainly the best comic book movie.

i gotta agree on this one.

damn, Superman is my fav hero, but i gotta gives Batman props for having the superior movies.

Unbreakable was just awesome and by far my favorite MNS film, still V just hit the right tone to me. It brings the anarchy up in me, for good or not.

After avoiding this thread for a week I finally went to see the movie last night. I was blown away. The story was awesome. I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t kill Gordon’s son at the end. That’s what happens in Year One.

Ledger was brilliant as the Joker. The creepiest and most satisfying of the Jokers on film to date. You could tell in certain places that his death affected the movie. He died before doing pick up shots. You have a big stretch in there where we don’t see the Joker at all. Also the looping in that final scene didn’t seem complete to me. You know they were probly planning a final scene for Joker in Arkam to be shot later. I mean the last we see of the Joker is when he’s just dangling off the building in the final fight scene.

Two-Face took me by complete surprise. I thought they were going to give the Two Face origin and then he would be the baddy in the next movie. It will be interesting to see what they do for the next movie’s villain now the Ledger is gone and they killed Two-Face.

I still say that Two Face is not dead or his so called death can be explained away if they want him back the next movie. I would think there are more bad guys that could pop up.

I am from Chicago and noticed that it was filmed there. Did that bother anyone else?

I kind of liked the realism of representing a real place… Superman has New York, Chicago seems about right for Batman…

No, Gotham has the Chrysler building. (Although the official map puts Metropolis in Delaware of all places, so what do I know?)

Interesting choice. I loved the process of watching it, but I had serious problems with its politics. In a way that I didn’t expect- it wasn’t about liberal/conservative or hetero-racial-socio-occidental-normativity, which often gets under my skin in Revolution! genre movies. My objection was really based more on the uselessness of the method. V really didn’t do anything to wake people up- he just gave them a fancier show and switched their allegiances, I think. Except Natalie H. Portman. (The H is for Hot)

I think it’s great that they don’t actually use NYC because while some call that Gotham, Gotham City is a distinct place within the Batman world. The NYC architecture is too iconic for it to work quite right.

Check out this really cool Joker Vs. Joker trailer.

Hmm. I’ve never seen V for Vendetta, but if you praise it above Dark Knight (which I just saw), V for Vendetta must be incredible.

So two nights ago I saw The Dark Knight, and I gotta say all the praise I’ve heard about it is all completely deserved.
This thread is labled with a Spoiler warning, so I’m gonna feel free to talk spoilers here.
So if you stumbled here accidently STOP READING NOW!!

The movie was so good that even if they ended it after that big chase scene, where the Batmobile turns into the bat-cycle, it would have been an outstanding movie, but after that it just kept on going and getter darker and darker, and deeper and deeper and better and better.
There’s was only a brief moment in the movie when I remembered that Heath Ledger died, but it passed quickly because I was so deep into the story of the Joker. And we was the Joker to me, not some actor prentending to be the Joker–the performance was THAT good.
The movie presents an interesting dilema of How do you deal with a villian that doesn’t care if he’s hurt, killed, arrested whatever----and all he wants is death and destruction.
I was surprised at the dark turn the movie made where the girl gets blown up instead of Harvey Dent.
The whole experience of watching the movie was dissorienting in that I wasn’t USED to seeing such a quality movie. I kept thinking, ummm what’s going on —did this movie come from some other planet where they still make good movies?
A lot of death in the movie. At times I was wondering—how could the Joker have possiblly arranged all these sinsiter plots and deaths—but I just went with that aspect of it.
I love the Morgan Freeman line when the Wayne Enterprises guy wants to blackmail Bruce Wayne. “So you’re telling me you think that Bruce Wayne is a vigilante who beats up people in the dead of night, and your plan is to blackmail him? Good luck with that.”

Anyway, The Dark Knight ranks up with the best movies (of any genere) ever.
I almost hope they don’t make another Batman movie, because I doubt they could live up to this one. Athough I do look forward to a Batman vs. Superman movie someday.

If the possibility is available to you, I highly recommend seeing the movie in IMAX format. There were a number of establishing shots, and a bit of action that was filmed in the IMAX format. And it really is breathtaking.

This has all been said before but I was blown away by this film. Everyone should see it, and I mean everyone.

The Dark Knight is a better movie. I’d still recommend V for Vendetta but The Dark Knight is very close to perfection while V for Vendetta is a little farther away.

So, I saw this on opening night last night and if you want to hear my thots, you’ll have to make the effort of going over to the Batman thread where I posted them.

Anyway, I’m thinking about the third part.

I think Nolan could pull off a good Catwoman, I wanna see Catwoman. And maybe a dark Robin, you know, like, caring for Robin gives Batman his purpose back.

here’s the only real gripe i have with TDK - when the Joker crashes the party Bruce Wayne holds for Harvey Dent, the Joker grabs Rachel Dawes and tosses her out a window. Batman jumps out after her, catches her, and uses that awesome cape thing to slow their descent enough to save her. then, the scene ends - with the Joker still in Bruce Wayne’s penthouse, still trying to kill Harvey Dent, still able to do all manner of unseemly things to the socialites in attendance. what?!

I have always thought Clayface would be an ideal character. His desire to remain beautiful lead to his condition. I think that plays well in most cultures. We read about the crazy things people do to remain beautiful looking or at least what they think is beautiful. Based on how Two Face turned out, they could do an amazing job with Clayface.

Mr.Freeze was another great character, but totally got screw by Arnold and Joel. The origins of Mr.Freeze is a classic story. Just don’t give him a bunch of skating henchmen like Joel did.

Based on what Nolan has done so far, I would say let him take a shot at using Catwoman. The Catwoman movie may have been a bomb, but the character is complex and could go in many directions.

If it was my choice, I would do Poison Ivy and Clayface. I would guess Warner Bros is going to let Nolan do whatever he wants with the franchise at this point. Once you give a studio returns like Nolan has given Warner on TDK, it is hard to say no to him.
