The good news is that I got the promotion I interviewed for last month, which combined with my yearly salary increase means that I will make about $9,000 more this year than last.
The bad news is that I will be working nights and won’t be able to make it. My nights off will be Sunday and Monday nights. Neither night is likely to work well for a meetup.
Congrats on the promotion Mercury! Those can be hard to get these days.
Since those of us (well me and AirlockB) from out of the area can’t make it now…maybe this first meet up should be moved to a 'burb central to all of those who can make it?
I’ll be able to travel again by the end of the spring/early summer so we can plan another for Lucky Strike for that maybe.
Thanks. I’ve been at my current workplace for a little over two years now, and it really took my old boss leaving for me to get recognized. He was smart as a whip, just horrible at evaluating talent. Once he left, I was promoted to 2nd-level tech support in late July, and after just over 5 mos in that department, I was offered another promotion to system administrator.
The money is a lot better, I don’t have to deal with customer interaction at all anymore… the only downside seems to be a little resentment over me “climbing the corporate ladder” quicker than others. Oh well.
I live in Aurora, right near Rt. 59 and Fox Valley Center shopping mall.
I believe we are still on for next week 2/16. Although we still have planned Lucky Strike (downtown) at 7pm, we’ve been seeing if there’s a place closer to everyone going.
So far:
chas-in-a-box (me) - Grayslake (way north)
MercuryShadow - Aurora
rushfanrich - Oak Brook - so far the center
Cavatar - add your own
MercuryShadow - ?
Pike - ?
Glimfeather - ?
Chas, you got this thing fairly well worked out. There is lots to do in Schaumburg but it depends what people are up for. THere is a dave and Busters on Lake and I-355 that is sort of close to Schaumburg. Ideas anyone?
Not this time, he’s told us a number of times. Let’s plan on doing something again that can include him. Maybe do it in Indiana which is where I think he lives. Maybe next summer’s GenCon.
I was thinking the same thing. Haven’t been there, but should offer a lot to do.
I should be able to make Saturday… It has just been a very long couple of weeks with work and car trouble (driving a piece of junk rent a car with my winter car at the dealer ship and my vette in winter storage.), so I would prefer a different weekend, but I should still be able to make it.
Well, it can easily work. The problem for me are the specifics. Is it schaumburg? Chicago?. Please re-confirm a time. We talked about so many options, I don’t remember anyone pinning one down.
