Cool craaaaaap you've acquired/done lately

Rescue Me is one of my favorite shows ever, but life being what it is, I just finished the last season, which I’ve had sitting around on dusty videotapes since late 2007. Last episode had some great and touching stuff in it. Odd how the show started off funny, turned funny-dramatic, and became primarily dramatic. It’s hardly any fun to watch anymore. But it’s good. New season, here we come…

Hey folks…I figured I’d surface for my once-every-eight-weeks or so to inform the hive-mind of a few things in the family clan:

[ol]
[li]I’m still iPrism-filtered out of anything remotely resembling a life at work – no GWC, no YouTube, not even Google Images…it’s a fascinating regime they’ve got going, and if it weren’t for the fact that it’s a job at a time when that’s something to boast about, I’m going to have to suffer through. The missus is still using most evening-time blogging her little fingers off to other folks in her infertility-support network, so unless I can find a decent laptop at the local pawnshop or Goodwill, I won’t be online too often for the near future. But…[/li][li]For those that recall that landlord (slumlord) mess we were dealing with a few months ago, and moving our family out early to avoid septic failure and mice populations run amok…well, we filed for small claims court about six weeks back, and while they haven’t set a date for us yet, get what arrived in the mail yesterday? A letter from the producer of the People’s Court (yah, that one) asking if we’d be interested in having our case tried on national television in front of Judge Marilyn WhateverHerNameIs. I think we both simultaneously starting laughing to the point of guffaw-snorts, which is very, very out of character, at least for me.[/li][/ol]
Should this actually go forward, I have a small posse of people who plan to wear support t-shirts and hand-scrawled posters to stand outside the ‘courtroom’ in Manhattan and chant, “No Justice, No Peace” for hours.

Ain’t karma a funny thing?

Much love to all my oft-missed GWCers, those of you who have the email addy, drop a line (and if you don’t ask those who do) – I’ll try and claw my way back in to say howdy after I finish reading the Dexter series, and wresting the keyboard away from my bonnie bride.

It is raining. Yes, that simple thing called rain can cause a oh so cool reaction. The shuttle made it down safely and now it is raining hard. The first good rain in months. Hopefully it will wash pollen away and help keep the fires down. WATER!

Question thread hit 3000 posts…

great to hear from you, Keir! I’ve been wondering where you’ve been! keep us updated! I’d love to see that landlord of yours get his comeuppance!

Dude, I’ve been wondering where you went. So glad to hear the small claims court is coming through. If you do decide to go on The People’s Court I hope that you’ll let us all know when the show will air.

Now, how can we get you a laptop…

Speaking of wondering where people were…where have you been, D? (Or have I been gone more? I feel like I’ve been doing little more than lurking for at least a week.)

sweetie, we have got to get you on Twitter! when there’s no time to read the forum, you can check in with your nearest & dearest and feel like you’ve gotten your GWC microfix

i promise twitter is lame
i know im a heritick

Keir! So good to see you around. Keara and I were just wondering about you the other day. Glad to see you’re well, if a bit swamped (pardon the pun :p).

I wonder what you have to leave under your pillow to get a visit from the laptop fairy?

Yes! Do it! Dooo Eeeet! Even Galaxy Ranger has finally given in to Twitter.

The coolest crap I have done is to finally get back on the forum, now, today, Friday!! I have internet and back from work trip only to head off again for a few days tomorrow.

Now to post in the Life is teh suck thread…

I finally started my BSG fanfic. I never thought I’d get it started but…it’s up. GO to the BSG sub-forum and the thread ‘Tales of the Caerus fanfic’ to read.

P.S. Sorry about the self-promotion. You did ask about cool things I’d done lately.

P.P.S. Another cool thing. I started watching The Wire.

I was away this week on business. And an industry friend of mine invited me to come with him to the Bruce Springsteen concert with him. Woooott!!! He’s wife and one of his sons wasn’t feeling well, so they weren’t up to going, so he had an extra couple of tickets. And he was kind enough to invite me. (I feel really bad that they were sick but…Wooooooooooot!!).

The concert was AWESOME. It’s was the first concert of the The Boss’s new tour.
The concert got some mediocre reviews, but, I had no complaints. He’s still got it.

My MacBook pro came! The bad news is you will be hearing from me more again.

Remind me to post in the Bitch & Moan thread…

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction concert killed. The last number was “Train Kept A Rollin’” played by – simultaneously – Metallica (with two bassists, Rob Trujillo AND Jason Newsted), RHCPeppers’ Flea, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, Jeff Beck, the Stones’ Ron Wood, and Jimmy frickin’ Page. Ten guys, one song, one meeeaaaan groove.

Hay Pike do not forget to drop by the B & M thread.

You are following my rule of you must post in the cool craaap thread if you post in the life sucks threads or B&M thread. Good, remember we are all here for you and like hearing the good even when it seems hard to find.

I was at Relay for Life on Friday/Saturday 6am-6pm. We raised several thousand dollars for the American Cancer Society, and had a lot of fun.

The Sign:

The gear flowers are my design (no, the gears would not rotate in that configuration (we did put a disclaimer on the sign)). Society of Women Engineers shared a booth with other groups.

Besides taking turns walking, attendees partook in other activities.

The Battles:

I vanquished many foes in the Colosseum. (Sorry for the craaappy pictures, they were taken with my phone)

We also played knock-out for a while, and I won a couple of games.

By the end of the night, I was exhausted. I’m still sore, but it was fun.

I already thot you were totally awesome.
And now, it seems that, in point of fact, your like totally, completely awesome.
Now, cut it out!!..I’m tired of running back and forth to my Thesaurus!
