No, they served together on civillian ships after the war.
I always thought that first & last mission was a bad idea.

I really see only one solution to the programming issues on SyFy- we need GWC TV! Who’s in?
Would that be like Trek 2.0 and have our Twitter posts popping up at the bottom of the screen?
ooohhh yesssss…yees!! BRILLIANT!!!
I actually liked the bulk of Trek 2.0, but the posts were pointless. Replace them with some GWCers and I’m in.
This time Im with SYFY on canceling this show. I think the actors were all great actors and Im never happy when people lose their jobs but I dont think it was a well written show. I think the plots were so chaotic and they tried to be so different from BSG that they lost alot of BSG fans that wanted to continue watching stories set in the BSG universe.
I agree with you.
My big problem is they cancelled it, said we are going to air the last 5 episodes in 2011. Well, now the dvd is going to be out in December. So I’m not going to be watching in 2011 because I’m forgetful and I don’t think they will promo those episodes if they air them at all.
Cross posting this from the Caprica - Blowback frak party thread:
Since SyFy basically said “Fuck You” to the fans, I don’t feel the need to avoid posting this.

Like someone said I wished they started a little farther on the cylon development. Then jump to the first Cylon wars.
But I have to bite back some complaining I did for the season 2 since the last episode with the Adama brothers was great.
Oh and yeah for Space for diffusing all the episodes now.
And I also hoped to see some of the final 5, or young (and less skeavy) Kavel
And now Rubicon has been cancelled…
…at least they gave it a full uninteruppted season. Shame tho - was getting really good after a slow start
I watched the first episode and then I got caught up in other shows and never went back. I think it was just a good show that just got lost in the shuffle.
Unceremoniously canceled last month, Battlestar Galactica prequel series Caprica dared to offer audiences a truly alien world. That’s probably what caused the show’s downfall, but could also help it endure as one of the most literary scifi shows ever aired.
This article sums it up well in my opinion.
Thanks for sharing that article, Andi.
I think this hit on the dot one of the major complaints I heard from people:
Caprica may have gone too far, tried to cover too much. It broke one of the cardinal rules of mainstream science fiction, which is that if you have a strange alternate universe you’d better populate it with recognizable, ordinary characters.
Evidently I’m odd - I don’t care if I didn’t like anyone, I still liked the show. It made me think. As much as I love Castle or The Big Bang Theory, they don’t really make me think very much. Sigh.
At least I can watch Dirteaters now Speaking of multicultural issues and ethnic division (or so I infer…)
I don’t know if Caprica offered something truly alien. It offered religious zealots who accepted violence as a driver of change. It offered an underworld with no qualms of violence. It offered large corporatiosn that didn’t care much about regular folk. And it offered a youthful populace more interested in escapism at unknown cost than one engaged in reality.
To me, it was too close for comfort to the modern world we live in. The only difference was that there were war robots in it.
Logged in to post that story, and there it is already. “IO9: Miss an hour, miss a lot.”
Yeah, I agree with you. There’s not a lot of people (that I know of) besides you and I that felt Caprica was their favorite show on TV.
Such a shame that a show that pushed boundaries had to end before its time. Haven’t seen Blowback or Dirteaters yet, but I’m looking forward to it.
I’m with you on this. With all the low-rated dreck on TV that DOESN’T get canceled, you have to wonder why there isn’t a place for something like Caprica. I’m going to guess it’s the money it costs sciffy for the show.
Sigh indeed.
Every time I watched an episode of ‘Caprica’ I thot back to Bill Adama’s speech in the BSG mini-series: “Why are we as a people worth saving?” That questions lingered throughout the entire run of the BSG series. We, as the audience, wanted the characters to survive. We could relate to the characters. They were real and the show presented events in a realistic manner. We wanted them to be better, to rise above their obstacles. They were literally fighting for survival.
Posing the same question to ‘Caprica’, presents a different set of opinions and emotions. These characters are also very real. They portray a cynic’s dream. They are the absolute worse humanity has to offer. There are no heroes. They are selfish, delusional, damaged, conflicted, moody, envious, and vile. They are a mirror to our society and I don’t think some viewers liked that. Their world is not fighting for survival. It is a decadent society and when posing the question, “Is humaity as a race worth saving?” The answer is NO. But I think it is important for this story to be told. It’s perfect SF because it not only asks, “What if?” but “Can we avoid it?” Can we avoid creating a slave race? Can we avoid exploiting our world for the sake of progress? Can we avoid placing humanity’s desires above the rest of the other species inhabiting this planet?
These are difficult and pressing questions for our own society. Do we face them or put on our holo-visors? Caprica was and is a commentary on us. Sometimes, you don’t want to look in the mirror.
It’s about a mad scientist who created a virtual version of herself, implanted it in a cylon, and got revenge on her father.
I’m not sure I agree with that statement. It’s arguable whether Zoe is a mad scientist. To me, she’s a teenage girl with teenage problems lacking proper outlets to express her creativity.
Her father implanted her virtual self into a Cylon against her and Lacie’s wishes.
At certain points, avatar Zoe did want revenge against Daniel, but I do not think that was her overriding purpose. I’m fuzziest on this point however.
I liked that article, and dislike pouncing on one specific point out of the whole thing. Still, I found that one sentence jarring and couldn’t let it pass.
She’s mad, like Baltar was mad. Some folks are uncomfortable with the whole God factor, so they label the person crazy. In BSG, the ride was suspect. We didn’t know what was up with Baltar. Now, we know. God exists. He chose Zoe and gifted her.
Why Zoe envisioned big giant robots and then (when Daddy stole her idea) moved on to V-world? That’s unclear.
