I’m posting here to balance out the post I just made on the B*tch and Moan thread, thus keeping the Galactic Flux in place.

Recently I went to an Eagles concert. We had the worst tickets ever, two rows from the top, just behind the leading edge of the stage, on stage left. Could barely see the band throught the haze, had air conditioning vents 5 feet from our heads…craaaappy seats ! But cheap, $42.00, you know, so what the heck.

The XO and I were talking with 2 other couples seated near us, who we didn’t know, all of us lamenting our bad fortune, laughing at ourselves and our really sh*tty seat location. Shared suffering and all.

The Eagles started playing. We could see the profiles of two of them, the others were too far away and blocked by a large Jumbotron type screen. Drummer ? Forget it. Couldn’t see him. And all our sound was coming out of the stage left speakers.

Four songs in I leave and make the long, dangerous stair/ladder/louge climb down to use the restroom. My ears pop on the way down, twice, and I make it safely to the concourse below the seating. As I throw back the velvet curtain to walk into the hallway, a slight, balding gent in the garb of an usher notes the seating area sign from which I’m emerging out from under, and asks me,

“Would you like a seat upgrade?”

This has never happened to me. I say, of all things, “Yes!”

He asks, “How many are in your party?”

In a flash, my brain does the mental calculations needed to spare not only my lovely XO, but my compadres nuevo that I’ve left behind enemy lines. “Six!”, I answer.

“Go get them,” he says.

I spin and leave scorch marks on the concrete floor, grab the handrails, and take the steep steps three at a time. I reach the XO, wild-eyed, and loudly bark “We’re getting a seat upgrade!” I aggressively point at total strangers. “You, you, you, and you! Come on!”

I race back to my usher, not looking back until I reach him. I turn and see my squad of five doubtful followers clutching their jackets in a ball and breathing heavily. They look at me as if to say “We do not know you, but we will kill you if you are screwing with us” especially my wife. She had that look in droves.

The usher hands us all new tickets, takes our old ones, and leads us to a set of six seats, four rows off the floor, in an absolutely perfect spot. We can see everything, the sound is awesome, balanced, and hell, there IS a drummer back there! Upon checking later, I discovered the seats we’d been comped went for about $180.00 each!

Needless to say, a great night! We saw the Eagles, I was a hero to four perfect strangers, and probably the XO, (of course that won’t last long).

And the wife and I got up and slow-danced to “Love Will Keep Us Alive”, our wedding song, next to a clearly-impressed security woman.

I thought I was the only one who only allows myself to B&M if I find something positive too. Thinking positive seems to have benefitted you.

It will be in the 80s tomorrow.

Funny story: even after 20 years of living in the continental U.S. I cannot get used to cold, grey weather at Christmas time. I needs me some Christmas lights on palm trees.

Man, I have sweltered through some Christmas days. My mum’s only concession was to let the plum pudding cool down a bit first! She likes the traditional food. Have to remember not to get sunburnt this Christmas. However we have had an unseasonably cool and wet December, getting a month’s rainfall in 48 hours

That is so odd. Every year I spend Christmas on the West Coast, I wonder about how weird it is without the freezing temperature and a foot of snow on the sidewalk. Palm tree and Christmas in shorts… just unnatural.

I’m getting my xbox360 tomorrow, now I can pair it with my 37" Phillips HDTV that I just got on Sunday. This is the best Christmas ever!!!

I got my garbage can delivered to me yesterday!!! My waste company gives me a nice big garbage can with wheels and everything but they have had a shortage so i have had to put my garbage out in big black garbage bags but that meant having to keep my other bags inside for up to a week. Now i can put it out. Oh…Happy Days!!!

It is indeed the little things. And i was kinda angry before as i was driving home seeing everyone else in the 'hood with a trashcan but me. Now i can finally start really cleaning my house.
