If there’s interest in doing a Con meetup at some point in the future, how about trying for Comic-Con '08? Since the show will be, in all likelihood, still going at that time, it will be a good bet that BSG will have a strong “official” presence there. Y’know…panels and all that good stuff.
Plus, we’ll have an early glimpse of all the upcoming movies & shows that may well be the future of GWC!

It’s going to be my first large-scale Con – I’m totally psyched.
Where are the comic-cons in 08? are any locations been released? Because I for one will probably not be able to make it to a west coast con unless Bill Willingham and Brain Micheal Bendis will be there if so I would try to make it. Other wise I would go to the east coast one.
I just know about the big one – Comic-Con International in San Diego. I don’t know if any of the other, smaller ones attract the sci-fi TV & movie presence that it does.

Joss Whedon is always huge there. He has panel discussions every year with a Q&A session. Plus, that was where they had the true “premiere” of Serenity. All kinds of sci-fi drops there before any official releases.
I went this year, it was great, but man was it crowded (125,000)

It has become a media frenzy. It is best to get the four day pass , which gives you access to preview night. Preview night (Wednesday night) was just a nice sneak preview of the dealer room, but now it is just as bad as the regular con. Just be prepared for very large crowds and long waits to get into your favoriite panels. I did not even go into the dealers room during the regular days of the con because it was so crowded. Hello all!
I think a meetup in 08 at the San Diego Comic Com is a must. I would expect that this will be the last Con that has a strong BSG presence with panels, etc. since the show will be ending. That gives all of us almost a year to plan and save. When I saw the panel coverage from this year’s event, I really regretted not trying to go (that and missing Star Wars day!) Let’s make this happen!

Comic Con is in San Diego.
My personally opinion is that I would rather go to Dragon Con - less people but from what I can tell a similar experience, but I may be a bit biased since I know my way around DC now (and it is a much shorter flight).
The group I went with last year is planning to go somewhere next year, just depends on where/if Jamie has an appearance (plus there are going to be more then double that went this year). There is also a good possibility that I may go to D*C regardless - depends on the money situation.
That’s a great idea. I’m already signed up to go. Just looking for hotels and flights. I’m all giddy and happy. Someone read my mind.

I have always wanted to go to Dragon Con, but it’s a much bigger expense that I’ll be able to pull off. Comicon is much easier, as I live in San Diego. That’s really the only one I get to regularly, though I have gone to the BSG con in Burbank, and Farscape there, too. sigh. Good times.

That sounds great, I’ll be there Wednesday for preview night, I heard that the 4 day passes are already sold out!! My friend bought a pass for Saturday. What is the name of your Pizza place? Hopefully there will be a BSG panel on Saturday!
There is a preview of the mid season finale on (Wednesday) Jun 11, 2008. I RSVPed and they sent me a confirmation. The stars of the show are supposed to be there
