Also, one of my regulars at Starbucks let me know that the computer supply store he’s working at is having its grand opening this week. So I stopped by and picked up a bag for my netbook–a $90 bag for $20!! And later this week, they’ll have 8GB flash drives for $3!!
I’ll take three.
Where is this?
It’s called Micro Center. They have a website, if you want to check and see if any are Grand Opening in your area. Hopefully, the flash drives are of decent quality. I’d hate to waste three dolla…oh, screw it.
We have one in Boston. Don’t expect much from those flash drives. A year ago, they were giving them away for free with a $5 to $15-ish purchase. I got a 2gb and a 4gb drives that way.
Nice if you aren’t looking for quality or durability.
Drat. I was afraid of that. How long did yours last, Fastcart?
Penciled in.
What is the Dutch piece? Can we find it and listen to it somewhere?
The piece is by composer Louis Andriessen and is called De Materie. You can listen to the piece (except for part IV; for whatever reason, part three is repeated twice, but that’s the best part anyway) here: http://www.imeem.com/artists/louis_andriessen/album/kXI44Ij8/de-materie-album/
New glasses! I got some!
To be fair, my old glasses are still fine, and my presciption has barely changed at all. But having gone more than 3 years without a visit to the optometrist/opthamologist, well, yeah.
I may have bug eyes (that’s how having dilated eyes makes me feel), but I have cool new glasses spouse keeps looking and me and telling me I look good. It’s cute.
Hurricane Ida has calmed down to a nice quiet rain. Rain my area needs.
Impulse buy while standing in the checkout line at Walmart the other day.
Yesterday, ladies and gentlemen, I made my first submission to the Fail blog.
I may be the last horse across the finish line today, but… could you help me understand the nature of the fail? It may be obvious, in which case I blame my parents for going with the ‘lowest bidder’ on my genes.
Ok so awhile back in the cast we created the Mutant “B” team. I made a few attempts to make them come to life a little. I drew the X-Men type versions first. These are what they might look like as a kid might imagine them. I also started drawing them as they actually are (however that version isn’t done yet.)
No one was fully satisfied with them which means they are about right as far as I can tell. There was much “I should be cooler” and “That does/doesn’t look like me.” Which was the point, they aren’t us, they are the mutant “B” team, so I considered it a basic win.
Before you ask, the monkey tail for Audra was a no go…mostly because we all live in the gutter. And foreskin armor is out, well for the same reason…also it wouldn’t look good on a coffee cup/t-shirt.
So here is a small look at the Mutant “B” Team in “Comic-vision”
In case you were wondering why I drew them this way, I figure in the X-men type version of the characters work a little like this.
Mr. Maple: Can shoot razor blade maple leaves from his wrist thingy’s. Also twice as big/strong as anyone else.
Sail Girl: …has a sail. It can spine enemies (think catfish) and she also carries a sharpened spine to fight with.
Arm-more: basically has spike armor on his arms.
Heavy Breather: Can use the lung on his back to both pull himself into leaps and push himself through the air or water (Where he’s also nicknamed Mr. Bubbles.)
I am sooooo buying the T-shirt! If I write up a comic adventure for Mutant B Team and send it to you, would you animate it?
lol, see to me animate means 24 frames a second motion. That would = Sean locks hiimself in a room for a year and comes out the other end insane and stinky.
Illustrate now there’s a word we can get behind.
Illustrate…got it…my bad. Alrighty! busts out the yellow pad
That is brilliant! LOL!
What? You mean GWC doesn’t have its own South Korean animation sweatshop?
This. Is. Frakking. Awesome.
Sean:
Any chance of a larger pic that’d make a nice sharp desktop background??
Normally a post like this would have to go on the B&M thread, but not today: two nights ago I was playing Beatles Rock Band when the pedal on the drum set just snapped in half. “Well, felgecarb,” I thought, thinking I would have to pay for a new accessory to replace the cheap one from the game. I decided, instead, to take advantage of the limited warranty EA Games offers, since it’s certainly been less than 60 days since I bought the game.
Well, I just got off the phone with EA customer service and while such calls are often a sisiphusean task, at best, this operator was about the nicest, downright HELPFUL  customer service worker I’ve EVER talked to.
How often does one get to say that?
