Cool craaaaaap you've acquired/done lately

They’re a step to help you in to the high vehicle. And they piss off the service guys…

Thanks! I’ve made 1 whole payment already.

Why would you store pens on a roof rack

Well, either the pen is too big or the car is too small, I guess.

So that picture is actually to scale?

So why is it called a running board? Why isn’t it just, you know, a step?

That’s unclear. It seems to come from the nautical tradition. (And that’s a tangled etymological mess.)

Do you mean this nautical tradition?

All this has happened before. All this will happen again.

Originally, it was a security feature. There’s a button in the truck that you can press. When under attack, you activate the system, the board comes detaches from the car and runs after the assailant, hence the name running boards. The feature has largely been superceded by the trunk monkey now.

It could be because the boards were near the running lights. Maybe it is because security would run on the side of the car and then jump onto the running boards.

Just got this tonight. Thinking about trying to get it set up tonight as well. Then, get weights tomorrow. Don’t want to be an out of shape Colonial Marine at Dragon Con again.

If all else fails, you could always be New Caprica Lee. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I gotta start working out also… I looke like I ATE New Caprica Lee. :o

I got my very first pay check yesterday. I was stupidly excited!

Plus, the days of watching others teach will at least partly be over next week. I’ll start by giving 10th graders a history lesson on the Vietnam War.

Wow… that would be so interesting to learn about (as an American) from the perspective of a German classroom!

Short version: It’s the frenchies fault.

Short version (from the movie Stripes): We (the USA) are 7 and 1!! (wins/losses.)

Many awesome happinesses in my life right now.

GR should be envidious… because after 2 years of marriage, my husband and I are finally going to be living in the same country TOMORROW.

Not like I’m thrilled or anything.

Congratulations, that sounds awesome. It must be like a second honeymoon!
