Caprica (possible Spoilerage)

not a ricky fan, huh? I did often flash back to The Champ when he was on NYPDB

Couldn’t find the Spanish-language version, but here’s a truncated one for the U.S. that’s still all kinds of awesome (don’t know how to embed using this site, so a link will have to do):

Who knew insurance could be so much fun?

I just kept thinking of Silver Spoons. But then, I did the same thing during Fresh Prince of Bel Aire.

I’m also not a Jimmy Smits fan. Nor a David Caruso fan (although his campy performance on CSI: Miami is pretty frakking funny). Ergo, I didn’t watch too much NYPD Blue. :frowning:

I managed never to have watched Silver Spoons. sitcoms written around nauseatingly cute children have always been an extreme turn off. his casting on NYPD and then later Mark-Paul Gosselar (which means “goosethigh” in my mother’s native Danish–we giggled a lot over that one) did strain credulity for me. but I loved how flawed the characters were–Sipowicz in particular. I got very invested in that show.

Yeah, when I caught it in re-runs a few years ago I was struck by how well-written the characters were. Sipowicz was, indeed, very good. Denis Fronz is an underrated actor too.
Most sitcoms around cute, “wise” children are, indeed, guano, but when I was a kid myself, in their heyday, I didn’t know any better. I used to love Diff’rent Strokes (though I saw it in Spanish–it was called “Las travesuras de Arnold” or “Arnold’s misadventures.” Kind of sounds like a documentary for Schwartzenegger’s 2003 gubbernatorial campaign!) and caught Silver Spoons when Menudo guest starred. Being a group from Puerto Rico, perhaps the first Puerto Rican “stars” to make it big in the U.S., it was a big deal down there and the episode got a special broadcast. The series was never shown again and I didn’t catch it until we got cable a few years later and realized that it wasn’t very good. It did, however, give a young Jason Bateman work. He got his own annoing sitcom as a spinoff of that show only to fade away after his sequel to Teen Wolf. After years of slumming it, though, her returned in comedy glory on Arrested Development showing that he is, in fact, one of the best straight-men in the comedy business.

Anyway, this is deffinitely evolving into a non-Caprica subject, isn’t it.

That’s a great idea TLT

Or maybe a subforum within the Battlestar section?

Perfect Choice, plus he’s done tons of work with EJO.

Wait shit that’s the major in Jericho isn’t it?!

No. Haven’t you been paying attention? He’s Ritchie Valens’ older brother in La Bamba.

Yes he is.

I believe that Mr. Schroeder goes by Rick now. As far as I’m concerned, any casting for Caprica is great news. I’m watching Jericho on DVD right now and am loving it. I didn’t watch it before because I thought it would be depressing, but it’s not I’ll look for Mr. La Bamba when I get to season 2.

You know, I wasn’t all too interested in Caprica when they announced it originally, but reading some of the story ideas they’re exploring and seeing the emerging cast, I am starting to be more than just a bit curious about it. It does sound like a curious way to do a spin-off and like a completely different style of show to BSG.

Kappa, you’re my hero! I’ve been looking all over for that (well, obviously not all over)

cool

Hee!

I think I’ve found the newest theme for subversive workplace humor. ($4.6 billion  in education cuts is not making aahnold very popular amongst my colleagues)

Wow, this is great news. REALLY looking forward to this.

Sing it with me:

One of these things is not like the others…

Seriously, I wonder if there’s any significance to Lee being the only Adama not played by a Latino actor…

I think they referenced it briefly, by saying he “takes after his mother”

Well it seems like the reason Lee doesn’t appear latino is that his mother was caucation. It’s just genetics…sometimes that happens. If I recall the actor who played Zak didn’t look latino either…

I was reading from the casting call that Bill will be 9 when the cylons are created. So it will take a decade or so??? for them to begin rebelling.
