Caprica (possible Spoilerage)

She was frequently naked and frequently getting it on with her beau Marc Antony.

She was frequently naked, not surprising given the setting. However, the most stunning scene would have to be when she was in her bath & just got up & walked out of it toward Antony.

Of course my favorite scene was Antony’s full frontal scene!

I’m all for a re-watch of Rome!

There is a trailer up on Scifi for Caprica:

Which simply confuses me…shouldn’t this be about the creation of the Toasters? Did I miss a memo?

Woooooah. This is crazy. Okay, from what I understand, this is still about the genesis of the Cylons. But the skinjobs were invented to make his daughter immortal… Not as slaves. Huh.

The character of Joseph is interesting… A lawyer and an upright man who has to battle against prejudice… While using his powers to aid the criminal underworld. Huh. But why would Greystone (a robotic engineer) need a lawyer’s help?

This has gone from what I thought was a stupid idea to an interestingly well developed series. I’ll definitely be watching out for this. It certainly looks like a different experience than BSG.

Can someone explain something to me, though - is this a miniseries or a regular series? If it’s a miniseries, that kinda sucks, they’re hard to record. :frowning:

From everything I’ve heard, it’s a regular series.

Although it’s on Skiffy, so…

It is. The creation of the toasters storyline is just taking a detour via creation of hot, barely-legal female Cylons. Can’t wait to see the pilot!

In this (great) recent interview Moore confirms that no decision will be taken until the September as to the fate of Caprica.

Well, you spend all that money making an exact copy of your daughter and how do you pay off your debts and make good on the work? SELL more copies!

That trailer was pretty impressive in terms of look/feel and some interesting acting. Very stylized. I’m definitely excited for the mini, at least. Does anyone know who is doing the music for it?

I have the same reservation about the skinjobs. I always thought the skinjobs were created by the Centurions. I’m thinking we start with skinjobs and then for reason they ban skinjobs, but want robot slaves I.E Centurions. This could explain Greystone’s need for a lawyer. There is some kind of political oversight with his corporation or something. Greystone is like Bill Gates, right? I think I read that bit somewhere.

With a better hair cut.

I’ve wondered on the forum a few times how the toasters would have the intellectual and, moreover, the physical ability (in terms of dexterity) to create skin jobs such as the S7.

Having said that, I/m not so certain that “humans” from the 12 Colonies did create the S7.

Also, raises a host of questions about “who” really was behind the skin job experiments unearthed in Razor. Toasters - I don’t know about that either.

Caprica seems to be less and less canon with each passing day.

Which bothers me but isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s like a re-imagining of a re-imagining.

I’ll give it a shot but I’m losing confidence in the series fast. My money is Virtuality, right now.

Which is a very cool/creepy idea, but I have doubts that they will really explore that.

Wait, yeah, how does this factor in to the crazy Toaster experiments on the Baseship in Razor? Toasters trying to create more skinjobs?

I… Argh. My head. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

You know, this is feeling more like Heroes with each and every passing minute.

EDIT: Huh, I guess the humans created maybe the first skinjobs (wonder what happened to them) and then they went on to create more…

That may be the 5/7 dichotomy.

Jump back to my last post a couple up the list. The possibilities are numerous.

We have no idea how “many” skin jobs Greystone created OR how advanced they were or were not. What we do (seem to) know is that the experiments must have ended in a way that humans believed left none behind. (Or it would not have been such a big surprise when the skin jobs showed up in the BSG miniseries.) Apparently, Bill Adama’s father (and, presumably others at Greystone’s shop) knew what Greystone was up to, so his work was not being conducted in total secrecy. It appears to have “ended” short of mass production.

So, we have skin job experiments on Caprica 51 years before BSG begins that, as far as the humans know, go nowhere AND certainly do not lead to the S7 existing in a way that was known to humans. However, toasters are created and serve humans for 11 years or so until they revolt and the first war occurs.

Then we have the Razor situation. More skin job experiments. And a hybrid. Now one thing that was a spoiler, but since GR blew the whistle a few weeks back (way to go), is no longer one on this forum is
that the OGG in Razor may be Greystone
- last time I am treating this one as a spoiler. IF THAT IS THE CASE, then the experiments we see in Razor may well have started on Caprica or have been the next stage of those experiments
with the toasters as assistants to Greystone, who at some point turns himself into a quasi Cylon
. The S7 skin jobs may have a very different genesis.

Doubt it - if so, there should have been no “discovery” of skin jobs by humans in the miniseries - unless any humans that knew about them 51 years ago were “eliminated”.

If this has already been posted, sorry about that…

Let the analyses begin!!

Well that was informative.

 1. No signs of toasters - but they had to exist before Greystone attempted to “recreate” his daughter. Simply not enough time to have created “them” 51 years ago and then have the First Cylon War end 11 years later (especially if the war lasted 12 years as Starbuccaneer pointed out).

2.“She’s an exact duplicate (or replica, or whatever).” Might look that way, but I don’t think so. The questions include:

A. If she is, why the need to get into the unfortunate experiments seen in Razor? Especially if the OGG is Greystone?

B. If she is, why are any humans (especially Bill Adama, given his father’s knowledge of what Greystone was up to) surprised when humanoid Cylons appear at the start of the second war? In other words, those humans in the know must have believed that the “daughter” was a one shot project that did not work out. (I know, there is some chance that “she” was perfect, but the humans in the know still believed she was the beginning and the end of the line.)

So, I’m thinking that things did not work out so well with the “daughter” on the technical side.

 1. Now, if Greystone is the OGG, what was the genesis of the S7? Did he go off in a bizarre direction as seen in Razor, while “somebody else” took the technology he developed to recreate his daughter and use it to create the S7? If so, who? I still do not buy that it was toasters working alone. Hybrids?

 2. Hey, here’s a thought. The GGGs on the base stars are additional creations of the “daughter”. She went off and got the job done - creating multiple copies of herself and the S7 skin jobs, while her “father”, the OGG, did not. All of which blows 2B above out of the water.

 3. What’s with the hats that the men are wearing? Looks like male characters from Mad Men are visiting Caprica to come up with ad campaigns. (“Introducing the all new Cylon R23 - never mow your own lawn again.”) If so, did they introduce cigarettes to The Colonies - and Doc Cottle, when he was a lad?

 4. Ominous signage moment - “The end of humanity…had a beginning”. Mwahahahaha. Give me a break. Depending on what you mean by “humanity” that is.
