Console roll call

Which consoles do you all have? (current gen) and are you planning on buying another one soon?

(someone was gonna do it eventually, you’re just jealous I got in there first =) )

I also have a PS2 and some older stuff: a Dreamcast (for Crazy Taxi), an original Playstation (remember the last big-ass gray one?), a Genesis, and an NES.

I do most of my heavy gaming on my PC.

I’m really bad on my 360 on account of me sucking at using the damn controller.
I still play from time to time though, and I’d play more if I knew people who had XBL

Wii for me!

oh dear, looking at that list it seems i’m a bit behind… I have none of those except of course for PC, I had access to a 360 but somebody moved out and took it with him =( eventually i’m planning on picking up all three, with emphasis on PS3 first

as far as old consoles(if anybody cares =) ) i have the following(all in working condition, once i track down their wires)

NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, PS1, PS2, N64, Gamecube, All gameboys from original to the advance.

never got a dreamcast myself, guess i missed out =)

Have a PS2 and PS (with 40 games for each) and a SNES (with 7-8 games) and a xbox360 (with 10 games), Gamecube (with like 5 games) and a dreamcast (around 10 games)

Well, I’ve got PCs, but not for gaming. I do have a 360. I also plan on getting the new Darth Vader PSP since it’s so sharp looking* and I’m a huge fan of the Battlefront franchise. I play BF2 a few hours every week. Vader really can kill you with his brain.

I’ve got a PS2 (not an option) and a Mac (not an option.)

Stop laughing! I’ll kick your butt in Marathon!

As big of a Halo fan as I am, I need to get off my ass and track down Marathon at some point. Can I even run it on a Macbook, or would I have to find an older Mac to give it a go?

Due to bungie’s benevolence, and a rabid community, it’s available for the three big platforms. Start here:
http://source.bungie.org/get/

You need to D/L the Aleph One engine and the game files seperately. Then put the application into the game folder (it’s a bit odd, but it makes changing games easy) in order to run that particular game. There’s Marathon 1, 2, and Infinity (the Bungie releases) and a bunch of other games that were developed by fans. Endless fun, and it’s free!

Surprised PS3 isn’t showing up at all yet. I have to admit that the inbuilt blu-ray player would make it mighty tempting if I was in the market for a new console. Of course there’s no Halo so…nup.

I Have an xbox360: my old xbox’s hard drive died so I just HAD to upgrade.

My pc is nowhere near grunty enough to be a gaming machine.

For nostalgia value I want my old Atari 2600 and Spectravideo SVI728, dodgy tape loading machine and all… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spectravideo

I’m proud to be the only one claiming the PS3 though I’ll have to come clean a bit; The PS3 is resident at my brother’s house, I own a PS2 but make regular trips to his place for Resistance: Fall of Man. I think I’ll be ebay-ing an Apple IIe for the purposes of Oregon Trail.

I’m exclusively a PC gamer. The last console I owned was a SNES back in the day. Recently gave that away to a family friend’s daughter who’s entering that “I’m emo now, and to retain my cred I have to be into retro gaming platforms” phase. Don’t get it at all, but, meh…what good is a console if no one’s playing it?

I play World of Warcraft on the “Windrunner” server, with Characters Jz and Coulter on the Alliance side (PC game)

Well it looks like I’m a bit behind the times in my old age now. XBox and PS2 which I love both dearly, Sega Genises and a Nintendo Advanced. Plus the PC which is only played MMO’s. DAOC (Dark Ages of Camelot) and Eve Online.

I will also admit to being a complete and total Final Fantasy junkie. Story not MMO, never cared for the MMO. Awww Yeah baby.

i wouldn’t say ps2 is too much in the past … mainly cause there are only a few decent games for ps3 lol.

Man I hope not. But I can tell you this. As long as the Discs don’t dissolve into nothingness from playing them over and over I will continue to play Final Fantasy on my PS2.

Also I am starting to pick up all kinds of games for the PS2 and Xbox now for $2 - $8 a pop because of the new systems. My collection of out dated games will be mighty indeed this time next year.

Sean,

I know I have mentioned this somewhere in the forum, but I am currently studying the Wii in my marketing class (getting my MBA on the weekends) and, in short, all my research points to the fact that Sony continues to rely on the PS2 as a revenue source. You don’t need to worry about it going away anytime soon…it is still selling well, better than the PS3.

I’ve had both the Wii and the 360 for almost a year and I have to say that I’m always on the 360.
I sort of regret buying the Wii. The main reason was to play Zelda (which was an incredible game btw).

I used to be a huge fan too until I bought Gears of War. I actually like BF1 more due to the extreme rag doll effect when using the rocket launcher.

I really want to track down BF1 since it had some awesome maps like Bespin and the Naboo plains. None of the stores here have it, so I’ll have to order it online.
