They’re doing a really nutty piece by their director in February that involves multiple ensembles and conductors. They’d asked me to be a part of that, which I wanted to do since I want an in with them (they’re very cool), but my February schedule just exploded and I had to turn them down.
So, I’ve started the last semester to finish my bachelor’s. Really don’t want to spend any more time in school so I checked my transcripts to see if I had enough hours to meet the education requirements for the CPA. Amazingly enough, after this semester I should have exactly what I need. So, four more months and I will finally after 17 years (not straight mind you) be finished with college.
W00t! Congratulations.
YAY it is good to have college behind you. Congratulations.
There was a group of local Star Wars cosplayers doing a fundraiser raffle outside my local comics shop today, and this woman had brought her daughter there to see them as a present for getting first chair trombone. And the pure, unadulterated joy of this girl was just so infectious. It gives me hope in the future of geekdom.
How cool. The reward for her achievement was her Mom taking her to see the 501st? (I’m assuming it was them.)
Sorry, have a little something in my eye.
Actually it was a group called the Mandalorian Mercs, and most of them were dressed as various versions of Jango or Boba Fett. One of the Mercs let the girl borrow her light saber for a photo with them, and the girl was totally giddy at the prospect of just holding it. And then they showed her the sound effects.
Armando- wow, it’s looks like you’re gonna be busy and sharing your art with some lucky folks!
NCTibby- there is something really cool about seeing kids excited about our favorite geek stuff. I don’t know what I’d do if my boys hadn’t turned into Star Wars freaks. Sell them to gypsies I guess.
Ahhh - the results of 8 hours of babysitting:
1 picture that actually turned out of all 3 urchins. That’s Lizzie at 11:00, Johnathan at 2:00 and Sam at 6:00.
2nd cool craaaaaaap of the day - I have had a haircut and no longer have anything resembling long hair. In fact, the back of my neck and my ears got cold coming home! Yea haircut!
Those kids just keep on growing, don’t they? I love how adorably chunky the twins are.
I’m guessing that will go away once they actually start walking. The little turkeys could do it if they wanted to!
24 hours, 1 cat, 7 kittens.
I’m bloody knackered, and I’m just the Auntie!
Pix or it didn’t happen.
Uggggh.
Ok.
Place holder for new kitty pictures.
I have found and purchased a copy of an 80s television program that I need for work, and that I was seriously doubting that I would find. Yay!
It goes away. My oldest was a HUGE baby. She started getting leaner just before she turned 1. We (who are not exactly petite thanks to not having had the best habits as children) also work very hard to instill good habits on our kids, which seems to be working (I, on the other hand, am still a fat [sorryBarb]).
Anyway, remember: infancy is about the only time when being fat is a GOOD thing.
Teaching that semiotics seminar on Webster, are you?
Watching ‘Destination Moon’ (1950) with the kids, we watched ‘When Worlds Collide’ a couple days ago. The boys are loving it, and my older son (7) is critiquing the science of the film quite nicely.
