Huh. I just realized I hadn’t known what Chang’s first name was. Was that ever mentioned in the show?

I think so but don’t remember in which episode.

Señor?? :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it make have been Ben? Ben Chang…

Yeah, it’s Benjamin apparently. Maybe they said “Ben” at some point.

Did you all see this weeks episode!!! OMG!!!

once again with the writer’s favorite theme this season, Jeff losing his sh*t…

I like how they reminded viewers that Abed isn’t perfect, that sometimes his lack of reality can get things out of hand, much the same way the Chicken Gang episode was. Then it was Abed and Jeff coming to an understanding, this time it’s Troy setting some boundaries so Abed won’t ignore his advise just because usually Abed’s the smarter one.

But perhaps the bigger shock is how into Jeff Britta seemed. And that during the winter break Britta apparently goes to Jeff place. As much as she denies it, it looks like there’s a special place in her heart for Jeff.

Annie has pretty much been no shows in the past 2 episodes, which isn’t a bad thing… When they do an Annie story, I wish it’s done right…

I’ve been watching Season 2 religiously on Fox channel - now on episode 216 - why is Pierce so evil? Why is he so hung up about getting everyone’s attention & respect? Is it an age thing?

Seriously, Peirce pullling the “Dad card” on Jeff? I was egging on Jeff when he beat up Pierce at the end.

I think Pierce find himself very similar to Jeff, and i do think parts of their characters are very similar, especially they are terribly afraid of being left out but can’t bring themselves to admit it. what’s different is age and the ability to own up to their limits. Pierce wants everyone to believe he is good at everything, while Jeff is fine with just knowing how to talk his way out of everything.

So when Jeff rejected Pierce’s friendship, Pierce feels that he is betrayed by someone who is supposed to be close to him. The rest of the season is about Pierce afraid of being left out, and wanting exact some pain for being left out.

Watching Pierce act out is so sad (kudos to Chevy Chase’ acting chops that make me hate Pierce!).

But I think the writers are getting close to some story taboos ie having characters too similar (Jeff & Pierce) share screen time together - forcing one to go Sithlord on the group.

Or putting up the innuendo that Jeff is going to hook up with either Chemistry teacher, Britta or Annie (a la Ross & Rachel from Friends - their character arcs got too cosy until their breakup) Good thing they resolved that in the Betty White episode!

What I noticed about Community - compared to other comedies - is that the character arcs are more pivotal to the show. Eg Pierce sleeps in a park bench at the end of the Valentine’s episode and ends up in hospital at the beginning of the next episode.

Putting aside the basic premise of the dynamics within the dysfunctional group, I think problems would be solved if Jeff (the anti-leader) & Pierce (the Jeff-quote “dickish douche” outcast) figured out their roles in the group.

I think it be prudent to compare Community with other shows featuring oddball communities, like say… “The Muppet show”, “Northern Exposure” or “Corner Gas” eh?

I think Jeff is probably happy with where he is in the group by the time of season 2. but Pierce certainly isn’t.

and Annie and Troy are growing and constantly becoming more mature, sometime more so than the rest of the group. Abed… well… is abed.

but yeah, this show is hardly a regular sitcom. I really miss Abed filming stuff in season 3… what happened with that…

That was the best episode of Community this season.

It was heart felt, funny, mocks a medium that everyone’s familiar with, cracks geek jokes, made obscure self references, and just brilliant.

The whole pillow fight thing wasn’t as cool as paintballs, but I like how much the characters involved grows, especially Jeff, which is weird because thought it was supposed to be Abed and Troy’s story. Also, as an unapologetic Annie/Jeff shipper, this episode puts a smile on my face.

This season is great. And an episode got nominated for a Hugo.

Love the Annie pretending to be Blade really badly bit. And tlast scene where everyone communicated only through eye contact was beautiful.

Her imitating Blade…ohhh, really need to watch more media with Alison Brie!

The slo-mo scene with Chang and Pierce at the carnival laughing joyously together as BFFs cracked me up! As did the payoff when Chevy tossed Annie his cellphone and locked himself in her room. Another nice detail was that the entire audio coming from the TV, for the entire show as the gang watched Blade was nothing but screams and swords clashing!!

really? which one? was it the alternate universe episode?

Yes, you are correct. Was the dice multiple-universe episode.
