okay i have a question
i really want to like superman; now i loved loved loved red sun; but i have never found a good jumping off point to get into the main series. . so which issue should i jump in on All star superman?
All-Star Superman is a 12 issue series, which doesn’t really tie into the main Superman books at all. That said it’s the BEST Superman story, and well worth your time.
Jump in at issue 1.
sold; off to the comic store… for some blue red and gold… well tomorrow but thank you.
p.s. is it in trade yet or do i have to track down individual issues?
Yep! It’s in trade! The second volume just came out in Paperback, so you can get them both, and an Absolute edition is out this year.
It really is THAT good, it’s almost like the Firefly of comics for me, I own a couple of the paperbacks that I lend out to people to get them hooked.
All-Star is better than Red Son and that’s saying something.

I’ve pruned my comics list down so much that yours makes me weep!
I’m slowly backing out of comics, especially DC, and now get maybe 4 books a month.
I am however feeding the addiction with Hardbacks and trades of the REALLY good stuff, so I’m actually spending much more than I used to.
I STILL can;t find a complete run of Hitman though, and that makes me sad.
Lately I only collect Uncanny X-men and overall decent storys, But I pick up trades now and for superman fans I really liked the Superman: Brainiac Hardback… I picked up Vol 1 of New Krypton but was disappointed but it hooked me just a little so I will be getting the Others.
The trades I would Recommend are:
Robin “Search for a Hero”
Superman: Brainiac
Uncanny X-Men: Rise & Fall of the Shi’ar Empire
X-Men: Emperor Vulcan
Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men: Utopia (Hardcover)
Yea I know heavy on X-men but I am big fan of X-men books…
<_< That wasn’t my full list. That was what I look forward to reading most and would recommend
Bad Dog:
Lou is a werewolf who despises people so much that he refuses to shift back into human form. Wendell is a vertically-challenged, gutter-mouthed ex-preacher with a hair-trigger temper. Two glorious bastards drinking their way across the American Nightmare, hunting down the dregs of humanity?to find themselves. (That is, if by ‘find themselves,’ you mean drink, swear and generally make a mess of things.)
Atomic Robo:
Atomic Robo has to wrap up some loose ends before jetting off to Japan for a business trip. Yup, just an average day at Tesladyne HQ where nothing bad can happen. Especially not The Revenge of the Vampire Dimension starring Atomic Robo, the force of nature known only as Jenkins, a ton of vampires, and Dr. Bernard Fischer on his very first day on the job.
Chew:
Tony Chu is a detective with a secret. A weird secret. Tony Chu is Cibopathic, which means he gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats. It also means he’s a hell of a detective, as long as he doesn’t mind nibbling on the corpse of a murder victim to figure out whodunit, and why. He’s been brought on by the Special Crimes Division of the FDA, the most powerful law enforcement agency on the planet, to investigate their strangest, sickest, and most bizarre cases.
Secret Warriors:
In a world where no one can be trusted, only one man can hope to stand against tyranny: Nick Fury! Fury - former director of S.H.I.E.L.D, the now defunct world peacekeeping organization - has gathered a special team of handpicked soldiers to help defend the cause of justice. But his Secret Warriors - young, inexperienced super heroes known only to Fury - have a lot to learn and a short time to learn it. And with the ruthless Hydra on their heels, their every mistake may have fatal consequences. Their covert mission will take the Secret Warriors around the globe; along the way, they’ll uncover a conspiracy that reaches from the Oval Office to the temples of Japan, and even beyond death. Fury has known for years that no one is outside Hydra’s reach, but even he never anticipated that their treachery might extend to S.H.I.E.L.D itself.
That’s a lot of stuff guy!
