Great news on Caprica. I had to laugh at all the posts on bad Skiffy made-for-TV movies with the “deadly Creature” on the loose. I rented the one with Jayne and Inara starring in it as bickering exes (great chemistry), but after the archeological dig continued even AFTER the first murder and that guy got his head chopped by a bull dozer lift- all caught on camera, I just had to turn it off. What a waste of great actors. With all that fake blood and body tissue flying around, I sure hope Skiffy is using green practices on their movie sets.
You know what would be the most green solution? Not spending time and resources making that craaaapp in the first place!
Hi;
Wouldn’t it make more sense to hold off on the premiere of Caprica until after the current Battlestar series finished its run?
THanks for reading
Not if events in Caprica are important for the resolution of BSG. What better way to make people watch Caprica?
Although I agree with your thought, my inner marketing guru screams in pain. The reason is, by inserting Caprica inbetween they assure an audience and capitalize on BSG’s current success. There is a hungry audience out there and they want BSG in whatever form they can get it…makes perfect sense to run it during the break.
My inner marketing guru screams along with your inner marketing guru
…ooo—we should SELL that!! Inner Screaming Marketing Gurus!!!
But yeah, it’s really a smart move to keep the “product” alive…well that and not waiting a frakkin’ year to show a new season…but that’s just crazy talk.
Sorry Rjmdrum and Davidj0207 It’s already been Determined CAPRICA WILL AIR THIS FALL! The proof is in the pudding.
This is the best news ever and I honestly believe that it makes sense. First of all, you have current BSG fanbase and then those who wanted to be interested, but never got hooked and will love to jump on the chance for something to watch from the beginning. Plus I think all the network lineups are pretty thin for new shows, so other folks will be looking in places they hadn’t considered before. Great news all around.
On a side note, I’d rather see SKiffy do movies of shows (or even characters) we love rather than their original bloody creature programming. Am I a dreamer?
i’ve been a little spoiled with tv the last few years cause i never had to wait between episodes…i haven’t had cable for almost nine years now i think?? and my friend started giving me shows to watch and not just one or two episodes but whole seasons…so now that i’m all caught up to the rest of you (poor things! i couldn’t wait the five minutes it took to load the next episode let alone imagining going a whole frakkin week?? fuhgetaboutit!!) so my question is how long IS this hiatus thing??
Does anyone know whether the skiffy component of NBC Universal has been profitable in recent years- or ever? How can those horrible movies ever make a dime??
Good question, but as for the movies: Reality TV is profitable as much because of the reduced production costs (achieved largely by pushing the “writing” from writers to editors, and not paying most of the actors) as it is because of ratings.
I’m thinking of doing a ‘paint drying’ channel. If we get a couple viewers, we should be in the black…
If it’s a choice between that or a hungry, angry Skiffy creature out for blood, I’m in.
Don’t joke about that. There’s a local channel near my grandparents’ place in FL that, during December, plays nothing but a looped video of a fireplace from about 10 p.m. to some time in the wee hours. You can just sit back with the family in front of the fire and enjoy one of the great winter traditions. Someone must be watching because it’s there year after year!
Oh, the Yule Log. That started making a comeback a couple years ago. The idea, there, is that nobody is watching it. It’s just supposed to be carols with an ambient video. Sort of like radio with a screensaver.
What do you mean - nobody is watching it?
I said that’s the idea. Old farts like us will sit there and stare at it.
It’s comforting to do so. And evocative of what Christmas has come to be.
